Tomlily for the ship thing

well kara answered that perfectly for both us right here <3 (and we’re currently maybe writing a little something together)
their parallells always fascinate me, even in canon, but i do not ship them in canon. like, tomlily to me isn’t always about shipping them, but more exploring their canonical similarites that we make out from the original source…… does that make sense…
however when i do ship them it’s because they’re both freaky asexual sociopaths desperate to leave a mark on the world. lily isn’t scared of death, but she has carefully crafted this perfectly intact exterior and plans to martyrize herself in any which way she can. she’s going to be remembered. top of the class, the good friend, the perfect employee, donates money, strategic ’selfless’ acts, climbing the ladder, making a name for herself, etc. manipulative and cruel underneath her kind smile and inviting eyes
tom is terrified of death and doesn’t plan on dying. he wants to leave his mark on the world while alive, and he never wants to die. he’s constantly running from it and leaving a bloody trail behind him. he’s powerful, deceitful, greedy, violent, climbing the ladders, also making a name for himself in the same way where he’s top of the class and a teachers pet and carefully creating his own carefully constructed exterior. they’re both wolves in sheeps clothing !!
and they sort of just team up. they always sort of recognize each other in some way. they’re able to make out the rot that lies underneath. that specific ’wrongness’ they’re both trying to hide. they both notice it immediately. cat and mouse game, getting closer, sharing goals, sociopathic murderous duo. tom becomes less afraid of death because when he dies it’ll be because lily kills him. lily becomes more afraid of death because her whole life has been so lonely / only planning for the mark she’ll leave after she’s gone. now she suddenly has a partner, someone who’s just as wrong as she is, and she becomes reluctant of letting that go. less accepting of there being an end
also they cannibalize each other :/ sex disgusts them deeply, but yeah they partake of each others flesh in other ways… 🤍
