Author’s Note: LOL I don’t even know with that summary. Basically, this is what happened in my HC when MC stripped for Ethan when he woke her up in book 2 (before meeting the devil, Leland Bloom)

There is something intoxicating about Ethan’s shock as she moves around her bedroom, completely naked with a confidence she doesn’t entirely feel. After all, stripping for her boss is definitely a risk, even if they had slept together, and in that very room no less. The move is even more of a gamble when said boss is already angry with her about the Gwyneth Monroe case.

When she halts a few feet away, she can see Ethan is quickly recovering, his gaze pressing heavily against her naked body, his jaw tight as though fighting an impulse. Everything in his demeanor, from the clenched fists to the thunderous storm in his eyes, confirms that he is livid.

It thrills her.

“Like what you see?”

Okay wow...Holy bejesus!!! This was so hot omfg!!! I absolutely loved this. The pic of DG you used in the moodboard is doing something, either good or bad, it's yet to be decided lol.

I love how we could see Ethan's inner turmoil then Lilac was literally roaming around naked like the delicious meal he craves, but he can't have for some stupid diet!!! But who is he in the hands of Lilac? He had to cave in at last!!

I screamed like a feral at that omg!! I love when he bosses around when they are intimate, it's really hot. And then...ohh wow....the way their bodies respond to each other? It's incredible!! It was going so well, so delicious, but then he pulled an Ethan Ramsey stunt.

He releases her.

“Can you get the butter out please,” Ethan asks. He makes a motion to the microwave at the opposite end of the kitchen to the fridge. 

“From the mik-ro-wavve?” 

Ethan sputters, “Excuse me?” 

Becca brings the melted ramekin of butter over to him. Places it on the counter at the same time she rises to her toes, lips grazing the shell of his ear. “Mik-ro-wavve.” 

He stops stirring. Practically drops the spoon and launches lunch all over the kitchen. 

“Where did you -” Ethan’s cheeks are getting redder by the second and his mouth is opening and closing like a fish. 

Becca’s shit-eating grin says it all. 

She reaches for his tablet and presses play on the video that sits atop the recipe. 

They watch Nigella Lawson sensually lick her fingers. In captured slow motion. The camera panning purposefully up from her chest. 

And then she says the grossly exaggerated word. 

Ethan’s jaw drops. 

Becca’s brow rises. “If you can’t beat the competition, join ‘em,” she winks.

Another day, another hefty sigh leaving her lungs the moment they enter their house. Another night, another charity event. This time they were supporting the Boston Historical Foundation when the words were said. 

“We’re either getting married, or we’re breaking up,” Odette huffs, kicking off her heels and heading straight towards the back door - the modern bi-folding wall of windows in their Colonial looking out over the bay. 

Ethan hangs back. Leans down to righten her shoes, places her clutch on the sideboard where it belongs - effortlessly puts their home back in order, the way he knows she likes it. 

Odette sits on the large circular lounger, legs folded under her summery evening gown. Her manicured fingers undoing the fortified hairdo, pulling bobby pins from every which way, and her eyes trained on the stars ahead. 

Ethan comes back with pink lemonade in hand. 

Seeing the can of Minute Maid without a crystal glass of gin by its side was enough to pull an exasperated chuckle from her - What a week to swear off alcohol. 

Ode takes it and they sit in silence for a while. Ethan helps free the rest of her hair from its confines while her mind keeps relaying the evening. He says nothing as the time passes and her heavy breathing relaxes and condensation pools at the bottom of the can of untouched lemonade. 

Soon they’re cuddled up in one anothers’ arms, gazing out at the rolls of the steady midnight waves. 

Ethan wants to ask her if that’s what she really wants - nothing’s impossible. Wants to know why she listens to them - it’s no one’s business but theirs. Yet he doesn’t ask. He just holds her close and waits. 

And waits. 

And waits. 

And finally... 

“Sorry,” she mutters, coming back into herself. “It pisses me off.” 

He kisses her temple and holds her tighter, his arms anchored at her waist. “I know.” 

“’At this stage you’d know if you’d want to marry him or not. What are you waiting for? Time isn’t guaranteed’,” she bitterly mimics the words of the pretentious old woman from earlier. “What are we waiting for?” 

Ethan doesn’t speak - doesn’t need to; for she answers her own question. 

“Maybe marriage isn’t the answer for everyone,” Odette laments, leaning farther into his chest like being closer to him will absolve everything. “I shouldn’t have bit my tongue and laughed it off. It was rude - she doesn’t even know us personally.” 

It was another day, another outing. Another comment from a nosey whoever projecting their ideals onto them - pressuring the couple of five years to live a conventional existence. 

He kisses her again.

Do you own your dream home? If not, what does that dream home look like?

Pooja: Hundred and ten percent! Having a Boho-themed Home has always been my dream, and I finally got to fulfil that. This home ticks all the check-boxes for me, including a pool and a games room. So even though we went a bit... overboard with this, I adore how it turned out at the end. (Turning to Ethan) What are you thoughts?

Ethan: If you had asked me this question three years ago, I would have sworn that I would never live in such a house. That it was too maximalist for me. But now, living here with you and Jenner, and awaiting the little ones, I think the warmth and brightness this home provided would be seriously lacking in any thing I would have chosen. (He smiles at her) Although honestly? Any place where I get to live with you is my dream home.

What is your favorite room to spend time in with each other?

Pooja: Anywhere and everywhere. Every corner of this house was decorated with love, with things that carry numerous memories. Even though our time spent at home is minute as compared to the time we spend at work, it is still our safe haven, a palce where we can hide away from the world. But if I have to choose, I would say the reading room because we both are Bibilophiles, the games room where there are family gatherings for a game of Clue or the classic Carrom and Jenner’s Room.

Ethan: I agree with her. All my life, I have regarded my house as four walls enclosing a bed where I sleep at night. It never held any significance in my life until she came and made the four brick walls feel like a place of significance. And to answer the question, The Master Bedroom, The Kitchen, The Reading Room and Jenner’s Room.

I've been wondering about Ethan and Cassies future. Specifically when it comes to children. We know they get married but do they have children? How many? Who brings it up? Do they agree on everything? Does Ethan get scared? Does Cassie? How do they handle their careers? Does Ethan worry because of what happened to Dolores?

Sorry for the flood of questions! I'm curious about what you see for their future!

Thanks for the ask, CJ! I’ve been thinking about their future lately and your questions inspired me to put something in writing. I haven’t figured everything out yet, but I know some of it. I’m doing it headcanon style (my first time with a hc, so I hope I get it right).

Two Become Four

There is a history of fraternal twins on the maternal side of her family. So, Cassie knew that her chances of conceiving twins were much higher as a result.

As a doctor, she understood a twin pregnancy could be high risk, especially in her 30s. And her experience with Dolores so early in her residency had added to the worry that something could go wrong, if and when she and Ethan decided to have children.

They had been married a little over two years and had just come home from visiting Little Ethan Hudson, a semi-annual trip they made together when Ethan brought up the idea of having children.

They talked about it, a lot. Ethan had told her during the fMRI scan in her first year that kids weren’t in the cards for him, and she wanted him to be absolutely sure because “we can’t exactly send them back.” To which Ethan had scoffed and said “Rookie” in that tone that told her she was being silly.

Her pregnancy was not an easy one, and she suffered a miscarriage in the first trimester. They were both heartbroken and neither was ready to try again after that.

Cassie didn’t realize she was pregnant again until she was over two months along. She had been feeling rundown for weeks and Ethan pushed her to get tested to uncover the underlying symptoms for her fatigue. They were surprised to say the least.

Given what had happened before, she and Ethan kept the news to themselves until she was at least 20 weeks along. The only exceptions were Sienna and Max, who were too astute to not notice something was different.

Cassie and Ethan found out they were having twins at her 12-week ultrasound. They were not surprised, but it did give them pause. All of a sudden, the pregnancy and kids became more real.

Ethan spent hours doing research on all the risks associated with twin pregnancies until Cassie put her foot down. She wanted him to experience the joys with her and not turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It was not smooth sailing as she did suffer from high blood pressure. She cut back on her hours at the hospital after a fainting incident. Ethan thought he’d have to pull the Chief card, but Cassie beat him to it by asking to be taken off her attending duties and only focus on the Diagnostics Team.

They scheduled a C-section during the 36th week, leaving nothing to chance. Their family and friends took over the maternity ward waiting room and it felt like a party at times so that the nurses had to shush the group more than once.

Ethan led Alan, Robert and Olivia Valentine to see the babies first -- two girls with Ethan’s brown hair and Cassie’s green eyes. The proud grandparents had tears running down their faces as they held hands outside the nursery window.

They named the girls Sophie Clara and Eloise Alma. They wanted the girls to have their own identity with the first names; they created a list of their favorite names and took a methodical approach to narrowing it down (analysis of baby name meanings, plus negotiations that quickly led to the bedroom). The middle names were legacy: Clara was Alan’s mother’s name while Alma was Cassie’s great aunt who she admired greatly.

Cassie and Ethan took a sabbatical from Edenbrook for the first six months, wanting to spend time bonding as a family. After the six months were up, they hired a nanny to help out when they were at work.

Ethan knew Cassie could handle anything, but he still worried that she might be penalized for her time away by less enlightened minds. She proved everyone wrong when she returned on her first day to solve a case that had stumped her replacement (Naveen who had come out of retirement to take over temporarily).

They don’t agree on everything when it comes to the girls. Cassie wants the girls to be independent and explore the world around them (much like she and Max did). Ethan wants to control everything because he’s afraid of all that could go wrong.

Ethan worries constantly, especially about being a good father. He spends way too many hours watching the girls sleep and running scenarios in his mind of all the ways he could mess up.

When Cassie finds out, they have a huge fight (in whispers so as not to wake the girls) until they realize that they both agree he’s being an idiot.

Cassie asks him if he trusts her to call him out when he’s being unreasonable. He sheepishly admits yes. Then she tells him to stop being “Dr. Ramsey from her intern year” because she "married Ethan Freakin’ Ramsey not Dr. Terminator."

He does much better after that and whenever he forgets, he’s treated to a text from Cassie with the words “Some things are worth any risk.” That always settles him down.

By the time, the girls are five years old he’s learned to stop worrying (too much).

An unremarkable, lowkey evening. No dressing up, no plans. Just dinner at hers. Cooking together in her cozy kitchen while a record plays in the living room. 

The space is close; not quite so cramped that they’re stepping on one another, but near enough he can smell her perfume mingling with the herbs. Each movement they make becomes a dance around the space - Odette elegantly moving to the side when he reaches into a drawer, Ethan pressing into the countertop as she moves from the cabinet to the refrigerator behind him. Every step, every motion, feels like always. Like they’ve been moving in tandem forever. And they have. 

They’ve been in synch longer than either ever cared to realize. 

Ethan muses on their dynamics - on their past and what’s to come - as he washes dishes in the sink. 

It’d been on his mind since she moved into her own place almost two years ago. And times before that when their sleepovers were simply platonic, if Ethan’s being honest. 

His hand’s moving in slow circular motions, eyes unfocused as his mind keeps whirling. 

Odette notices his blank stare on the soap-filled basin. Places a tender hand in the middle of his back. The simple, mundane contact brings Ethan back to the present; bringing his automated scrubbing to a stop. 

“You...” he starts. Takes time to breathe, to collect bits of his previous thoughts. Ethan places the dish and sponge down gingerly back in the sink. Wipes his hands on the tea towel tucked in his back pocket, before he cradles her face. 

Ode’s eyes are still so bright even after she’s taken the day off. Taken her heels off. She cut her hair a few days ago and looks more beautiful than ever, if it’s even possible. Ethan smiles as his eyes trail quickly down to her boyfriend jeans and an impractical sweater the color of her signature orchid perfume, her shoulders exposed. Parts of her she’d never show anyone, on display just for him. 

She’s bloomed - blossomed into an extraordinary woman in the years he’s known her. Ethan can’t believe every single day she chooses to love him back. 

This apartment has been good for her. 

Two years ago she was afraid of the quiet and her own thoughts. She filled the silence with music - vinyls he had waiting at her door the day she moved in, and the sound of her friends as they FaceTimed for hours. She wanted to do it on her own. As the months went by she reveled in her silence - her corner of calm in a hectic career. Filling it with keystrokes and, luckily for Ethan, him. Their evenings, mornings, afternoons, entire days spent in her abode have become his most cherished memories - his happiest of times. Moments like tonight that’re frequent and still not as many as he’d like. 

Sapphire eyes looking into fresh emerald. Soft supple skin of her fresh, heart shaped face under the coarse pads of his fingers. Her pink lips plump and parted, waiting. Even after all this time he can’t settle his racing heart every time he looks at her. Every time she’s near he feels like he’s walking through a botanical garden on a gorgeous late-spring day. 

Ode places a hand atop one of his own, and Ethan finally speaks his truth. 

“If it weren’t for you, I may have lived my whole life thinking I was happy.” 

He doesn’t need to say any more - she’s seen the change in the once stoic attending firsthand. In how he opened himself up to friendship, to confront his trauma, to mingling at charity events, to saying how he feels. Ethan Ramsey doesn’t hide behind pretenses and preconceived notions any longer. He’s grown. With her. For her. Because of her. With a little bit of love. 

And now all that love is about to pour out of him and into the unknown - into something he’s never done before. 

“I love you,” he says. 

Her smile is small. She’s completely entranced, feeling suspended in the expansive blues of his eyes, in his all-consuming gaze. Odette can feel the certainty, the anxiety, the love radiating from him. 

In the way he’s shifting his weight subtly from one foot to the other she knows he’s not done. That this wasn’t just a sweet compliment brought on by the wave of emotion. That there’s something he needs to say. 

Ethan’s voice is low, so uncharacteristically soft as he says; 

“Move in with me? Please.” 

It could have been a question or a command - it didn’t really matter. 

It wasn’t a question, at all. There was only one response for a boy that’s all-in from a girl in love with her best friend.

First of all its Odette and Ethan....you write anything about them, I feel so happy and giddy!! And this? This was exceptionally beautiful. I've said this million times but their chemistry, their dynamic is so soft, so tender. The way he softly, almost like a whisper said those two sentences.... it's just too precious. The way they know each other's body language. I love them with all my heart and this was absolutely beautiful 😭❤️

Evading It All

They slipped up. 

No. 

He slipped up. 

He gave in to his weaknesses. 

Well, he really only had one. One reoccurring weakness. 

The doe-eyed brunette biting her wine stained lips. Gazing at him through long lashes. Her perfume of mandarin oranges and peonies wafting around, making him lose all his sensibilities. 

There wasn’t anyone around. No one would know they were leaving together.

She so close and looking at him so intently. 

She’s willing things to happen and he keeps saying he wants no part of it. But he’s struggling to hang onto his will. 

It’s like this night won’t end unless he does something about. 

And he does. 

He whisks her away and kisses her in a dark corner no one can see and then it all happens from there. 

They didn’t spend the night. 

Even if they did Ethan would have left before she realized. 

He regretted compromising themselves the fifth minute he was left alone. 

Now it’s morning and he can’t get the images of last night out of his head. Can’t get the urge to pull her aside and kiss her senseless out of his head. It’s starting to creep into his muscles. Itching to do the one thing he knows he shouldn’t. 

There’s only one thing Ethan can think to do to stop it -- be the man he used to be. The man he was before her. 

So he spends the rest of the day avoiding her. Not returning her smiles meant just for him in passing.

She’s updating him on a case and touches his arm. She knows he’s being weird, trying to breakdown his front and find out why. She’s trying to break through the ice. 

He steps away, out of her grasp. 

And they both can hear the cracks in the silence.

Home Tour!

Genevieve: House Tour! I love showing off the apartment, it's so much better since I moved in. Less dark and scary and more homey. Ethan: Always finding an opportunity to insult my taste. Gen: Babe, this place was a dungeon of solitude. I've brought light and colors. Ethan: *looks at her with heart eyes* I won't deny that.

Floor Plan: {They live in East Boston, on the water, the building you used in your picta series actually lol. Then Den is considered the office)

Gen: We decided to stay in Ethan's apartment, since it's just the two of us, it seems silly to have a bigger place right now. This is perfect for us and our doggy son. Ethan: But we've agreed to move to a bigger apartment in the building once we start having kids. Gen: And then once they're a little older, we'll get a house. It's a good plan for us, and it works out well. We love the city life, and want our future children to be immersed in that. Ethan: But we also want them to be able to have a yard one day, and a tree house like G had as a child. So once they're around 5 or 6 and of school age, we'll move outside the city and into a house.

1. What does the outside of the home look like? (Front/back yard, garden, pool, etc)

Ethan: I picked this place specifically for the views, and the outdoor space it had. Gen: It's super fancy. Jenner loves doing his morning runs with Dad by the water.

2. Living room and home office (if any)?

Gen: When I moved in, he had the worst leather couch. *laughs* Like a classic bachelor pad couch. I convinced him to go furniture shopping after a few weeks after, that was a fun adventure. Dr. Grumpy was very indecisive. Ethan: You wanted a pink accent chair! Gen: I was joking! Ethan: Sure, Rookie. Gen: Anyway... we agreed on a nice gray sectional and a little color in the accents. It's super comfy and homey. Ethan: And my office has remained untouched. Gen: Not true! It's gotten a few new additions! Like my photo on the desk, and the plant!

3. Kitchen and dining room?

Gen: I love the open floor plan. I can see my private chef from my comfy corner of the couch.  Ethan: Did you just refer to me as your private chef? Gen: Am i wrong? Ethan: *opens his mouth to argue but decides not to* Gen: Exactly.  Ethan: Back to the task at hand. Our styles are similar, which worked out well. We love a modern contemporary look.  Gen: Very clean and put together, but still leaves from for some personality. 

4. Bedrooms? (Master, guest, others)

Gen: We have two bedrooms, the master - ours - and a guest room. We both like a relaxing vibe in the bedroom. Because we’re so busy at work and always on the go, we like coming home to a space that’s relaxed and calming.  Ethan: You did make a few changes since you moved in. The comforter is new, and floral. Gen: You literally gave me your credit card and said “Text me photos of options, but choose whatever you think is best, G.”  Ethan: I have to stop doing that. Gen: You act like you hate it. It’s nice. Our room is perfect. And so is the guest room. 

5. Other rooms?

Ethan: The closet is her favorite, I think. Gen: I’ve literally always wanted to be fancy and boujee enough to have a walk in closet, and now I do. But I love the balcony, too. And the master bath has amazing lighting. 

Ethan: The building has some great amenities. The gym is quite nice, especially on mornings when it’s raining, and I can’t go for a run outdoors, or when I want to avoid Lahela at the hospital gym.  Gen: He’s your best friend, don’t even lie. Ethan: He is not. If anyone is my best friend, it’d be you. Followed by Naveen, and then your brother.  Gen: You two get along too well, I hate it sometimes. 

6. Do you own your dream home? If not, what does that dream home look like?

Gen: No? I mean, like, I love our home and it’s perfect for right now. But I don’t like it’s our, or my, dream home. Ethan: Your dream home, love, aside from a home on the beach, is that colonial/tudor in Newton. The one we passed a few months back, that you then dragged me back to when it was for sale.  Gen: *gasps* Yes. I’m in love with it. It was built in ‘37, it makes my history loving heart so happy. 

Gen: I think the interior needs an update. We’d definitely redo the kitchen and dining room area, give the hardwood floors a darker stain, as well. But it’s stunning. It’s a five bedroom, with a pool and a perfect sized yard, and the master suite has a walk-in closet the size of our current guest room. There’s also a finished basement, and a family room and a den. It’s perfect. Ethan: Don’t forget the wine room. You talked about that for hours. Gen: It puts our mini wine fridge to shame.  Ethan: I do love the house, as well. We just need to hope that come the time when we’re in the market for a home, it’s for sale again. Gen: I’ll pray to every god in the universe. 

What is your favorite room to spend time in with each other?

Gen: *snickers* Ethan: PG, answer please. Gen: Fine. The living room, or kitchen. I love cooking with you, or watching a movie and snuggling.  Ethan: I do enjoy that as well. Although, my favorite, is the bedroom.  Gen: You said -- Ethan: Not for that reason, G. But, I do love when we’re laying in bed, and reading together. It’s by far one of my favorite ways we spend time together. Gen: Really? Ethan: Yes. 

And because I’m Extra AF, this is the floor plan for the apartment they move to after Lizzie is born

They live there until Lizzie is 6 and Grayson is 4. And then move to the house mentioned above. And they also get the beach house, one day. Because they’re both super rich and fancy doctors.

The world is still bathed in darkness when she wakes, the fading moonlight filtering in through the open window. There’s a pleasant ache in her muscles, a warmth that still lingers from the night before. 

Genevieve stretches, the high thread count sheets pooling at her waist. The unfamiliar softness makes way for her to truly taking in her surroundings, and the arm that’s draped across her waist. 

“Oh, right.” She giggles quietly, snuggling deeper into Ethan’s embrace. 

“What?” Ethan’s sleep laden voice comes from behind her, his breath on her shoulder. 

“I forgot I went home with you.”

Ohh how I love the fact that they are spending nights together, in Ethan's apartment, away from the world, in the little bubble they created. Sienna being so supportive and comparing them with Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth always gives me life. Also when she called Gen Dolphin..🥺♥️
