Thanks, Bioware, for ruining real life relationships for me with your damned high bar of swoon-worthy romances.
Bioware: ruining real life men for me since 2003.Â

Reegar, you’re too manly to be cowering behind a waist-high wall. Get out there and circle-strafe the hell out of those Geth.
Hell yeah!
Just finished this!

The Banner Saga
(By Arnie Jorgensen)
Tying in with what I just posted about Eyvind Earle, we have a new game from some former Bioware folks called The Banner Saga. Does the art look a wee bit familiar? It was inspired by Eyvind Earle. :D
I think I want to check this game out.
Imagine your Daddy tells you when you are 10 years old that you either have to paint a picture every day or read 50 pages of a book a day, it’s most likely going to end in a tantrum. But what would happen if you were to say, ‘screw you Pa, I’m gonna do both,’ and actually do it?
Well, for Eyvind Earle, it meant his first solo exhibition at the age of 14, cycling across America and paying his way with 42 watercolours (think about it, that works out as less paintings than there are states) where, once completed he had consecutive exhibitions in New York at the Charles Morgan Galleries, only to have the Met purchase one for their permanent collection by the time he reached 21.
Not bad huh?
How about when Walt Disney got involved and asked him to create the look for ‘Toot, Whislte, Plunk and Boom,’ an animated short that soon won both an Academy Award and a Cannes Film Festival Award. Jeepers.
Obviously Disney knew he was onto a winner and soon had Earle as the scenery mastermind behind the likes of Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and Lady and the Tramp, as well as creating ‘The Story of Christmas,’ an 18 minute animation for TV which still resonates in the animation world today.
He also created a set of Christmas cards that sold 300 million copies through the American Artist Group.
The moral of the story?
If your Pa tells you to do something, do it.

I love Sleeping Beauty, and I love Eyvind Earle. His art is amazing.
So… what would you do if someone told you that they loved you?
How do you get this line? I don't remember it.Â
So what are the best Skyrim mods that make the general game look better? I keep seeing such amazing landscape shots from people and I’m like, mine doesn’t look that awesome!
So what does everyone use?
for landscape i suggest Skyrim Floral Overhaul and follow the install…
Cool! Thank you! I’m funna get these installed now! My computer is…decent, I guess. I run all of the MEs on the highest-settings with enhancements (like the HD texture overhaul, etc) and the Large Address Aware for leaks and generally don’t have issues. Crossing my fingers that its the same for Skyrim. :D
cool! i have nearly umm 200 mods installed so if you’re after more i can totally tell you more later depending on how your skyrim runs. (i like skyrim mods way, way too much)
the enb is really the thing that makes everything look great but it can potentially kill your frame rate :P
Oh I am the same way. I mod the hell out of games once I've had at least one vanilla run (well, I haven't actually finished Skyrim...such a gigantic world!). Its really kind of pathetic, because I'll spend hours modding the game and making sure everything gets along etc and then I won't feel like playing anymore. My husband always makes fun of the fact that I'll spend 2 hours on the character create screen, start up a game, and then quit and start over because my character wasn't just so.
I may just take you upon your offer regarding more prettiful mods. As you suggested, I'll get these installed first and see how things run. :D

If people are going to be angry, be angry at the State. In the USA, the burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. They failed to do so. At the last minute (literally), the judge introduced the lesser charge of manslaughter to the jury because the chances of conviction of 2nd degree murder were slim to none. How the hell was the jury, who up to that point only had the option of 2nd degree murder or nothing, supposed to wrap their heads around going from the extreme of 2nd degree murder to manslaughter?
In the USA, it is innocent until proven guilty. The local police didn't have enough proof to indicate a crime had been committed and as such Zimmerman wasn't arrested until a special prosecutor ordered it done. The police chief was fired over this case, because he was following the law, following the qualifications for the burden of proof to be met before an arrest--if any--could be made. He wanted to treat everyone equally under the law, regardless of the political or social implications, and that is how the US justice system is supposed to work. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if their wasn't enough evidence to prove his innocence; there wasn't enough to prove his guilt.
Instead--regardless of how you feel about what occurred and the outcome of the trial--you had a man arrested on extremely weak evidence and a trial that was held in a kangaroo court of political and public opinion. Is this how our justice system should work, based on what mobs want and not on the evidence at hand? How would anyone ever get a fair trial in such a system? Is this Maycomb, Alabama?
Further, to indicate just how out of control this has been, people who didn't even know the Zimmermans were harassed and forced out of their homes simply because they had the same name and the mob was publishing their home addresses on the Internet, convicting a man and carrying out some twisted brand of vigilante "justice" before the trial had even begun. Everyone is concerned with "Justice 4 Trayvon," but what about justice for all of those people who were victims of the mob?
O.J. Simpson walked, despite everyone's feelings that he should not have. White people did not threaten to riot, and I don't recall anyone calling the murder of his wife and her friend a "hate crime" because the victims were a different race from the perpetrator. Despite his acquittal, O.J. has never stopped paying for the crime he officially did not commit.Â
If Zimmerman is wise, he will disappear, for I doubt he and his will ever be safe. I think the jurors may wish to as well, for it was a terrible burden, a burden they did not choose but did dutifully execute, for them to bear to acquit this man in the current atmosphere. I worry that they, who have done absolutely nothing wrong, may also be targeted because they decided to be absolutely fair and impartial and not allow the storm of controversy to engulf them.
There I go, having a politically incorrect opinion in a place that is stacked so completely against me as to be completely not worth the effort of giving said opinion, but sometimes you just need to get it out.
I have no idea what the drama was around Cullen that is being mentioned around Tumblr.
I did have this idea, though, that Cullen turned out to be the key to bringing peace between Mage and Chantry. He didn't want to be, of course, but he is a man of duty.Â
Its his unique perspective on the issue, I think. He's been tortured by power-sick mages; he's witnessed mages being tortured by power-sick templars. He knows there must be a middle-ground and he wants that compromise and is one of the few with both the perspective and the ability to do something about the situation. He can bridge the gap.
I know that's a lot to put on one man's shoulders, but look at what the Warden and Hawke have accomplished. Why not Cullen?
Also, I thought I remembered something about Andrastianism/the Chantry where it specifically states that the templars don't exist only to protect the world from mages, but also to protect mages from the world. That could be a fanon thing, or it could be something my romantic heart just made up. It would be nice if it were true, though.

I never see Daveth love on Tumbler!
Knight Captain Cullen in Dragon Age 2.
Moar!
Upon seeking out Hawke he came upon an ugly sight that melted away any rage that had been harboring in his heart. After the beating of his heart calmed,...
Speaking of Sebastian, I just want to fess up now and say that I prompted this story over on the K-meme so long ago, and it was so fantastic beyond-my-imagining, even came with these beautifully ethereal illustrations, and I have long wondered what became of it as it was unfinished last I checked and I'm not sure if it was linked and finished elsewhere. I came across this image recently and it brought it back into my mind.
I don't know what I want out of DA: Inquisition, companion-wise.
I don't even know much about the plot, other than its supposedly not "Dragon Age 3" as its not a linear sequel to DA:O and DA:2.
I know that I want Cullen as a companion. A romanceable companion. But then this screws up with my head-canon, which I guess DA:2 already screwed up, anyway.
See, I had it in my head that my mage (which is my first and favorite run from DA:O), Amell, went off alone after Alistair left her, wanting to have none of that "mistress" stuff. She's somewhere between an Aequitarian and a Libertarian. Despite her loyalty to the Circle, as a Warden she doesn't feel comfortable returning to it and takes up residence in the Wilds.Â
Amell loved Cullen at the Tower, but obviously reality intruded and she had to leave him behind. She fell hard for Alistair and his flowery words and heroic actions, but reality and his unwillingness to try to foment change broke them apart, too.Â
Her story winds up with her and Cullen finding each other again, permanently this time. He lives with her at Amaranthine, etc.Â
Then DA:2 came along, placing him in Kirkwall. Now, Amell could still meet him after all of that, but Hawke intrudes. Cullen wistfully remembers his previous love, and I'm sitting there thinking... "he remembers her fondly but he's moved on. Cullen and Hawke would be kind of lovely..."
And then I start headcanoning Cullen with Hawke. D'oh!
Now, there is the possibility that Cullen may be a companion in DA: Inquisition, and I'm stuck in very difficult place.
On the one hand: romancable Cullen? yes yes yes yesyesyesYES!
On the other, what about my poor Amell? What about Hawke?
I know there can be as many AUs as I want, but I like keeping things simple. Plus, I am a romantic at heart who believes in soul-mates, etc. Who else could my Amell be with if not her true love, Cullen?
Sebastian?
Oh, that's another twist, because my canon for my Hawke is Sebastian, but as mentioned I often find myself pairing her with Cullen as well.
The cure here is obviously open relationships. Truly. XP
