Sadness
I really like my Qidi, but its already broken after a week. Not a great start. Back it goes for a replacement. They have good word of mouth, but it seems they use lower quality components now then a few years back.

That was a close call!
Beginner issues. Solved them by increasing infill. I am surprised how long these take. 11x4x4 cm cube essentially, a container. Took over 8 hours. I understand now why people run their printers 24/7 if possible.
It’s Running!
Levelling is tricky, and after a test print I know I need to do it again. Still, first, as is tradition, a Benchy!
It is here!
I was looking forward to getting to use it but the mail misplaced the second package with the filament. Now I have to wait a few days longer.
Change of Plans
While I wanted to get a Prusa MINI+, for safety reasons because of the Kid I decided to get an enclosed one instead. Since budget is still maximum 500€ the choice became the QIDI I-Mate S. It should allow me to test a wide variety of materials. Got an optional PEI plate because I found that’s very popular and seems best for adhesion and release. Will be here on the weekend. Curious how long it will take me to get a print going!
Nerf?
While was looking for sci-fi miniatures and scenery to print, I actually found there is a huge nerf scene of 3d printers. Its nuts! Love these ones though: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/flintlock-musket-nerf-blaster-files-only-v2-0
Today I made the jump
and ordered a 3d printer. I am excited. Since I don’t really have a lot of time to tinker I went with a Prusa Mini+. Seems the best out of the box experience one can have right now in the under 500€ range. The reason to jump in now? I discovered solo skirmish games. I do miss skirmish games, I don’t have anyone to play with. Solo games seem fun and since I got rid of all my wargame stuff years ago I may as well start fresh. Now I have roughly 2 month until it gets here and start to collect possible prints. Sci-Fi terrain and miniatures in 28 and 15mm scale. Want to try out both. Since I have FDM, miniature quality wont be up to resin standards, but I wager good enough to play at arms length.
