Tastes Like Cigarettes and Regret

Pavlov chuckled, ducking his head a little. “I prefer sweets, I think, but it’s better than a lot of earth food I’ve had.” That was a bit of a wonder to Pavlov, considering it took only thirty minutes for it to be made anddelivered. The idea of that alone would seem suspicious to the god. “You have the cutest laugh,” he complimented offhandedly, briefly wondering if the boy was ticklish. He’d have to keep that in mind later on, when he could actually test that fir himself.

His smile softens. “I think so,” he answered, leaning over to kiss Shilough’s cheek, “I mean it when I tell you that you deserve to be treated this way. Everything I do is out of love, my little kitten. Truthfully, I wish I could do more for you. I feel like you deserve even more than what I give you, but I don’t know how to go about giving you more.I want you to feel wonderful, though. Because I love you, so, so much.”

"I'm trying really hard not to tell you that I don't think I deserve this at all," he said with some difficulty. "You're the best thing that has ever happened to me." Now THAT was a stunningly high compliment, coming from Shilough. Though the boy had clearly had a difficult life, he'd also managed to free himself. If he considered Pavlov more important, more wonderful than that, then Pavlov was really something.

"I know you're going to be around a long time," he said, "But I'm glad you're so willing to spend some of that time with me."

"Well, for all I know, that’s perfectly normal. Not exactly human, so I don’t know what it feels like," he said, dismissing it with a small shrug. He finishes off his first slice soon after, going for another one as he spoke, "Honestly, this is better than I expected."

He set the slice back down soon after, though, getting up to get them both a glass of coke from the bottle he’d left on the kitchen counter. He returned soon, handing Shilough a glass, “Really? I feel the exact opposite, actually. I feel uncomfortable eating alone,” he stated, sitting back down next to him. “But I get what you mean. I feel a lot more comfortable around you than I do anyone else.”

"I told you!" he laughed, "Junk pizza. It's the thing." He gave in to himself and went for the third slice. The cheese was piping hot and gooey and perfect. Shilough had marinara on the corner of his mouth, though he didn't seem to know it. It smeared and stained when he took a drink of the coke he'd been given.

"You..." he started, then stopped, thinking through a few more bites. Eventually, he tried again. "You make sense. Do you get what I mean? Like, it's weird because on the one hand you're so nice it confuses the Hell out of me. But then, like, the things to say, the way you treat me, it all feels kind of right, somehow. And I like it. It's weird. But it's really..." his voice dropped very quiet and he stared at his lap. "Really wonderful," he finished.

Watching Shilough was always interesting to him. Nearly every little mannerism was precious in the eyes of the god - who admittedly over romanticized most things, as one might expect, given his job title. He didn’t feel like his thoughts were overly romanticized with Shi, though. He deserved every silent thought, every longing and loving look he received from the god. He was his favorite being out of all he had met. While to some that might seem a hyperbole, he truly meant it whenever he said it.

Pavlov wrinkled his nose as he watched him, shaking his head a little, “Do you just wait until you’re with me to eat? It’s like you’ve been starved,” he comments, still only halfway through his first slice.

"Naw," he said, gulping down a mouthful (thank god) before attempting a reply. "I just don't get hungry much... but when I am hungry, I'm really hungry. I think my stomach just stores it all up and waits to tell me all at once that I need to eat. I don't know. It's weird." He finished up the second slice and stared at the box, forcing himself to slow before attempting a third.

"Though, funny you should mention it, I usually don't like people seeing me eat..." He looked thoughtful. Probably because he expected others to try to take the food from him if they saw him with it. "But it doesn't bother me with you."

The Countess narrowed her eyes upon Shilough’s features. Was he simply ignoring her requests? Was he placing signs and hints towards his friend to state he was several ill to excuse himself from the evening dinner. When Shilough revealed he would, The Countess inclined her head, “Let it be this coming Friday for the dinner. State to him several course meals shall be served.”

He nodded. "I'll let him know," he promised, "He'll be here." Shilough didn't seem thrilled about it, but his reluctance was genuine, and proof enough that he wasn't faking the arrangement.

Pavlov smiled to himself, setting the box down at the foot of the bed as he joined him, sitting close by the boy’s side. He ruffled the boy’s hair, then pulled him close and kissed the top of his head. “You’re adorable,” he murmured. Letting go of him, he opened up the box and grabbed a piece for himself.

It was amazing how secure even those tiny gestures of Pavlov's made Shilough feel. He pressed in for a second before hey broke apart. He leaned over to get himself a slice of pizza, which he devoured so quickly that it was unlikely he ever tasted it. But he looked like he was in sheer bliss. A second slice soon followed.

Sherlock nodded shakily. "Clean is good, literally not metaphorically," he muttered, still a bit disjointedly as he rubbed soap on his torso and legs. "Don’t want to get sick." He didn’t just wash himself once, but rather four or five times, just as thoroughly each time, and not because he’d forgot he’d done so. He had a genuine fear of getting sick, and he knew his lifestyle wasn’t going to make the chances of staying healthy any better. "I’m cold," he eventually said. "And I think I’m clean now, for now, right now."

He peered at the young man suspiciously. He didn't seem quite so tweaked out anymore. With some visible reluctance, Shilough lowered his arms and stood back, allowing Sherlock to leave the shower. "I'll get you a towel," he said, "Careful getting out of there. How's your head?"

"You’re going to have to, you’re sorta stuck with me," Pavlov replied, returning the boy’s smile warmly. Typical to Shi’s nature, he responds to the verbal affection with a kiss. It’s something Pavlov is learning to enjoy quite a bit. Slowly, the god’s hands slide up Shi’s back, palms grazing the soft skin and raised scars that he was slowly becoming familiarized with. When the doorbell rings and they break their kiss, the god chuckles. “I’ll get it," he murmured, nuzzling the boy’s cheek before pulling himself up and off the bed, quickly getting dressed enough in loose fitting pajamas to answer the door. He pays, thanks the delivery boy before padding back into the bedroom.

Shilough had situated himself on the bed, legs folded, hands in his lap. His shaggy brown hair was falling in his face. He really needed a haircut. But he was smiling, looking relaxed, if hungry. His eyes followed Pavlov and the pizza into the room. "Oh my god that smells like heaven," he sighed, scooting over to allow the god to sit back down comfortably.

"Verily, I would and your mind is leading towards my own upon the same path of thought," she mused, as her form awaited for the call to be placed through to his acquaintance. Yes, it would be the word lest Shilough was to state there was more betwixt the two. Was there more to lie betwixt the two? “All the better you are removing yourself from the lips of the bottle, are you not?"

Shilough ignored the Countess for a moment while he conferred with the man on the other end of the line. It didn't take him very long, but he had a few words and then hung up. He looked at the woman. "He says he's on for it. Just pick a time and he'll show up." He pretended not to have heard the question about his drinking habits.

The teenager rolled his eyes fondly. “Oh my god, Pav," he teased, “Open your mouth and I’ll try to extract that seven year old girl you swallowed." He burst out into giggles after, clearly not put off by the ‘seven year old girl’ talk. He cuddled closer. “A ninety year...

His stomach twisted like a small rollercoaster and he smiled. "I could get used to being all yours," he said with a little smile. He leaned in and was just starting to throughly kiss Pavlov when the door bell rang. Shilough rolled off with a groan. "That'll be the pizza," he said.

The Countess glanced about the room, towards the ceilings and towards her hands, “Nay, call when I have become an ugly and foul creature. Why of course now, Shilough. Call him at once to send invitation for him for the dinner," she stated. If this was for him to skitter away from their agreement, he would not find her in a favorable mood.

"Perhaps, it is best to lug about a heavier phone to withstand your shaking hands. It is a condition of nerves that can be alleviated from drink?"

"I think you'd kill yourself before you let yourself get ugly and foul," he said, though he did call as he was told.

"Yah, but I dunno. It might be the drinking that does it..." he muttered as the phone began ringing.

Pav nuzzled him, “A big cute dork," he corrected, placing soft kisses to whatever exposed skin he could reach. “But there are plenty of things to like! Like kittens, and sunsets, and picnics under the stars. I’m certainly not the best thing in the world." He did, however, appreciate it. Shilough had quickly become his favorite person, the one thing that managed to outshine the beauty of the universe. “I’m not going to have to, because you’ll never be ugly. You’ll always be my precious little kitten, whether you’re 19 or 90."

The teenager rolled his eyes fondly. "Oh my god, Pav," he teased, "Open your mouth and I'll try to extract that seven year old girl you swallowed." That was the closest he'd ever come to suggesting he wouldn't die young. It was small, but it might have looked like progress if you squinted a bit.

Joan watched that smile spread as Shilough browsed, busying herself with papers and parchment till he thought to speak. “Two?" She echoed with a smile, brows creasing in thought of… Cats.

"Hmm… Perhaps." The little woman scuttled out from behind her counter and looked over the shelves, eyes scanning through the pieces that flashed through her mind. She remembered sketching cats over and over again for something, as it was the best place to start when replicating movement- Ah. Movement. Joan reached to the back of a shelf and took out a rounded music box, made up of bronze and silver and lesser gems in sleek upside-down tear shapes thrice on the edges and the lid, and she dusted it off to show him what lay inside.

"I believe a client changed their mind on what they wanted half way through, but I finished the little piece anyways," She smiled as inside lay a slender cat, curled up in a ball in slumber. “When the key is turned a light, short tune will play, and the cat will rise slowly from it’s place and stretch, only to decide to lay down again and sleep through the rest of the tune, only rising when it is wound up again." The blonde explained, looking to the lad with a hopeful smile.
