Oxytocins

Why does the Human listen to music? Because it releases oxytocins. Why does it release oxytocins? Because there is something in the music that the human finds intellectually stimulating; it may have a catchy beat, it may be the rhymes, it may be imagery. It may not be directly related to self-preservation or furthering of the species by itself, but this is one example showing Mother Nature wants the Human to seek out things that are intellectual.

Mother Nature programmed the human brain to seek out intellectual activities in order to motivate the Human to continue innovating, whether in art, engineering, or medicine (Why do we get tired of listening to the same music? Why do we like irregularly shaped buildings? Why do I find enjoyment learning about the human body?). Constant innovations will continually improve the quality of life of the Human race over time, and the ability of the Human to manipulate its surroundings. This way, the Human race will eventually be able to expand into the interplanetary, bringing life into the lifeless.
