New year, new blog?

So I want to make this blog a lot more interesting and fun for everybody who comes across it. I think starting in the new year, I'm going to redesign this entire blog a little bit and make it more accessible and easy to use. I am active a lot more now so I think it's a fantastic idea c: In other news, I'm still taking WIP submissions! Show us what you're finishing off the year with. So I really wanna cosplay a male version of Elsa but I can't find a cosplay anywhere. Do you know where I could find one?

Gender swapped cosplays can be a bit tricky, because not many exist in the cosplay shop world online, unless you go through a commissioner. I think this is a perfect opportunity for you to let your creative juices flow! The best way to make a gender swapped cosplay is to take specific elements from the original design and translate them into the opposite gender. You may have to improvise and try to assemble your own outfit, but the end result will definitely not disappoint! Think color scheme, coverage (amount of material) and the overall style/theme/setting of the original design and go from there!

What exactly did the clasp of the chain clasp to under your pauldrons? Thanks for the tutorial by the way. It's been a huge help!

Hey there! I poked the holes for the clasps myself through the underside of the pauldron. The cheese cloth by then was hard and stiff enough that it was perfectly sturdy for the clasp to hold!

Sorry for the messy backgrounds! Here’s a couple WIP photos of the helmet for my Big Sister cosplay from Bioshck 2.

The helmet is mostly made out of paper mache and foam. I primed it with 3 layers of white acrylic Gesso, painted with 2-3 layers of metallic gold and silver Krylon spray paint. For the final touches, I weathered the helmet with matte brown and black brush on paint.

I've gotta tweak some stuff on the blog as far as submissions go, but regular features are now becoming a thing!! Because this is more of a cosplay GUIDE, the spotlight will be more centered around the process of piecing your cosplay together instead of just seeing the final product.. Which meeeans- I want to see WIP's! Sent me sets of your work in progress photos and collages of your projects. Send me tutorials you created; whether they're videos, photos, or anything. This blog was created to help everyone and anyone needing help reach the highest level of craft they can get to! With that being said, I wand to continue submissions and I'll be ten times more active on here so I can push my answers out and make sure everyone's happy! Is it weird that I want to cosplay Mercy form overwatch eventhought I am a guy. Would it be possible to make a male version of it.

Of course!! I myself have seen plenty of gender bent Overwatch cosplays. I think you should definitely go for it! It'll be a fun challenge, putting all the elements together and translating them into a male character. I can't wait to see your work!!

Hello I have a few questions about gendetbend cosplay. Majority of the the cosplays I want to do are female. I plan to work with costume makers to make male versions of them.

I think gender bent cosplays are awesome! They're super creative because you're taking elements from the original version and translating them to the opposite sex. I looove gender bent cosplays. What questions did you have?? I'd be happy to answer them!

I followed your guide for the Zelda armor, I was wondering if there are particular steps to making the crown and or chest piece that are also pictured or just follow the same directions just shaping differently. Thanks for your time and helpful insight!

Hi there! For all the clay pieces I used the same technique- "I drew everything on paper and placed a ziploc over the drawing. On that ziploc I molded the shapes with white Sculpey clay. The plastic prevented it from sticking to the paper and allowed me to move my work out of the way to see the drawing. It also helped to line up the clay with my drawing so I could maintain its accuracy,"- quote from a similar question I answered. It would also be helpful to invest in some sculpting tools from Hobby Lobby or a craft store in your area. My set cost around five bucks and they are swell~

Hi! What did you use to hold the crown together?

I mostly used wire, hot glue, and craft foam for the entire thing. It was a quick crown job as I was running out of time :$

In regards to the Zelda cosplay tutorial: How do you attach the clasps to the foam shoulder pads(meaning did you sew it , or glue it?)And the two separate pieces of armor were glued together, or only held in place by chains and clasps? PS thank you

I poked a hole through the reinforced foam and looped a small metal loop through it. I then used clasps on both ends to attach to the loops~
