Start a Nice At-Home Bar

Stock the 4 main spirits: whiskey, gin, tequila, and vodka

Bourbon makes an acceptable substitute for Whiskey if that's your taste. Make sure your spirits are a good quality- like a good house starts with a great foundation, the perfect drink starts with the perfect base. 

Keep club soda, tonic water, and ginger beer/ale on hand, they're the most requested mixers.  Some cocktails require a syrup, but it's not a necessary item. Try keeping a bitter on hand, it can make classy cocktails like a Manhattan.

At the bare minimum, have a cocktail shaker, strainer, and bar spoon on hand. Those are the most basic tools.  You can have jiggers or a clear measuring cup to measure out portions. I recommend buying champagne coupes if you only want one kind of glasses in your new bar; there's so many kinds of glasses, just buy what suits you and you know how to use.  

Keep some garnishes like fruits or olives on hand. When using cherries, don't use the neon-red versions found at the supermarket. It'll be a little more expensive, but it's worth it to invest in some good quality cherries. Such a simple thing can elevate the quality of a simple drink. 

The larger the ice cubes, the faster the drink is cooled down without getting diluted too quickly.

I, personally, find this to be irritating. Not everyone is perfect, so back off a bit. Sometimes, someone misses their mistake. It's perfectly human.

Cut up food properly

I know what you're thinking, "Really? People can't do this? Isn't this common sense?". Trust me though, I've seen people do some weird things when it comes to cutting up chicken, steak or what-have-you. 

First, figure out which hand you want to hold your knife and which hand to hold the fork. Some etiquette books will say hold the knife in the less dominant hand with the fork in your dominant hand. I like to mix things up. I go the opposite way, my right hand is better at cutting through things than my left hand. 

Reason for the Rule: Figuring this out early on keeps you from having the awkward shuffle between bites and from having to pick up and put down your utensils multiple times.

Only cut one piece at a time. Saw off little bits that can easily fit into your mouth.

Reason for the Rule: It keeps you from looking greedy and glutton-like.

Sorry this is so short, I haven't had much time lately. Besides, eating food shouldn't be that hard. We're on tumblr, tumblr eats lots of food.
