[Finally home from class! c: I’m going to take just a moment to rest before I get to work on the replies I owe.]
[I’m in more of a drawing/painting zone tonight, so my replies will be drafted. <3 Depending on my workload, they’ll be finished either tomorrow or on Wednesday!]

Peridot looked up from her spot behind the human disposal containers. For one moment she had thought the Crystal Clods had found her again but no… it was a human. Of course.
She looked away, adjusting her visor and hoping the human would not have noticed her. She just needed a little time to recooperate…and get her emotions back under control.
Lion had taken her somewhere she’d never been before-- and this time, for some reason, without Steven at her side. She stared questioningly at the magical, pink feline; who had settled down, reclining his chin down on his paws. “Lion, what’s going o--” She cut her whispering short when she heard the clunky sound of footsteps echoing off the ground nearby. Cautiously peeking around the bend, she noticed the gem that’d been broadcasting that signal over her television a few weeks back. Peridot. The young girl looked back at Lion questioningly, nervousness swelling up in her chest.
What am I supposed to do? Sure, she had her practice sword with her. But how was she supposed to face off singlehandedly against a gem that nearly succeeded in capturing Steven and the other gems? The best she could do was observe what she was doing and then relay the details to Steven later on. So with bated breath she simply watched, hoping that she wouldn’t be noticed or confronted.

Awakening with a start, Connie gasped as she came the realization that she was using a pale violet arm as a pillow. Her head was throbbing as though she’d hit it really hard; had she been knocked out? The last thing she remembered was trying to help Steven fend off a corrupted gem that’d been trailing him around. Rubbing her forehead, she saw that she was high up in the air-- held in the arms of a giant woman.
She spotted Amethyst’s gem first-- and then as her gaze traveled upward, she also noticed Pearl’s. Did they fuse? Steven had told her of Opal once before-- therefore that was the most logical guess as to who this was. Thousands of questions began to spin around in her mind.
“Oh-- you’re Opal, right? What happened?” And then, in a panic-- “W-where’s Steven?”

Wringing her hands together nervously, Connie knew the worry she was feeling in those moments hardly compared to the way the recently surfaced gem must feel. She’d be an asset to their strength, no doubt-- (remembering quite vividly the way that the sea towered into the starry sky like a giant aquarium tank) an asset, that is, should the gem decide to fight alongside them. They’d never properly met; thus the small girl thought it best to introduce herself. In practice, however, the ordeal made her a little anxious.
“Hello? It’s... Lapis, right?”

“Wow. This book must be really important to you, considering you almost jumped off the cliff for it.” She brushed her palm gently across the cover to clean it off before handing it back to him. Being an avid reader herself, this particular title was one she’d never seen before. Curious. “Here you go.”

“Woah. So you’re really in college?” Connie’s eyes were wide and incredulous as she studied the other girl. They almost looked like they were the same age-- which made it that much harder for her to believe it. “That’s incredible.”

“Steven?” Her greeting turned into a question by the second syllable she verbalized. She’d heard his approach and spun to see him donned in a costume. Tilting her head slightly, a light giggle of amusement escaped her lips. He reminded her a little of a classic detective. “What are you doing?”

“Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that.” Realizing she’d entirely lost herself in her thoughts, Connie tipped her chin to look up at the boy who just approached her. He didn’t seem like a local-- especially due to his attire and manner of speaking. Timidly, she tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “What did you say you were looking for again?"
[I think I’ll have to work up the courage to follow a few more blogs before I can truly get started here-- but feel free to like this post for a starter!]
Trifling concerns reeled their way through her mind like old film as she perched herself down at the end of the dock. Her orange boots hovered just above the ocean, casting a contrasting reflection across the surface. Something had been bothering her. And as she attempted to play her own metaphorical therapist, peeling back her doubts layer by layer-- she managed to conclude that the truth of the matter was silly. Am I good enough? It was a thought that used to taunt her far more often in the past. Steven assured her constantly that he valued her friendship and she believed him. He was so unmistakably genuine, so kind. This time, it wasn’t his opinion that she worried about. It was his safety. Connie had worked so hard ( and was still working ) to master the art of swordsmanship to keep herself from becoming a burden. Watching the dark violet sky, dotted with stars, she was reminded of just how vast their universe was. What if, what if. So many different outcomes and possibilities flashed through her mind. Sternly refusing to let these doubts leak through, she pressed her lips tightly together and shook her head once. Steven and the gems... and even me. We can all keep the earth safe.
“Oh, gosh! Uh, I’m sorry. I didn’t see you there.”
