As a character it’s one thing, and as an actress playing the character. But as a human being, I had and still have lots of really wonderful friendships from that project, so I maintain that. In fact, I just saw one of my colleagues just before I arrived. So we keep in touch, we text each other, find out what projects they’re on, root for them as well, and I’m really happy to hear about everyone’s successes. That’s one element of it, because it was a long time and everyone became, I mean, you get to know each other in a very sort of familiar way and that’s probably the biggest sort of transition, not seeing the same faces everyday, especially these extraordinary talents and beautiful hearts.

I’m actually still not clear on the thought process behind the way it went down. It hurt and it was a harsh ending, but now, nearly two years later… I met so many beautiful people on that project, and we collaborated on something really unique. It would be a disservice to those people, to the work that we did together, and to my work, which I feel contributed, in part, to the success of the show, to be anything but grateful. It was a formative experience, and we told a love story that I feel moved people, touched people, and I can’t be anything but glad that I was a part of something like that. I hope it remains something special in viewers’ minds forever.

How is it to give life to two women who work in a world dominated by men? Normal. It reflects our world today.
