Cutting The Grass
6-25-17
CUTTING THE GRASS
It was early Saturday Morning
I wanted to get the yard in tip top shape.
I also wanted to get this done before it got hot outside.
It was a nice cool morning.
My goal was to get the front and back yard done before we went on our vacation.
I also like working in the yard because it is a good workout.
It is also a nice feeling knowing that you have completed this yourself and you take pride and care in contributing to a nice home and yard in your neighborhood.
Since my husband has a heart condition. I try to do what I can to not have him risk any further complications.
So because I work from home full time. I have the time to do these things that need to be done.
You know they say that you need the right tools for your business as well.
You need a business plan, strategy and time devoted to working on it every day.
So as I began to mow the front yard. I went to start the lawnmower.
The lawnmower has a priming button for the fuel before starting.
We usually only have to push this three times for it to start.
I did this in the usual manner. I pulled and pulled the cord.
The lawnmower usually starts on the first pull.
Not this time.
For some reason I tilted the lawnmower back and dropped the front end in frustration…
I wanted to get this done to move on to get the back yard done in a timely manner.
When the lawnmower slammed back down. I noticed that there were big clumps of dried grass that had clogged up underneath from not rinsing the underside after the last use.
So I kept tilting it and slamming it down until the dried grass clumps gathered on the ground. I tried starting it again and it started.
I took the first stroll with the mower and as I began to walk and push it forward.
I thought to myself. You know this is like running your business.
If you have the right tools and you maintain it properly it will run.
You need to have a business in place and you need to have your business seen.
Which means you can write articles and place ads, post on social media.
You can do videos. You don’t have to be perfect in these things.
You just need to find which ones work best for you.
Find which ones you like doing the most and do them.
Will it run if you do not work on it everyday?
What if you don’t put gas into it?
Will the mower keep running?
If you do not change or clean the filter or change the spark plugs.
It will not run properly.
In other words you have to work on your business everyday.
The misconception about having your home business is that people are misled and think that you can get rich overnight.
These things take time. Just as working on your yard.
You have to continuously feed it, water it, prune and trim.
Then you will see how these things all start to look like you want them to.
You have to do these things every day to keep your yard looking nice.
You have to have the same mindset with your business.
Keep these things in place and work on it a little bit of time each day.
Keep pursuing your goals.
Don’t give up on yourself.
And most important of all. Never let others get in the way of your dreams. There will be those who will not believe in what you are doing .
There always will be. They will always tell you it will not work.
Prove them wrong.

These IT Band Syndrome stretches and exercises can help relieve pain and increase flexibility in your IT (ilotibial) Band. When the IT band is tight, it can cause a lot of problems in your hip and knee including hip bursitis and patellofemoral pain syndrome. See Doctor Jo’s blog post about this at: http://www.askdoctorjo.com/it-band-sy... For the first stretch, take the foot of the leg you want to stretch and cross it behind your other leg. Then take the arm on the same side and bring it up and over your head. Now stretch the area by pushing that hip out to the side and hold it for 30 seconds. Do three of these. Now you are going to do a hip hike exercise. Keeping your body upright, lift your foot slightly off the ground. Hike your hip straight upwards. Try not to lean over while doing this. Your hip is going straight up and down. If you want more range of motion for this, you can stand sideways on a step and drop your foot off when coming back down. Start off with 10 of these and work your way up to 20-25. The next exercises and stretches will be on the ground. This stretch is a very intense stretch and will hurt some people. If you have a noodle or foam roll, lie on your side with the injured side down on the roll. Gently roll/pull your leg up and down from the hip to just past the knee. Start off with 30 seconds and work your way up to a minute. Roll over onto your side with the side you want to work on top. The top leg is going to stay straight and pull your toes up towards you. Keep your body in a straight line as well. Try not to let your leg come forward. Also, keep your hips up towards the ceiling, perpendicular to the ground. This is going to work your hip abductor muscles. Start off with 10 of these and work your way up to 20-25. Finally, you will do a clamshell exercise. Still lying on your side, bend both knees slightly forward. Try to keep your hips perpendicular to the ground with the top hip towards the ceiling. Slowly lift the top leg up and out, like a clamshell opening up, and then slowly back down. Related Videos: IT Band Stretches & Exercises: https://youtu.be/T5CYbfByXPo?list=PLP... More Details About This Video: Once you have mastered the standing exercises in the pool, you are now ready for the more advanced walking exercises. These are basically putting the standing exercises into a dynamic walking movement. It is important to keep proper posture while doing these. First is what we call the soldier march. It is pretty much a straight leg raise while walking. Keep your knee straight and locked out. Pull your toes up towards you into dorsiflexion to keep your knee from bending. Kick through the water only as high as you can go without leaning back. Next is the hamstring curl kick. Just like when standing, your hip should stay in a neutral or slightly extended position. If you bend your hip up, you are working different muscles. It's almost like you are clucking like a chicken! Then there are the Rockette kicks. Bend your knee up into a march position, then kick your leg straight out and step forward. If that is too much of a stretch, don't bring your knee quite as high. Now you are going to walk on your toes, just like you are in high heels. Try to stay up on the toes the whole time without touching your heels to the ground. Then switch to walking on your heels. Try not to push your bottom back; you are lifting your toes, not leaning back. This really forces you to straighten your knees into extension, so be careful if you have a knee injury. Finally, you are going to squat sideways. Remember to keep your toes facing forward the whole time. As you are stepping out, that is when you want to squat, and as you are standing back up, bring your feet back together. It is one fluid motion; try to move the whole time.
