Ludovico Marchetti (1853 - 1909)
The Flight of the Swallows by John Henry Lorimer, 1906
This is the kind of painting that instantly calms me and lets my mind wander. I find myself imagining what they’re seeing, what’s just happened. The warm light, the children’s curiosity, it all feels so alive and intimate. There’s something beautifully simple about it, like a quiet moment I wish I could step into.
Isabella and the Pot of Basil (1907) by John William Waterhouse, RA (English, 1849 – 1917), signed and dated 'J.W. Waterhouse/1907.' (lower right), oil on canvas, 41 ¼ x 29 1/8 in. (104.8 x 74 cm.), Private Collection
