It was a cool breeze that carried the quiet ship back to Pandaria. As boat landed on the shore of the familiar forest bristling in jade hues, Taz exhaled a light sigh. He lied. He lied to all of them. But he did it to protect them from the horrors he had faced in the shadowlands. The wicked spirit that attempted to trap and steal him into an unending torment had failed and the Darkspear escaped with his life.

He didn’t have the capacity to care about his choice, not really. But Taz’Ju knew that a hard choice had to be made in order to keep the others safe. He used his knowledge and mastery of voodoo to create the illusion he had gone missing once had actually returned to Zul’Bahati. Learn enough about mental manipulation through voodoo and he was able to make the entire Dominion believe he hadn’t been on the island for weeks. In reality, he was there the entire time stocking his items and moving things to a hidden boat on the eastern shore.

The Darkspear would hope that his secret would be safe for at least a number of months. He couldn’t risk the potential curse spreading. A quick glance at his hand was all he needed as a reminder. It’s normal blue hue had darkened into a sickly, dark purple and it had lost most of its mass. The only thing keeping it from spreading up his arm was an enchanted bracelet he had placed on himself. Its magics and voodoo would be temporary, but he hoped he’d find a cure by then.

As he boarded the ship behind the illusions he placed, Taz noticed a familiar face walking towards him. Rafeek had been staring directly in his direction and the witch doctor assumed he would have to use another bit of trickery to send him away. Luckily, the illusions he had placed were good enough that Rafeek simply wandered past. The Zandalari seemed to be taking a leisurely stroll along the coast. Even so, Taz thought he might want to give an explanation anyway, but decided against it. The boat quietly drifted off in silence as the sun began to rise from over the sea.

Nothing left behind except a single stone in Fon’Watha with a carving: “Imani imevun jika.”
