[ I love Maya dearly, and she's a muse I'm very proud of, but I'm just not feeling her anymore. It has something to do with the fact that she's an OC, and since I play both canon characters and OCs in various fandoms across tumblr, I know that they're not treated very well. ]

[ I'd be sad if I deleted her, but nothing is happening here, and I'm not sure what the cause of it is. Maybe it's because I follow some of the wrong people, or maybe I'm not getting what I want from her, or maybe it's because she's simply a character that wasn't bound to last very long??? I don't know. It sucks. ]

     Katya took the sound of the front door opening as a sign that Maya had come back from an afternoon out with David. Leaning her head back, she called from her spot on the living room couch.

     ”Maya, can I talk to you for a minute?”

❝Hello to you, too, mom.❞ Maya set her things down as she walked over to greet her adoptive mother.

❝If Liam told you anything, he is just angry that I did not replicate the special Vulcan meal that I told him I would. I still intend to do so, by the way, I just have to find the right recipe.❞

      “Hey, Maya-” a small smile played on the lips of the blond. He knew that what he was going to do next was going to earn him a punch on the arm. Then again, he wouldn’t want it any other way.

      “want a sugar cube?”

❝I hate you more than I like you, right now, David Marcus.❞ She smacked the sugar cube out of his hands, sending it clattering to the floor. Most of the time, his jokes were at least stupid enough for her to laugh at, but this was one of the ones she really didn't like, and it all started after he had watched that old, old Terran movie and convinced himself that he and one of the actors were twins.

Her persistence was admirable, and for all that he’d provoked her with a dare, the kiss certainly didn’t suffer for it. He leaned into her, his hand instinctively raising to thread through her soft hair as their lips met. Though he found himself holding onto her perhaps a moment longer than he should have, he had a hard time mustering the will to let go.

Good kisses were in short supply these days. And if he’d said he hadn’t thought about what it would be like to kiss her in all the time he’d overseen her captivity, he would have been lying.

She automatically disliked him more (that was a lie) than she had when they had first met, for two reasons; the first being that she did enjoy the kiss, and the second being that he seemed to already know how to get her to do things without completely thinking them through. Dares were her weakness, because she'd simply jump at the opportunity to prove to people that she was a dominant type, and loved to be in control of situations.

❝You liked that far more than you should have.❞ She whispered with a smart, little smirk on her mouth when they separated. Maya only knew that because it was true on her account, also-- plus, he reeked of satisfaction. He was a handsome and strong man, a Captain (same rank as her, so that was a plus). Maya could have definitely kissed worse.

     Marla had somewhat grown used      to people stopping to look at her      artwork. She didn’t mind it, only slightly      annoyed when people saw her un-      finished works, but not annoyed      enough to stop leaving her sketch-      books laying behind when she held      a pause. So, Marla wasn’t at all      surprised to see a young dark-haired      girl looking at the drawing she had      left open while getting a water.

     ❝That’s Khan Noonien Singh, the      Augment emperor who ruled the entire      Asia in 1990’s. That sketch is from      a few years back, before he was      discovered, I’ve been merely fixing      it,❞ she explained, speaking softly      to not startle her.

❝Yes, I know.❞ Maya recognized the face. It wasn't one hundred percent accurate, but it was enough of a likeness for her to recognize it. She had known it in her early life, after all, but that information would never be revealed. Mostly, she was simply surprised that anyone would bother drawing him, much less this young woman.

❝Why do you draw him? He is not the most-- liked man to rule.❞ She lifted her hazel gaze as she asked, pulling her attention away from the piece of artwork. It disturbed her, but not obviously.
