A few days ago it was my wife's birthday, so I bought her some lovely rainbow flowers. The colours in this image are unedited, I just lowered the saturation slightly and applied some sharpening effects. - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93

Here's one from the spirit realm in Carlton Gardens. This huge piece was controlled by a team of puppeteers positioned near on the arms and neck . Everything from the head to the hands was controllable and it was amazing to watch something that was over 12 feet tall come to life. That was until the eyes started glowing. Then it became a thing of nightmares, straight out of Daft Punk's "Technologic". - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
And that's another White Night over for the year. I had mixed feelings about the new 3 day format and the move to Winter. The weather was nice for most of it, but I still prefer just doing one all nighter. This shot was from the forecourt of the Melbourne Museum, and was a short performance from Mad Max: Fury Road. I'm still going through the 500 or so photos I took on the night, so expect to see more! - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93

On the weekend I went out to the Mornington Peninsula for a drive.I haven't been out with my camera for a bit and decided it would be a decent enough day to do it. On my way back I drove through Safety Beach and stopped to get some shots of the beach boxes. Taking a stroll up the path, I saw this pier in the distance. I've got another shot or two to process then post. Hopefully I'll have them posted before the end of the century ;D - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
Today I spent the day down in Melbourne, just wandering around and taking photos. This shot was actually taken last year, but I'm mentioning today because I've got a few shots lined up for posting. - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
It's April, and I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of images I've shared. I've taken plenty, but not shared that many. Got some time off work coming up, so I'll be making my way down to Melbourne during that time to explore the city again. Look out for some more shots! (And as a side-plug, I'm working on version 2 of Auroras.live. Things are coming along quite nicely. Have a look here for more info: http://bit.ly/2G4auea) - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
Once again I spent Sunday walking through the city, wandering down random alleyways, looking out for hidden street art. While poking around a corner down near Bourke Street, I saw this little fella low to the ground. He was only a few centimeters high, so it was easy to miss if you weren't looking. - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
It's hard to believe that it's been a whole year since we were in New York seeing the sights. I really want to return and photograph the less tourist-y areas of the city, plus visit places we couldn't last time, such as Central Park. This shot was taken on our last full day in New York. We'd just visited Wall Street and Holly went back to Time Square to do some shopping. I walked across the bridge in the -1°C cold (a heat wave compared to the -20°C we endured while visiting family) and down into Brooklyn. - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
Look at me, posting more photos than one every five million years! What a time to be alive! This one is another Luminar piece, shot in Melbourne about a week ago. This time I experiemented with an image layer to bring the sky back in, and an adjustment layer to add a blueish tinge below the browns. - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
So last night I bought a new program, Luminar 3, to edit and manage photos. It offers a bunch of features Lightroom doesn't, such as AI-powered detail enhancers, layer support and such, but is lacking some features, such as watermarks, import from camera cards (it's available for Mac, and is coming in the next minor version update for Windows) and one or two other things. But so far I'm really liking it. This shot is the first one I properly edited with the software, and it's the Brooklyn Bridge from our trip at the start of this year. It may look lovely and warm, but it was almost zero degrees celsius and I ended up bolting for the nearest Starbucks to warm up once I'd finished my walk over the bridge. - See more at http://bit.ly/1bTOQ93
A nice bit of street art found in Hosier Lane, Melbourne. I would have spent more time there, but I had to catch the train home, so perhaps in the next few days I'll return and take some more shots. - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
I spent most of Saturday in Melbourne, wandering down random alleys and through tiny walkways, taking in the street art. There are some larger pieces that draw your attention, such as 5 foot high stencil representations of pop culture, but if you look really closely, you'll see small stickers placed in odd spots, or small illustrations scribbled onto the side of a drain pipe. If you want to get a sense of how deeply unpopular Donald Trump is around the world, just walk into a random alleyway in Melbourne and look for his mug stenciled onto the side of a dumpster with some dictator iconography peppered around him. This shot was a dead-end alley I came across a block or two over from Bourke Street. The light blocked from the taller building made for an interesting shot when viewed from down low. - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
In a few weeks, it'll be one year since our trip to the states. I kinda miss the place, and would love to see more states and visit more locations. Ah well, all in good time I suppose. I thought I'd already submitted this image, but I think it was a "done on my phone because I didn't have Lightroom" job. So here it is again, the lone tree in the in-laws' backyard. - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
Here's a shot from this year's White Night. Within the National Gallery of Victoria there was a room awash with bright colours, foam blocks stuck on walls and shapes everywhere. It really made for some interesting abstract shots! - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
The Top of the Rock was one of my favourite stops during our trip to New York. Great views on a not-too-cold night. As we were heading upstairs to get into the elevator, I looked down and saw this scene below me. - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
A quick edit of a shot I took while visiting the in-laws in Ohio. One morning I got up and decided to go for a drive around the local area. There are hundreds of these wind turbines all around, and I managed to find a strip of them that lined up rather nicely in the fog and snow. I had three or four people stop and ask me if I needed any help, thinking I was stuck on the side of the road, which was nice. I managed to snap a few good shots before diving back into the car and cranking the heat up, as it was about -10°C at that point. - See more at https://ift.tt/1bTOQ93
