WHO AM I? TWO FOUR SIX OH ONE! (MAO)

Most people might disagree with me, but I do believe I would most be like Mao. Mao was a patriot, wrongly judged by other people for fields that he failed; unbeknownst to those that hate Mao, he was a genius. Mao was a revolutionary, a patriot, not an economist. There was not once that Mao was ever said that he was a great economist, a great industrialist, a great farmer. Mao was a politician and he was born to lead, not to read. When Mao lead the Red Army in conquering China from the Nationalists, he was seen as a great politician, a great man perhaps. However, when he was forced to make decisions that he was not specialized in (aka economy, agriculture), he could only form it on other working examples, such as Lysenko's idea. This relates to me because I, like Mao, can only do what we specialize in, and cannot do other fields of studies that we are not comfortable in.

The Great Leap Forward...Except Mao Crushed 38 Million Peasants When He Landed

To what extent do you agree with the following statement: "Mao's weakness as an economic planner is the main reason why the Great Leap Forward failed."

I agree with the statement to the extent that it is completely true and without a doubt. Mao was a poor economic planner and did not agree with any one who opposed his idea. According to Michael Lynch, Mao "would not accept that his policies were at fault" and that he will "search for the culprits responsible for administering the policies wrongly". However, it is clear that it was Mao who implemented the "quadrupling of the economy", wanting it to "walk on two feet". According to the Dhahran British Grammar School, it quotes that "Major industrial development needed capital investment, technology and planning", however, Mao, as stubborn as he is, looks upon policies such as these to be "revisionist" and "counter-communist". All of these failures lead to "exaggerated figures" and ultimately the completely failure of the Great Leap Forward, resulting in more than 30 million innocent peasant lives lost.

Hundred Flowers Campaign: True or Trap?

The Hundred Flowers campaign was a trick designed by Mao to trap his opponents to the extent that it was meant to lure out the intellectuals and then crush them accordingly. According to Jung Chang and John Halliday, Mao "was setting a trap...inviting people to speak out", this will allow Mao to have an "excuse to victimize them". While unbeknownst to the intellectuals, they believed that Mao "genuinely did want intellectuals to think for themselves", and so they spoke out against the regime. Comments such as  "the socialism we have here is not democratic...", helped "justify" Mao's aggressive persecution of the intellectuals.
