So he’s gone. That’s a shame. I would have liked to have seen that. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Burnout self care
I’ve always struggled with balance in life. I also have a tendency to take things a little too seriously, which led to multiple burnouts in my life. How to avoid burning out is a talk for another time (but there are some great posts that could help here). Today I want to give you some tips on what to do after burning out.:
Breathe -Seeing this might make you want to leave BUT I have to say it. When I get truly exhausted, it feels like I can’t breathe. It almost feels like my heart is struggling with me. Sit down and breathe. Remind yourself that you are there and now. Nowhere else and in no other time.
Are your basic needs met? -We’re talking the most basic physical needs. Are you sleeping enough? Are you eating enough? How is your body feeling? Fix whatever isn’t working. Sleep more or eat healtier. maybe you need more exercise or cleaner space. Imagine you’re your own hamster. Take care of your hamster.
Stop working -Might not be possible to stop working entirely but eliminate as much as you can. Delegate as many tasks as you can, forget everything unimportant and half-ass what can be half-assed. And be honest while planning this. You need rest right now.
Go outside -Go for a walk, for a run or just go sit on a park bench. Get outside, breathe the fresh air
Exercise -It can be anything you want as long as you move your body. You can just simply go for a walk or stretch. Just make sure you move around
Don’t be afraid to ask for help -Ask anyone who could help. Ask coworkers or classmates to help you with work, ask your friends to help you get your life in order, ask loved ones to be by your side. You can try therapy too!
Low effort fun -You will desperately need some fun but I’d advise you start off easy. Hobbies can make you set expectations and you might end up resenting them due to your current mindset and exhaustion. Watch a movie or listen to music. Play a videogame or play with your pets
Be with people you love -Spend time around other people. The chances are you might have isolated yourself for the past several days. Go out with friends, spend some quality time with your partner or visit your family if you want
Hobbies -After you start to feel a bit better, try to actively do something fun. Make things, read thins and learn things!
Take your time -Some people might experience mild exhaustion and all they need is a self care evening. Maybe you’re exhausted after a long week and you need is a day of rest. But you also might need weeks or even months to recover from long months of pushing yourself past your limits
Figure out where it went wrong -Find out what lead up to you burning out. Was it too much work? Or does your work stress you out way too much? Maybe you simply didn’t spend your free time in fulfilling ways? Maybe you really need a change of scenery? Find out what went wrong and avoid that mistake in the future!
I hope I helped and have a good week.
