Sorry for not posting for a week I think, had to work on something so here's something small and cute

I had a dream the other day. I dreamed that Magic the gathering made an official collab with Life Is Strange and made a Universe Beyond set. In that dream, I bought an entire booster box of Life Is Strange packs to the mafia. Unfortunately, I would then wake up and realize that the Magic The Gathering X Life Is Strange collab didn't exist (yet).

But that left me wondering... Just WHAT would a real Life Is Strange Magic card look like? And so I started thinking... And I decided to make it happen. So I logged in on a custom card website and made a first draft.

I loved that first draft, but unfortunately, the artwork wasn't mine (it's a cover art for one of the LIS comics). SO... I got to work.

Did you know there are actually a LOT of ressources for people trying to learn how to make Magic The Gathering art? With this much reference, I could start coming up with composition ideas. I'll skip the part of the process where I made small thumbnails to get an over all idea of the composition.

This was my final sketch for the piece. Finally, I had my foundations to continue working.

This was halfway through the process. I was pretty happy with how it was shaping up but... Something felt wrong. It wasn't colorful enough, I felt like this needed stronger colors. So... I restarted the entire background with a more thoughtful color palette. Finally, I added the iconic butterfly and a camera glare and... Voilà

But of course the question remained... How would it look on a Magic Card? That IS what this whole process was for in the end. Well...

Oh my god it's perfect. This drawing left me stumped on so many stages of creation, but the final prodcut is exactly what I wanted to do. I hope you found that little art journey of mine interesting.

On one last note... As silly as it would be to have Magic X Life Is Strange happen, it's not exactly that much of a stretch anymore. After all, we DID have a Magic The Gathering X Final Fantasy set. And guess what other game Capcom published?

Hi Tumblr! Oh I've missed you! I haven't drawn my muse Victoria Chase in a long time, but here she is again!

... Maybe next time I'll do a more simple render. I must've sent four hours on this drawing. Three on the rendering alone. What can I say? I find painting relaxing. Victoria allows me to try a bunch of stuff.
