Huh. Well. Apparently I’m still alive.
100 Roleplay Scenarios!
Here’s How It Works!
You and your RP group elect one RPer to roll the 100-sided dice. If you can’t decide, just go in alphabetical order of your tumblr roleplay blog usernames. Don’t worry, everyone will get a turn. (If you change your name to get ahead, you will be skipped over until the next time they get to your name. No excuses. Fair is fair).
Rolling the dice is easy: you go to this site, select “100” from the drop down list for number of sides, “1” for number of dice to roll and “1” for number of rolls. You are only allowed to roll once.
Whatever number comes up, you look up the corresponding number on the scenario list above and figure out a way for your character to instigate it or introduce it. Be creative. Many of these scenarios are left open-ended and vague so the interpretation is entirely up to you.
Watch the scenario unfold.
Repeat once everyone gets bored/or when you want to heighten the stakes. Make sure you’re communicating with your RP group via OCC chat.
Enjoy! :)
Keep in mind, that this isn’t just for the RPers out there. If any writers or artists are feeling stuck, you can use any of these scenarios as a prompt. Pick and choose or roll the dice and see what comes up.
Happy Imaginative Play!

A Stroll In The Snow
Xephos blinks, momentarily taken aback - very few people have spoken to him about his wings before. Then he smiles, and shakes his head. “I can fly, theoretically. I don’t do it much any more, though, not for the past few years.” Not when there’s hardly any room to swing a cat in most of their bases and his closest friend is just a little short.
“Thank you, though.” He tilts his head in thanks, before his expression turns contemplative. “I’m not actually a wanderer, though, either. I just don’t know how to explain… my life, really.” Grinning, Xephos shrugs again, before huffing a little.
“I’ve never used a clock myself. Never really needed to - the sun and moon’s all I really use.“
Elyfar listened as the other spoke, nodding slightly. “It’s no matter. In fact, its probably quite an intelligent move to not give too much information to a stranger---particularly in this realm. Ever so many threats here. Werewolves, vampires, pale sand demons, actual undead and explosive leaf-things roaming the lands every night as though it was a normal thing---quite terrifying.”
He paused for a moment to check that no such horrors were on their tails, sighing in relief when he found the coast was clear. “Perhaps I should make less clocks and more weapons to keep them all at bay. How do you deal with them all? The “mobs”, as I’ve heard them called?”
A Stroll In The Snow
Xephos nods consideringly, half looking at Elyfar as the two walk. “Clockmaker, huh? You get a lot of business around here?” His tone is curious; he’s not trying to stall for time in answering the one he’d been asked.
(Admittedly, he does need more than a minute or two to come up with something better than ‘I shepherd two twits around and try and keep them on track even though I’m one of their’s employees.’)
After a little contemplation, he answers, tone a little wry. “I don’t really have an actual job, not like that. I’ve got a sense of direction to make up for it, though.” Xephos flashes a grin at Elyfar, and shifts his wings slightly in a half shrug.
“A surprising amount. The people in this world seem to always be in a hurry, racing from place to place, so many proyects and schemes on their minds. A reliable timepiece is very valuable to them. That being said, you never have to travel far to find someone who yust wants to buy something pretty.”
Elyfar returned Xephos’ curious look with one of his own. “More of a wanderer, then? A fine calling. There’s ever so much to see, if you have the time to spare. And I’d imagine you save quite a lot of it with those wings of yours. They’re very nice, by the way. I don’t think I’ve seen someone with wings of that colour before. Can you fly on them, or are they more decorative?”
A Stroll In The Snow
Xephos shakes his head, waving it off dismissively. “Don’t worry about it. The base is on the way back to mine anyway, so it isn’t much bother.” And as long-legged as he is, he never finds that he walks much faster than other people anyway.
Then, after taking a moment to orient himself, he begins walking, tilting his head in the correct direction and hoping the other understands.
“It’s Xephos. And you are?”
He was immediately grateful that the other seemed to match his pace quite comfortably, and so limped along beside the tall man unhurriedly.
“Good to meet you, Xephos.” He pronounced the name carefully. “My name is Elyfar, I’m a clockmaker. Keen sense of time, but uh, slightly less keen sense of direction. What about you?”
A Stroll In The Snow
Xephos seems to be contemplative for a moment. He can think of a few bases off-hand nearby, but whether the owners would take kindly to visitors is another matter. Then inspiration strikes.
“I can do better than that, I’ll take you there.” Sjin and Lalna’s old base should be good shelter from the cold, from what Xephos has heard of it. “I’ve not got anything better to do, after all.”
“That is kind of you,” Elyfar said with a smile, brushing snow off his shoulders somewhat uselessly. “I must warn you though, I’m quite a slow walker. Or “limper”, would be more accurate. So please do not feel the need to accompany me the whole way should it start to waste your time.”
That said, having someone to walk with at least for some of the way would make the experience much more pleasant. People in Minecraftia (whether native to the world or not) were much more talkative than Elyfar was used to for the most part, and were often happy to chat. In situations like those he would learn all sorts of things about this place that we wouldn’t otherwise have heard traversing the land alone.
“Shall we be off, then, uh...I’m sorry, I yust realised I have not asked for your name. Terribly rude of me.”
A Stroll In The Snow
Xephos’ expression is a little sheepish as he replies, shaking his head. “I’m afraid I don’t have a map on me right now, friend.” Really, he only carries maps when travelling with other people - his own navigation is fairly solid all of the time.
He unwraps his wings from around him and lets them relax into their natural position behind him. Feeling the chill as soon as he does it, Xephos reminds himself that it’s probably a more welcoming position to have - even with his crossed arms and now considering gaze.
“I know that we have a few maps back at our base, but that’s really quite far from here.” Certainly not a distance he’d want to make a stranger walk just to get a map. “There are a few bases near here, but who knows if any of them have maps. Or would be willing to give you one.”
Elyfar’s face fell. “Ah, right. I suppose it’s worth a try, at least. Would you be able to point me in the direction of the nearest base? Or, yust, anywhere warm, really.”
Being as small and frail as he was, the cold hadn’t taken long to change from bracing to biting, even through all the layers he’d made sure to wear. This walk was only supposed to last an hour or so, but now it was approaching its fourth.
A Stroll In The Snow
Now, Xephos doesn’t make a habit of going on long walks through the snow without at least some company. But Lalna and Honeydew had been doing his head in, working on some project or other, and he’d really just wanted to get out.
Admittedly, after a few hours of walking he’s distinctly regretting it - wings curled around his upper body in an attempt to keep himself warmer than his tattered coat and shirt are - but it’s still quite a while to get home.
The sudden voice takes Xephos by surprise. He hadn’t been aware of anyone living in this area, and while he doesn’t know everyone, he likes to think he knows most people, at least
So he stops and turns in the direction of the voice, and tries to look like he’s not completely freezing his ass off. “Yes?” Xephos calls back, narrowing his eyes to try and get a better look at them through the winter scenery.
Elyfar slowed a bit when Xephos turned, flashing him an apologetic smile. “Sorry to be a bother---you wouldn’t happen to have a map, would you? Or know of someplace I could find one? I can’t navigate to save my life in weather like this, pretty though it may be.”
He craned his neck to get a better look at the tall stranger, noting his dark, shimmering wings and somewhat familiar face. Minecraftia was full of clones and coincidental doubles, Elyfar remembered, so it wouldn’t be absurd to assume he’d met someone else with the man’s face before. He scratched at his scar thoughtfully, offering another apology after his questions. Wasting other people’s precious time was something he hated to do.
A Stroll In The Snow
[Open Starter]
Winter was the best season for a long walk, Elyfar always found. With the world coated in soft white snow and the brisk winds howling through the bare trees, the experience was as much relaxing as it was exhilarating. The one downside of this weather was that under such an expansive snowy blanket, everything looked the same. White, white and more white. And if your sense of direction was as poor as Elyfar’s, you’d find yourself in a similar situation to his current one---being utterly and hopelessly lost.
He sighed and tightened his scarf, breath misting in the cool air. This was just great. It would take hours to find his way back now.
Walking aimlessly along the empty woods, hope returned to him as he found fresh footprints in the snow. He picked up his pace and followed them, soon spying their owner traipsing along ahead. Perhaps they’d have a map or a compass, or just a functioning understanding of the layout of this world.
“Excuse me!” he called after them.
@redcloaksandplatinumhearts:
“Well, I wanted to get multiple gifts for my friends! And that I don’t exactly know what holiday you might celebrate during this time so I thought three gifts was a safe bet.” She grinned happily up at him. “O-Oh, the ring? That one was the hardest to get together. I had an old friend help me out a bit with the runes a long time ago… but uh, I was the one that got together all of the materials.” She took a moment to think to herself before bringing herself back to the conversation.
“I’m pretty sure what it does is that it can store a magic spell or of the sorts in it as like, an emergency stock? I haven’t used it yet. It seemed like a good gift for you, seeing as you kind of lose magic all the time, I thought this might be handy. For whenever you end up in a sticky situation again.” She explained, watching Elyfar to see how he reacts.
Taking the watch, she grinned as she looked it over. “Oh my gosh, this is awesome! Thank you, Ely!” She looked at it more before looking up at Elyfar and opening her arms up towards him, trying to ask for consent to hug.
Elyfar examined the ring closely. “A very useful gift indeed, then. I’ll have to pay a visit to one of the mages in the area and get them to infuse it with something. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts I can’t seem to get any of Minecraftia’s magic to bend to my will. I suppose I’m yust not suited to it.”
The ring was tucked safely into the pouch, which he then fastened to his belt. He gave Kari a questioning look as she spread her arms, taking a moment to remember what that particular gesture meant. Normally, a hug would be out of the question, but since she’d given him such nice gifts Elyfar supposed he’d let this one slide and actually hug his small friend.
It was a loose hug that was offer as soon as it began, but a hug nonetheless. “I’m pleased you like the watch. Trust me, there’s plenty more where it came from if this one is lost or damaged.”
Ohhhhh my gosh, I just remembered it was finally the holidays! Or at least, I'm a bit late to it... Er, but anyway! I've been getting presents together all year! Oh gosh, this is exciting! {She hands off two presents, one with a gold ring holding a little turquoise with little runes of different magic, a new pouch made with really fine blue silks with swirling gold in it, and a box full of different assortments of sweets and cookies with a holiday theme!}
“Three gifts? …This isn’t some tradition, I’ve overlooked is it?” He thanks her anyway and inspects the gifts, hand going straight to the pouch around his own neck when he saw the one she intended for him. “I could use this new one to keep the ring safe. What does the ring do, by the way? I’m feeling magic on it, but it’s not familiar to me.”
Another pocket watch seemed to materialise in his hands, this time a small silver one with red inscriptions around the rim, the hands and numbers on its face made from some kind of crimson metal. He passed it to her, prying the box of sweets and biscuits open at the same time. “Ooh, these look tasty. Probably much sweeter than what I’m used too—what a bonus.”
Merry late christmas, bunny boy. [she hands him a blue tea kettle.] -skylordflora
He takes the kettle and raises an eyebrow, lifting and examining it carefully. “What a thoughtful gift. You know who’d be very yealous of this? Rasper, probably. I might yust have to use some of his tea recipes to really add insult to inyury. Merry Christmas to you too.”
Rifling around in his pockets, he passes her a quaint bronze pocket watch inlaid with dainty runes. “You no doubt have plenty of watches as it is, but what else can I really give?”

Yayu’una tells me its tradition to give presents tomorrow for this “Christmas” celebration. People like pocket watches, yes?
...I asked Yayu’una and she told me people liked pocket watches “about fifty years ago”. I’m officially out of ideas.
