((Mun has returned.))
((We're aware that there's only, like, two of you, but we figure it's still an important courtesy to let you know that mun is going on vacation for the next week.))
Morgan groaned. For such an interesting-looking town, Moonhaven was surprisingly devoid of anything, well, interesting. Sure, it had been nice to explore, and the booze was excellent, but nothing seemed really able to catch her eye.
Except, of course, for one certain LeafmanâŠ
It was easy enough to find him with a quick spell; it looked like heâd just finished a training session. To her delight, he was alone; perfect for her purposes.
âNod, mâboy!â she exclaimed brightly, popping out of her hiding spot in an attempt to startle him.
âWoah!â Nod almost grabbed his sword back out. Â âMorgan! Â What the heck, man?! Â Donât do that!â
Morgan grinned. âJust a little test.â She slung an arm over his shoulders. âYou failed, by the way. Didnât hear me coming at all. Thatâs not good. Could get you seriously hurt some day. You on break now? Iâm bored.â
âI donât think anyone else here is a wizard!â Nod said.  âAnd yeahâŠbut what do you have in mind? Cause that last time you were âboredâ I was nearly eaten!â
Morgan snorted. "Okay, you have a point about me being a wizard, but do not blame that chipmunk thing on me. That was entirely your own fault."
"As for what I have in mind..." she trailed off thoughtfully. "Well, there's something I've been itching to look into for a while..."

âOh, so now thereâs a Boris involved too?â M.K said angrily. âHow many bets did you take!? WHY did you take a bet!? Ugh!â she growled, pulling at her hair.
âNo!â Nod put hisâŠ

âAt least one of you is thinking clearly,â M.K grumbled, looking over at Morgan thankfully.
When she looked at Nod, she sighed. âSeeing as you just got chased around a ring for who knows how long by the Jinn equivalent of a bear, I think thatâs enough yelling,â she said, pinching the bridge of her nose. âJust, no more bookies and no more betting, no matter how much you think you can win. Otherwise youâre gonna end up as chipmunk chow, and when I pull your ass out of the grave, Iâm going to do something significantly less pleasant to you.â
âBears are fine, theyâre also really warm in the winter.â Nod shrugged. Â âChipmunks are the violent ones.â
âAlright!â he held his hands up at her threat. Â âNo more!â Â He may have said it, but he couldnât necessarily guarantee it.
"Not when you're bigger," Morgan cut in. "Chipmunks run away from something so 'scary', and bears feel threatened and maul you."
She rolled her eyes at Nod's surrender, but didn't comment.
âOh, so now thereâs a Boris involved too?â M.K said angrily. âHow many bets did you take!? WHY did you take a bet!? Ugh!â she growled, pulling at her hair.Â
âNo!â Nod put his hands on her arms, trying to calm her down. Â âCalm down! Â I swear, I thought I was gonna win, then they cheated. Â Iâve been working it off! Â This was supposed to be my last gig before Bufo cleared me.â
âLast gig?â Morgan repeated. âSo youâve been doing stuff like this for a while? Oh, wait, wrong thing to say.â She looked at Nod apologetically. âWow, Iâm not helping at all, am I?â
M.K crossed her arms, tapping her foot as she looked at Nod. âYou are aware your best friend is the Queen, right? We could have had this taken care of ages ago! Ugh, youâre so dense sometimes!â She pushed his forehead, scowling. âAsk for help next- No, there better not be a next time.â
âOh come on! Â I canât just ask you for help whenever I get in trouble!â Nod exclaimed. Â âI have taken care of stuff like this before!â
Morgan patted Nod on the shoulder. "Kid, I think telling her about how often you're menaced by bookies and hired thugs is just gonna dig you a deeper hole."
âStill owe him a- WHY DO YOU OWE A BOOKIE MONEY!?â M.K shrieked, banging on his back with her fists. âI am this close to throwing you back in that arena with Bufo and the chipmunk, you fucking idiot!â
âJeez, MK!â Nod turned around and tried to block her flying fists of fury. Â âI lost a bet a while ago! Â Thatâs all!â Man, he had only rarely seen her this mad. Â And it was never a good thing if her anger was directed at him.
âIn his defense,â Morgan interjected, âpeople like that can play the system pretty well. They fudge the odds so, you make one bad bet, youâre up to your ears in debt and guys with names like Boris.â

âIâm a queen, class is my thing,â M.K said jokingly, waving for them to follow her out of the area. Once they were a safe distance away, she turned to Nod and smiled at him calmly.
âNow,â she said sweetly, before reaching out and slapping him hard upside the back of his head. âWhat the hell is wrong with you!â she snapped, snarling at him. âI thought you had learned your lesson about working with Bufo ages ago!â
âOw!â Nod said, rubbing the back of his head. Â âIâm sorry, alright? Â I wasnât working with him, exactly.â Â he shrugged. Â âHe just thought I couldnât handle a chipmunk and kept bugging me about it! Â I had to do something! Â Plus, I uh-â he averted his eyes and mumbled, âI may or may not still owe him a little.â
Morganâs shoulders were shaking with silent laughter as she watched the show play out in front of her. Oh yes, she was definitely going to enjoy her stay here.

âOnly if youâre inviting me,â M.K said to Nod teasingly before turning to Morgan. âYou can ask questions later. I just wanna get out of here.â She shuddered. âThat chipmunk gives me the creeps.â
She started to walk back away from the arena before stopping. âOh! One more thing!â Making a fist with her right hand, M.K mimed the trick Nod always did to pop his sword out of its sheath. Her elbow hit her hip instead, and behind her, there was a sound of panicked croaking as a frog in a fancy blue coat was pushed into the air by a vine. His trajectory landed him right in the center of the ring with the chipmunk, and the crowd cheered loudly.
âOkay,â M.K said with a satisfied smirk, âNow we can go.â
Nod laughed, wanting to pick MK up right there and spin her around. Â âYouâre such a badass!â he grinned. Â Remembering Morganâs question, he said,
âWell, not all the time- just mostly when Iâm tricked into making betsâŠor get into a little trouble with Bufo.âÂ
âI give you ten out of ten for execution,â Morgan agreed. âVery classy.â
At Nodâs answer, she hmmed sympathetically. âBookies are a tough crowd.â

âLet me,â M.K said, smirking. âIâve always wanted to do this,â she whispered to Morgan, turning and facing the creatures that were coming towards them. âYour Queen orders you to halt!â she yelled, her voice full of authority and her back straight. The men stopped for a moment, but kept coming closer.
âOh, so weâre gonna do it this way then,â she grumbled, dropping back down to the ground. With a flick of her wrist, snap dragons burst from the ground, rushing towards the creatures.
Nod grinned.  âThatâŠis awesome.â he said.  âCan I bring you to all my races?â
âCool,â Morgan breathed, her grin matching Nodâs, as the snap dragons easily pinned the thugs to the ground. âI am gonna have so many questions about that magic later.â
She shot Nod a look. âYouâre regularly cornered by people twice your size at races?â
âOnly if youâre inviting me,â M.K said to Nod teasingly before turning to Morgan. âYou can ask questions later. I just wanna get out of here.â She shuddered. âThat chipmunk gives me the creeps.â

M.K grabbed his hand as soon as he was close enough, pulling his the rest of the way up. âIâd say heâs normally not this stupid, but Iâd be lying,â she told Morgan. Looking back at Nod, she sighed.
âYeah you are, lucky for you. Otherwise I would have ditched your sorry ass forever ago,â she told him, though her smile spoke volumes about how relieved she was that he was okay.
Nod chuckled sheepishly, brushing off the front of his clothes. Â He turned to Morgan. Â âAlways a pleasure, Morgan.â he smiled. âHowâd you know I was down here?â He asked MK.Â
Morgan coughed awkwardly. âNot to interrupt the moment or anything, but thereâs a few particularly angry-looking gentlemen making their way over here. Should we be having this conversation on the move?â

âEheh,â Nod held up his hands.  âNi-nice chipmunk.  No-no munchies!â he held his breath as the chipmunk sniffed at him, then raised up on its hind legs.  Nod closed his eyes, waiting for the swipe of the paw.Â
âI think thatâs my cue,â Morgan said, flicking her wrist so that a bright light flashed in front of the chipmunkâs eyes, temporarily blinding the creature. âMove it, Deathwish, your lady friendâs getting nervous!â
M.K rolled her eyes at Morganâs quip, throwing the vine that was wrapped around her arm down to Nod. It wrapped around his forearm tightly, and M.K started to curl it back around her arm, the vine and her magic doing most of the work to pull Nod up. âYouâre an idiot, you know that right?â she yelled down at Nod.
Nod looked around, hearing the familiar voice call out. Â âMorg-ahhhHH!â Something tightened around Nodâs forearm, and pulled him away just as the chipmunk fell down at the spot where Nod had just been. Â Looking up, he saw MK and Morgan standing on top of a flower and MK was controlling the vine. Â He grinned. Â
âBut Iâm your favorite idiot, right?â he called back. Â The crowd began to boo and jeer, and Nod knew he was in for a beating if Bufoâs men ever caught him. Â
"Pipe down, I'm sure there'll be another moron in line to get mauled shortly," Morgan shouted as the crowd picked up in volume. To Nod, she added, "I really hope this isn't a regular thing with you, kid."
M.K gave her a weird look, finally landing on the ground and heading towards the sound of cheering and squeaking. âRemind me to never come to one of your parties,â she teased, smirking.
âHey, in my defense, it was not my fault,â Morgan said, holding up her hands and smiling. âI just have really weird friends. Speaking of which, letâs go find yours.â
M.K nodded, and it wasnât too long until they walked into the clearing filled with Jinn and bugs of all different sizes. There was a ring in the center with high walls, and the sound of familiar screaming and roar-squeaks came from behind the wall. The young queen frowned, her expression stormy as she strode closer to the wall, trusting that Morgan was following behind.Â
The spectators all noticed her right away, most scrambling out of her way and some vanishing completely. Once they reached the base of the wall, M.K made a daisy burst into bloom, stepping onto the flower and offering Morgan a hand to help her up before she made the flower grow upwards. They were able to see over the wall easily now, and M.K sighed. âYup, that would be mine,â she said exasperatedly, pointing at the brunette Leafman running in circles from the enraged creature chasing him.Â
âWoaah!â Â Nod yelled, sprinting away from the chipmunk. Â It started out as just a bet! Â Just a little money from Bufo! Â But there was always a catch. Â Always a catch with that toad.Â

âIllegal activities, a bunch of idiots, and giant man-eating chipmunks,â she said, making fang motions in front of her mouth. âI think my friend got drunk and somehow ended up signing himself up to wrestle one of the said man-eating beasties.â
âSounds like my last birthday party,â Morgan commented, grinning. âExcept, you know, less chipmunks. Although there was definitely a man-eating something. I donât think we ever figured out what it was.â
M.K gave her a weird look, finally landing on the ground and heading towards the sound of cheering and squeaking. âRemind me to never come to one of your parties,â she teased, smirking.
