When Your BF Wants the Hoodie Back || Ares & Lene
Infamous || Laundry Day (No point)
'A little'...
Ares echoed it to himself as he met Lene's smile with a raised brow.
"That's a... 'modest' way to put it..." he said, filtering a mirror of her emphasis through his own deadpan that gestured at the Black Knight's near complete outfit with a sweeping glance.
She was only missing the pants he now wore, which his tunic made a fine substitute for on her anyway. It even surprised him just how well it worked as a gown at her height, oversized and improperly worn as it was. All the borrowed pieces looked the same, would obviously look the same on anyone else but him, but something about this was different.
Different from the many looks she'd worn for herself and her work, different still from his respect for how she made each look effortless, and different still from own simple pride in the quality of his gear.
Words failed him again to translate it beyond this gut-deep ache, even as it balled into a lump at the base of his throat and unknowingly reduced his voice to soft mumblings this whole time. He did know it was far from anger though.
That it had become as deep as a trance, however, was something Ares only realized once Lene broke it by reaching for the shoulder of her borrowed cloak. "Yes, of course," Ares answered much more hastily now, almost as quick as he spun himself around to face the wall while Lene changed. "But..."
Ares crossed his arms, failing to cough up the "why" at the end of that sentence. And when it still refused to come out, he simply went straight to the heart. "...Were you truly so taken, dressing in my clothes?"
Lene folded his coat carefully, listening to every sound and every word that Ares had to say. It was a little silly to do this, and yes she shouldve probably not sat around and played dress up for so long.
But where is the fun in that? She knows more than anyone that there isnt anything wrong with having a little fun.
"I was...... just having some fun!" Lene states, handing over his coat which she had subconsciously folded up "I promised my intention wasnt to have you walking around like...... this" She motioned over at him, trying not to crack a smile and break her serious facade. "Thank you for bringing my clothes. Ill change out of your stuff, but the rest of it is in the basket.
This was the only thing she took out of the basket, everything else stayed untouched. "I hope no one was too mean to you" Lene added on, a small smile on her face.

“It's not that I know more than you, Lene... At least, I don't THINK so...” Leif replies trying to puzzle things together himself. As a cat comes up to nudge against his leg, his hand hesitantly reaches out to it, letting it sniff his fingers even as he continues to speak.
“But you're the one who was complaining that he was dense, right? So isn't your problem with him that he's not noticing something??”
After the cat doesn't rebuke him, his hand goes to pet it, letting its soft fur try to give him some sense of calm even as Lene's nerves, without his even realizing it, spread somewhat to him.
“Or is there something else you don't like about him??”
It does enough to let him ask rather than speak another sort of assumption first, slowing him down to think through that much at least.
"I.... was."
Lene mightve dug herself into a ditch. She awkwardly looked away, poking at a strand of cat fur that laid nearby as a distraction for herself mainly.
"Sorry Leif. I shouldn't be using you as a way to unload my problems." She laughed, that feeling of awkwardness washing over her like a waterfall. Maybe she could divert the conversation? Or would that make the hole deeper?
"Ares? No. I- Besides being that there isn't any... no. wait" Lene shakes her head "There is no issue! Its just a small silly problem that will surely resolve itself at some point!" She pets one of the nearby cats, which looked please with the attention it was receiving.

herald 26
“I heard you starting around when you noticed the cats having a... 'meowmance'??” Leif repeats after the Lene in his recent memory, not recognizing the potential embarrassment he might be serving in doing so— indeed, entirely too earnest and sincere in his blunt attempt to answer her question. For the boy who asks a million questions, it seems only a foregone conclusion to answer another person's when he has the power to, thinking it would be what he too would desire if their situations were flipped.
What he fails to consider is, if he were caught in this situation as a whole, he'd probably be far more awkward than Lene. In fact, he'd be sullen and flustered. By comparison, Lene seemed cool and charming. All to the point Leif doesn't even actually recognize her awkwardness.
So even as the dancer looks away from him, Leif keeps his gaze locked onto her. “You... don't want me to tell Ares?? Even though his not noticing you is what's got you upset?”
Now that she's confirmed his suspicion, the picture painted reaches greater clarity. Ares was the 'dense' one, getting the figurative Princess of Dahna's sands to fall for him.
The people in Seliph's army fawning over Lene's dances would have killed Ares for this. If Ares wouldn't just kill them all in retaliation with that superhuman strength of his.
“I can keep it a secret if you really want, but...”
"OH did you hear that?" Lene asked, her throat swelling up out of sheer embarrassment, having to cough into her arm just to clear her mind and push past that realization. That's not what's important right now. Instead she should be thinking on how to respond.
She doesnt know if Leif is exactly the right person for this, and she has already placed in herself in a position that she cant really escape from without digging herself deeper in the ditch.
"It's a little complicated-" Lene starts, she just thinks that despite everything her and Ares been through that she might be overthinking his true feelings. Or maybe shes overthinking her feelings about Ares feelings about her? Ugh- all this is hurting her head.
"but...? But what? Leif- do you know something that I dont?" She asked, almost immediately- Lene didn't even stop and think about what to say.

Curse her and her curiosity. All it was was a flight of fancy, following a procession of students across the grounds, and suddenly she is swept up in a long line of glum-looking "students "volunteers", too far under the watchful eyes of staff to slip away. The line shuffles forward into the central hall, and Silvia very quickly realizes this is not somewhere she wants to be. As she is ushered in, the sight of the empty ballroom leaves her floored. The grand dance floor and flickering lights; walls adorned with wilting flowers and deflated decorations; emptied serving-glasses and half-eaten plates — all of it spoke to a grand party, a magical night. And one she had missed.
Standing slack-jawed, she is too shocked by the husk of the grand venue to protest when a mop and bucket are unceremoniously shoved into her hands.
She is still cursing her bad luck when an idea strikes; why not foist this cleaning duty on some student who was there, and find an opportunity to duck out?
Silvia finds the closest student, a girl with green hair similar to her own, and extends the mop, trying out her best innocent smile.
"Heya! See, I wasn't here for the ball, and I just got here, so it would be unfair for me t'be cleanin' up the whole place if I wasn't takin' part, right?"
Still, as the other student turns, something about her feels uncannily familiar, and Silvia's eyes narrow. "Wait. Do I know ya from somewhere?"
Lene whistles as she swept up the trash on the floor, it makes it easier to clean the floor later on. Even though she really wishes she was doing anything else.
Well, no point in whining about it now. She's already in here doing the job. At least sweeping didn't take to long- Lene had learned a technique to make the job less of a hassle. In no time she had neat piles ready to be bagged up and throw out, the once messy floor could finally shine through again.
Admiring her work, she decides now is a better time to at least take a 5 minute break, before she felt someone next to her.
Lene turned to face the source of the voice and in that moment she felt as if all the air had escaped from her lungs. She doesn't know why- but something stopped her from being able to say anything. Lene had to look away and shake some sense back into herself.
why does she look.... almost like me
"Uhm-" Thats all she could muster- not even paying attention to the mop that had been extended to her "-I... Don't think so" The feeling of uneasiness didn't entirely go away "There's a lot of people here... maybe you're confusing me with someone else."
When Your BF Wants the Hoodie Back || Ares & Lene
Infamous || Laundry Day (No point)
Ares put no more thought into such a vague reply than what it took to pass Lene a quizzical little frown through the offered crack in her door. That he could hear only fragments of it at most played a fair part of that. When said so softly, and at the same time overshadowed by the boy's much louder mewlings quickly growing behind Ares' ear, little remained to judge her ushering as anything besides an opportunity to hear himself think again. What was left to think about, besides keeping the basket from catching on the door as he sidestepped inside?
Ares thought he knew the answer, felt the peace of it wash through his head as the door shut right on the nose of that boy's whines with a muffled cry of surprise. Then his sight adjusted to the dim dorm light, and knocked himself stupid with what it showed.
Too stupid to speak, too stupid to think of what he should say anyway, and too stupid to close his mouth before allowing a small and inarticulate little noise to slip out.
His arms were still fine enough, so he set Lene's clothes basket down instead, but his eyes were still stuck in place. Bending low only allowed him an easier time to look her up and down, and count up all the articles of ill-fitting clothing she had buried herself under.
"...Is," Ares started, finger slowly curling up and readying to fire at Lene as a point, "Is that--?"
"Is that my cloak," he was about to say, before stopping himself by bringing that curled finger beneath his lip. Probably the smartest thing he'd done today, along with not letting himself rephrase it into any of the other equally stupid variations that crossed his mind.
"Is that my cravat?"
"Are those my boots and gloves?"
The actual question he should've been asking was, "Is the Black Knight blind?"
Finally he found the strength to pull his eyes off her for a moment, and it was just to roll them at himself. Fingers crept up from his lower lip to pull and rub at the edges of them, concealing his frown while he breathed a fresh pause.
"...Is that," Ares began again, flipping his hand outwards to gesture at her and his clothes, "what you've been up to all this time?"
She stood there... Staring at Ares for a solid minute or so— watching him trying to process what he was seeing. Lene herself was thinking about every possible excuse she could give without sounding too creepy.
"Oh! Well... Yes I was just sitting around pretending to be you!"
No. That sounded too honest and too sad— she couldn't possibly say that.
"Actually I was going to go look for you but I forgot because of an assignment!"
Ok that was too far-fetched for a lie. Everyone knows that she always leaves her assignments for last minute all-nighters. Lene inevitably clears her throat, and when Ares finally asked his question, she placed her hands behind her back.
"Sorry Ares, I promise I was going to go look for you but... I got a little sidetracked! I hope you're not too upset" Lene decided on that excuse, giving him her best smile. "And well, since you're already here with my clothes too we should swap! And act like nothing happened." Lene added on, already taking off the rather long coat.

Mauvier & Lene - Mission Board: Herald - [Authority +1]
He hasn't stopped looking at the intricately-folded paper since it was placed in his hands by one of the higher knights.
Only the most virtuous are permitted? He may be a part of the Holy Knights of Seiros, but to Mauvier, this is just an occupational hazard. He certainly didn't have to prove his virtue to anyone to be handed an invitation to the Herald of Spring festival. The word doesn't fit into the tapestry of him.
Moreover...his name isn't on the invitation. One doesn't seem different from any other. Are they really vetting virtuousness at the proverbial door?
Something bothers him deeper than feeling unworthy of attending; does the herald of spring not belong to everyone? Even if they have tread crooked paths, made a wreckage of mistakes? How many will be deemed unfit just to watch the flowers bloom?
If anyone is watching him, staring, dumbfounded, he does not noticed. His eyes follow the flowing inkstrokes, all of the words blending. What can he possibly do?
@dancersnewme
Well thats NO FAIR!
"Virtuous" yeah right. Thats probably the worst party ever- gods forbid someone just wants to have some fun! Lene pouts slightly, walking away from the crowd.
She didn't need that anyways- Lene has better things to do.
As she left, Something caught her eyes- someone had gotten lucky enough to be invited! And Lene smiles at that for only a moment, before realizing the expression on his face. They seem conflicted? confused? Perhaps theyre just nervous.
Lene decides to make her way over, and with a smile she decides to make herself known "I see you got invited! Congrats!" Perhaps they need a gentle push- and she's here to give it. That way she can push past the rejection and any jealousy that may bubble its way to the surface.

BARE BONES.
hyoid / neck. who taught them to speak up, or stay silent ?
They were forced to stay silent most of their life, but for Lene, that was a death sentence. She knew if she stayed that way then things would become unsafe for her. So she very quickly learned how to keep herself safe while also speaking whats on her mind.
clavicle / collarbone. who/what do they lean on when they're vulnerable ?
For a long time, Lene hasnt had anyone but herself, so thats what she's used too. In recent years however, shes trusted herself to lean on friends more often. Although its still a foreign concept for Lene.
phalanges. what is their relationship with touch ?
Touch is a strict "with trust and permission only" Strangers are usually met with welcoming glances- but she won't say anything out loud. Just stern looks and maybe a harsh stare coming your way.
fibula. do they ever feel overlooked ? @dueth also asked this!
Not at all! In the past she was always the center of attention- and she doesnt mind it much. Nowadays- she doesnt mind if she isnt watched all the time, in fact, she rather prefers being left alone in favor of others.
{ carpals. what small habits do they have ? !!
BARE BONES.
One thing that Lene does is fidget with the ends of fabrics. Whether or not she realizes she's doing it. It started as something she would do when she was bored, or had to wait to perform to keep her mind occupied. Slowly it started to creep its way into other emotions and situations.
Nervous about an upcoming event? Twirls her finger around the ends of her ribbon.
Angry about something? Picks the threads off of an older piece of fabric until shes calm.
Excited? Thats right, she has her ribbon wrapped around her hand.
If someone ever had a hard time reading Lene, all they would do is look closer at the ribbons in her hands.

What a relief it was, that she was so dedicated to presenting herself as calm and unflappable in the face of the accusations. Lachesis would not have blamed her for a moment to lose her head and her patience, to have been more shaken, or more angry.
“Calm yourself.” A hand reached out and worked itself in between Lene’s, the wringing knot of her agitation, and cradled the girl’s hand in her grip, giving it a gentle squeeze. “They are ignorant from panic, but we cannot allow ourselves the same luxury, as to be so foolish. Whatever their imaginations pull to create a story that places you at its center, we must ignore entirely.”
Lene had been friendly enough to all within the household, just as Lachesis herself had been - their purpose was to smooth the friction of paranoia, and they both knew well enough what a kind smile could do to make that easier. It had worked for the first day, she supposed, but now they needed to reveal the mettle beneath.
“It hasn’t been too long. Ideal circumstances would have us find the culprit, to ensure your innocence without a doubt. I believe we can be so lucky, if we simply put in the work. Come, there is an entire manse to find our evidence.”
And she knew the best places to start: the scene itself, or with the viscount.
"Miss Lachesis..." maybe is that these fancier people have an easier time handling this- Despite her position she still cant seem to match the exact vibe expected of her.
Lene stared down at Lachesis' hand, a smile on her face as her heartbeat steadies itself. She has to believe that they can figure this out together.
"Youre right, Lets work to find the true criminal." Lene said, taking a glace down the hallway "Do you think they'll let me around? With all the paranoia what if they stop me... I don't want to hinder anything" Lene asks, her shoulders slumped at the thought, It was hard to keep her demeanor up.
She cant help but to overthink to herself, had she stayed behind this wouldnt have happened! but then again, Lachesis mightve found herself in this situation instead- and Lene couldn't live with herself if something happened.
"... Ill follow where you lead me too, Lachesis!"
WANTED PLOTS (JULY 2026)
Hello! Happy July! Heres my threads for this month. Just kept those that werent picked up as well as adding in some of the new ones.
You can reach out to me in dms on discord @ cure_idol, ping me in the #plotting channel OR DM me here on tumblr.
MISSION BOARD ( Faculty Needed )
The Tunnels - Though the situation is stressful, Lene will be calm and collected, I promise. I THINK we could roll for movement and like, get from point a to point b. Kinda like a mario party map where certain spaces would activate events! I would have to sit down and work on it, but i think it could be fun with a few people
The Lumenthus Flower - Though Lene has no experience riding horses or pegasus, I think it could be a fun!
Authority +1 - Lene would fall under the "She thinks shes not worth an invite" but She isn't bothered by that. At least on the surface.
NON MISSION BOARD
Compromising Video - This prompt is so good because like. I had Lene go around recording everyone for one big video! So she would want to make sure she didn't ACCIDENTALLY do something crazy.
Holding Hands - Lene would be the model student in this situation, I like the idea that Lene would try to set the "problem student" right but also who said they couldn't have a little fun while doing so!

Leif has no idea what he's watching, but by the time he'd noticed it was Lene at his back, she'd already been so deep in her little monologue that it felt awkward to interrupt it. He'd thought she was talking to someone (Ares, maybe?? They were always together back in the Holy War), but when he'd snuck glances to peek at her over his shoulder, just to make sure it really was her in the flesh and not some figment of his imagination, there was no other human figure with her.
Just her and... well, the cats.
“...would you feel less insane if you talked to me??” It's not until her sigh that he reveals himself, finally speaking up from his place behind her. He turns his body in his own cushioned seat, ready to face her properly so long as she was too.
“If you're talking about a male friend... is it Ares??”
Or did she have someone else? Her dances were always broadly popular in the Liberation Army but...
Well, a certain bodyguard always seemed to be warding off anyone else from getting too close.
....
Eh? Did someone talk to her?
Actually that voice sounded familiar. And that alone sent chills down her spine. Not because they were unwelcomed- but because of their closeness to the specific person she was talking about to the cat. Lene slowly turned to face Leif. A small, awkward smile formed on her face as she gave a small wave. "Oh... Did you hear all that?" She asked. The cats that she was once communicating too eventually made their leave, perhaps tired of the place they were lounging about to continue on their daily cat life.
"uh... Well-" She didn't know where to exactly start, Lene wouldn't mind speaking about her... conundrum. But on the other hand... Is this really a good idea. "It would. Actually, I might not look crazy" Lene laughs, pushing her past doubts.
"Yes... It is about Ares." She twirled the ends of her hair around her finger, looking away with a small smile "Although can this please stay between you and me?"
you wouldn't download a cannonball
aphotic | sea map
She's starting to think that they might've been sent into a situation where they were woefully under prepared and uninformed.
The ship abruptly rocks as a trio of cannon fire slams into them. Yunaka's lucky, and she's quick enough to grab onto the rail before she goes flying overboard, but a crew member nearby isn't so lucky. The sound of him shouting is cut off by a splash down below, but Yunaka barely gets a chance to look over the side before more shouting tears her attention elsewhere.
Damn, that's a lot of ships on the horizon.
With gritted teeth, she pushes herself back up to her feet. S'fine. S'fine. They're not finished yet. So long as you're still breathing, you can keep fighting. She glances over at the students, counts three heads still on board, and turns away with a nod. Still all fighting.
"We're taking on water!" Oh, great. Yunaka abandons the cannons to run over to the stairs below deck. It's not bad yet, but even from up here she can see water streaming in from below. They might not have as long as they'd like.
"Keep us from getting surrounded." She shouts over to the students. How they do so, she'll leave in their hands. Retreat or fight...their call.
Yunaka rushes down the stairs. Repair a ship, how the heck do you repair a ship? There's a plank of wood leaning up against some crates nearby. She grabs that, fumbles around in the crate until she finds a hammer and some nails, then rushes over to the nearest leak she can and starts trying her best to get the plank secured on top of it. As soon as she finishes, though, the wood groans and another trickle of water starts to pour in right beside it. She groans, turning to find another plank. "Come on!"
@dancersnewme
Oh! That was not good. Theyre 100% getting outnumbered by the second. Once the call was made that they were taking water, Lene's nerves had reached their breaking point.
But she was calm, so calm actually.
Lene thought about taking another shot at the approaching ships, but she was terrified at the idea that it could cause worse problems then if they just turned around now. It wasn't ideal- but she wasnt fond of dying in the ocean.
If she had a coin for every time she thought she would die in foreign oceans... she'd have two coins! Which isn't a lot but... its strange that it keeps happening! Maybe Lene should stay clear from ships.
"No... We should..." Lene's comment trailed off, as she quickly made her way towards the captain of the ship "I am SURE that you have realized by now-" fretted Lene, as she pointed toward the horizon "We'll ensure that the ship stays a float- just... please get us to safety" She didn't stay to hear the answer. Instead, swiftly making her way down towards where she had seen one of the others on the ship run towards.
"Im here-! Ill help!" Lene assured her, taking one of the planks near by, hammering the plank on top of the exposed area of the ship. She sighed, wondering how long they're going to be down here- and how soon they will be safe on land again.

She felt A LITTLE SILLY.
Lene had heard that people were coming to the newly established 'cat cafe' which, in itself was cute! All those kitties will have a nice warm bed and food served to them daily.
What she was surprised about however, was that many people seemed comfortable with airing out their issues... and feeling better about it. Perhaps having the idea that those little furballs are listening to you is enough to comfort a person, but Lene didn't feel confident enough to do that.
No, She had... other ideas.
Sitting on top of a cushioned seat on the floor, waiting for a fuzzy friend to approach her. She had to be chosen, at least... thats what she thought. A tabby cat made its way towards her, opting to sit in front of her, leaning its weight against her leg. "Oh- Well-" she didn't think she'd get this far, gently petting the cat.
"I shouldn't be here- this is... A bit ridiculous isn't it?" Lene asked, pulling herself away from the cat. It's head tilted, flicking an ear before turning its attention to another cat at the other side of the room. Strange, she swears that the cat she was just petting was the only one in this are, yet here comes the second one, rubbing against the sitting cat and eventually laying against it.
"Oh... I see, haha! Its a romance, a... catmance... meowmance? ugh- how can a cat be so confident...." She continued to watch, how the sitting cat seemed both unphased, yet accepting of it situation. How the laying cat seemed to meow louder and louder until it got what it wanted. "Mmm.... you remind me of someone, but to fall in love with someone isnt that easy you know? Like... you could be friends for a really really long time and he may be a little dense which makes you question some stuff at times but- its OBVIOUS that he doesnt mean it... right?"
She'd look down at the cats, before sighing "I think im going crazy... why would some cats know my own relationship struggles...!"
