Chuck barely resists the urge to ask him how he could possibly make a mess when he was only gone for five minutes, but he just rolls his eyes behind his bangs and says, “Mike says we should hit him up at Antonio’s, everyone’s having a little blow at the hideout.” And with that, he heads to their (more or less) shared bedroom, shutting and locking the door for a little privacy as he finally gets to change out of his mucky, mud-water damp clothes and into a fresh outfit—another suit, but this one was a lot more comfortable than his work clothes.
Chuck returns, looking perkier, and explained about the call; Mike, wanting them all to gather. Hey, that was a good idea! Standing up quickly, Texas nods. “You got it. Ah hey, where’you goin?” Hearing the distinctive sound of the lock behind him, Texas swears at the door Chuck has just closed behind him. He needs to change his shirt too! He thumps on the door for a bit, then sighs; it’s been a while since he last had to do this. Chuck wouldn’t be happy, but he fixed the door last time he did it, he could fix it easy again. It was Chuck’s fault anyway, he shouldn’t lock the door. Backing up a bit, Texas exhales, eyeing the door, then takes a kick to the door, close to the lock. The sound of splintering wood is loud and sudden, though Texas is sure he hears a shriek. Dusting off his trouser leg, he wanders into the room, snags one of his own clean shirts, and leaves again, leaving the door open, broken, and looking worse for wear. Removing his dirty shirt, Texas changes, puts his tie and jacket bon, and grabs his hat, heading outside and downstairs. Thurman and Ruby are at the bottom of the stairs. Thurman looks confused, and Ruby seems angry. “Don’t worry, Texas can fix it. I fixed it last time, didn’t I?” That just earns him a tut and a heavy sigh of frustration. Texas makes sure to whistle extra loudly as he walks out the shop door.
He’s sat in the car several minutes later, still waiting for Chuck, the whistled tune turned into full on singing. “T For Texas, T For Tenneseeeee, T For Texas, T For Tennesseeeee…T For Thelmaaa, ohh that Gal Made A Wreck Out Of Meee~” He taps on the steering wheel, impatient and yodelling.
