Better late than never! Finally got the energy to work again!
Hereâs a comic about venturing into Saturn!
https://astrogeekzco.com/2019/01/10/what-would-you-see-if-you-fell-into-saturn/
My heart might be bruised, but it will recover and become capable of seeing beauty of life once more. Itâs happened before, it will happen again, Iâm sure. When someone leaves, itâs because someone else is about to arriveâIâll find love again.

If I donât reblog this purest of pure everytime it crosses my dash, assume I have died, send the cops
THIS IS MARRIAGE!!
Thats right!
Permission to be a bad ass. Nod.
He looks back at the guy like, âSEE THAT? SHE SAID YES. YOUâRE SO FUCKED.â
Like, guys. Sparta was so kick ASS sometimes when it came to women. Spartan women were given these small knives so that if their husbands came home and tried to hit them or assault them, they had a weapon within reach. That weapon was for CUTTING THEIR HUSBANDSâ FUCKING FACES so that when he went out in public everyone would know he was an asshole, abusing jerkface and they would publicly shame him.
LETâS JUST TALK ABOUT SPARTAN WOMEN FOR A SECOND.
In Sparta, women could own land and were considered citizens. THAT IS A HUGE BIG FUCKING DEAL. Why? Because that was RARE AS FUCK and there are lots of places TODAY where women donât even get that much.
Divorce was totally fine, and a woman could expect to keep her own wealth and get custody of the kids because paternal lineage wasnât very important. And it didnât make her a pariah! She could totally remarry, no big deal at all.
Spartan women participated in some fuckinâ badass sporting events, too. And because they were expected to be as physically fit as the Spartan menfolk (who all had to serve compulsory military duties, btw, and couldnât marry until they finished them at thirty) they didnât have time for lots of swishy dresses. So they wore notoriously short skirts. According to some accounts, their thighs were visible at all times. HOLY SHIT.Â
Also, In Sparta men only got their names on their graves if they died in battle. And women? Women only got their names on their graves if they died in childbirth. THE SPARTANS COMPARED CHILDBIRTH TO FUCKING BATTLE AND IT WAS VIEWED AS A GODDAMN BADASS AND HONORABLE WAY TO GO OUT.
FUCKING SPARTAN WOMEN. THIS DUDE HAD FUCKINâ BETTER MAKE SURE SHEâS COOL WITH WHATEVER HEâS DOING, IF HE KNOWS WHATâS FUCKINâ GOOD FOR HIM.
^^ I throughly enjoyed the history lesson dashed with the colorful adjectives.
I mean, he knew she was Cersei⌠lol
And the women were trained the exact same way as men were. As children they were equals ; they were not allowed to wear clothing until a certain age and at that point they were sent away to a training camp until they were 18. It was only the men who were sent into the wilderness for an extra two years to ensure their strength for battle.Â
Plus the women could marry whomever they pleased and the men werenât allowed to live with the women in their house until she said so. And they were tough in Sparta but also all about family. To have male offspring was good luck, to have female offspring was an honour.Â
This part of the movie was true; King Leonidas really did kill a man because he insulted his wife and he always ensured that he had his wifeâs approval. And while Leonidas was away in battle she did rule Sparta on her own.Â
Sparta knew what was up.Â
#Hiccstrid
As a historian I can confirm all of this is totally true and amazingly badass.
Itâs also worthy of note that people like to romanticize Athens because of its democracy whereas Sparta was a hardened monarchy. But Athens was nowhere near as open for women as Sparta was.
Women havenât had this kind of equality for over 2000 years since. Â Which is complete bullshit.
The lady I have an honour of dating is in spirit a Spartan. She's totally a badass in everything she does.
âwe donât really know how this stuff affects peopleâ are you serious? TAKE WOMEN SERIOUSLY AND YOU WOULD.
honestly this illustrates perfectly the ridiculous importance of men standing up for women.

So true on so many levels... wink wink dork. Lol

Pro-tip: white privilege doesn't mean white people have perfect lives.
It means that white people do not have to deal with institutionalized, systemic racism in addition to their everyday problems. It means institutionalized, systemic racism does not cause white peopleâs everyday problems. It means when white people go home and turn on their TVs after a long, hard day at work, they can rest assured knowing that they will not only be guaranteed to see people who look like them on the screen, but they will never have to actively search to find a positive depiction of people who look like them. It means even when white people buy their groceries with food stamps, they donât have to worry that theyâll be followed around the supermarket for âno reason.â You think you have no white privilege because youâre poor? Think again. You think your white privilege disappears because youâre not a cisgendered heterosexual? Think again. You think your white privilege disappears because youâre disabled? Think again. It means that all problems white people face are not exclusive to white people. People of color face those same problems, too. But in addition to any problem white people face, people of color must also bear the burden of dealing with an entire social, cultural, political, economic climate that works against us each and every single day. And hereâs the thing about the effect of racism on PoCâs everyday lives: itâs not like adding one more little thing. This isnât simple math. Racism isnât just a âminus 1â on our radar. It informs, guides, and shapes the way every other problem is handled. Think about it. When white people are pulled over by the cops, their biggest fear is jail time. When black people are pulled over by the cops, our biggest fear is that theyâll kill us and we wonât even get 30 seconds on the 5:00 news.Â
I was told by several friends and tumblr users that my Fisher the Voidfish cosplay from The Adventure Zone was being shared uncredited via pintrest and tumblr, so I hurried to put out my big compilation post faster than I usually do. I would very much appreciate it if everyone could reblog this version of the post, instead of any other post floating around that doesnât correctly credit the costume back to me!! As an artist and a fan, it was incredibly hurtful that this happened. Although the original reposter has apologized profusely for this and properly credited me afterwards, itâs incredibly difficult to undo the damage that results from the reposting any uncredited image in a large fandom.Â
All photos in this post are taken by either myself, scribblesafterdark, or by cowbuttcrunchies!! My darling Magnus is the other half of cowbuttcrunchies. I would also like to take this time to shoutout to my friend automb, who provided endless support with this costume and helped me with cutting and trimming all the tentacles on Fisherâs dress, They also made Junior for me under my guidance, while I was going nutso over the rest of the costume.Â
Thank you again to everyone who commented and tagged me on the other post, and I hope that everyone reblogs this version instead!!! As usual, more information about my work process will be under the cut, so if youâre interested in that kind of thing, read on! đÂ

'It's an awful thing to think about': shock therapy, lungs removed as tuberculosis treatments
Florence Genaille was just a little girl in a Brandon, Man., sanatorium when she says doctors bound her to a gurney, pumped her body with electric currents and then took notes as her fingers curled, her arms shook and her neck strained backwards.
It was 1953. The Ojibwa girl from Rolling River First Nation was at the sanatorium to be treated for tuberculosis.
Today, she believes it was no treatment. It was, she says, a medical experiment and she was their âguinea pigâ â an assessment that today, Genaille shares with hundreds of survivors of those sanatoriums, which have been closed for decades.
