Reaper was raised to not trust mortals, that way he doesn't feel bad about reaping souls as much. He was taught only the bad things and not the good things and gets this very narrow minded opinion of mortals
Eventually he refuses to reap a child's soul because it's a child. Papyrus mostly delt with the children and always did as told. But Reaper. He couldn't hurt them
So the gods cast him out, taking his wings away, and sending him in the mortal world as punishment
Scared and alone, Reaper doesn't know what to do, where to go. He's around in his skewed opinion the worse things in existence
Until Geno finds him and takes him home, Geno treats Reaper how'd you treat a dog who lost it's trust in humans
There's multiple times Reaper thinks Geno is going to hurt him. But, he doesn't. Not even when angry
It's weird and confusing. How are all mortals bad if this one is so nice? He must be an expectation to the rule, right?
Eventually Geno would invite family snd friends over. And Reaper gets more confused
This rule for mortals that he was taught. Was it a lie?
When asking Geno about it, Geno explains that some mortals are nice, but some aren't, and most are in a gray area
Reaper is confused, interested, and scared, but not as much as before
Geno helps Reaper with everything in the mortal world, as they await the day his punishment was to be over
When the day comes. He doesn't want to leave Geno. So he stays with Geno
