how do you feel about the Jancy breakup? Should they have stayed together or gotten back together?

I'm fine with it. I used to be the biggest Jancy fan in seasons 1-2 and to a degree 3, but I didn't like how they separated them and gave them those communication issues in S4. There wasn't really anything new or exciting to love about them. Right before S5 I said that I could see them break up after the events of the show, spend a few years apart and maybe come back together in the future. Then I watched volume 1 and I hated what they did to them. Basically, they lost me. I wasn't as invested anymore, partly because the Steve-Jonathan drama was so over the top and ridiculous. It didn't feel like the characters I fell in love with. Then I watched the break up scene (at first without realizing it was a break up lol) and I loved it. Finally, I got my Jancy back! I still think it's one of their best scenes, and I actually like that they broke up. Now they have a chance to figure out who they are and what they each want out of life, and if they ever do get back together, they'll know it's because they want to, not because of shared trauma. I like that the ending is open and makes us wonder whether they will (or did!) go back together. I'm not sure what I'd prefer, honestly, I think it changes by the day, but right now I like the idea of them always loving each other but eventually finding partners who are a little better for them.

have you read “the end is here” by bookinit? it’s a fully scripted version of season 5 from long before the official season came out. The Ao3 version is just from Mike’s and Will’s perspectives but the notes contain links to full scripts that include the other characters’ plotlines. And it is a million times better than the actual season in pretty much every way. It’s my new canon. You gotta read it! (btw bookinit is currently rewriting the official season 5, which is amazing too.)

hc that mike did buy will the necklace but just as some charged Thing typical of them that’s not explicitly romantic. and in college some guy accidentally breaks it while they’re making out and will (who needless to say. was into it. irrelevant but true.) is freaking out and gets mad at him but like. the necklace was cheaply made. it was gonna happen at some point. but will doesn’t wanna hear it and the guy is like man i didn’t realize it was from your ex i’m sorry and will is like. from my What now
