Track 2:
New Orleans Freestyle:
I just went in. I didn't think, I just went in. I did this right before the NolaHipHopAwards that are thrown every year in New Orleans. A lot of people argue and compete for "King of New Orleans" but me personally, I'm focused on bigger things. Besides, people don't stick together in New Orleans, that's why we have never had real gangs…. no respect for authority or heirarchy. So I started my flow off with "Ain't no King of New Orleans, Soulja Slim was the closest/ We don't like to stick together it's just part of the culture."
I wrote this one at my crib, and originally I recorded it to a different beat… Wait… But something didn't feel right. Then I hit up my homie Jaymison Beverly and told him I needed something I could just go in on, around 88 or 90 bpm… Literally 20 minutes later he sent me that beat that has now turned into the "New Orleans Freestyle."
THIS SONG GETS ME HYPE EVERYTIME I HEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We shot a video to this one too… S/O to my dude One Nine… Peep it out.....

The Making of Psalms of David 2 mixtape...
Psalms of David 2 intro
I was sitting at the company house I was renting at the time, by myself listening to beats. KLC (one of the best producers to ever come out of Louisiana, produced most of No Limit Records' classic hits) did the track and I was eager to impress him. To rap on a KLC beat is an honor I've never had the privilege of doing before. And then I started. I just had a lot on my mind…. My flaws and bad habits that I can't seem to shake… My pending record deal with RCA (at the time not knowing if this would actually happen or if it was just a bunch of talk)… Woman problems… Issues with the team I had around me at the time. Serious issues… Thinking about stuff i HATE thinking about, like comparing my success to other people's. That's not a good characteristic trait, and it always leaves me in a space where I undervalue myself because I'm not on this person or that person's level… Then I started writing… Once I got all my thoughts out, I wrote the singing part at the end and wondered who I could get to sing it. Hit my homegirl Alainia up and next thing I know, we were in the studio a few days later laying it down. She sounded perfect. And if you listen closely, you can hear a take of me singing that end part embedded deep down in there too. Then the intro was complete. Drove to KLC's studio a few days later with my homie Charley, played it for him, and waited…………….. Then he hit us with that "Mannnnnnnnn this MUTHA(bleep) is a fool!!!"
Then I knew the "Psalms of David 2" Intro was finished.

Anytime me and Mannie Fresh hook up it's something epic... This is no different... I would go into a big explanation about the song, especially based on the artwork, but I think the music and message will speak for itself... I'm curious as to your opinons about this song and subject matter though... U know u can find me on twitter or instagram @dee1music , facebook.com/dee1music , or 504-232-17** LOL I'm joking... Letter to my Fans + Signing with RCA
+
Letter to my fans:
My grandmaw called me one day and said that she had been praying for something big to happen for me and literally 5 minutes after we hung up, I was informed that RCA wanted to sign me. Now it's official. I just signed my first record deal ya diggg… Happy to join forces with the RCA family. Now the work really begins… I prayed for a breakthrough coming into 2013, because I felt like it was time to go to another level. I also prayed NOT to get that breakthrough if I wasn't mentally ready to handle it. Now we have a golden opportunity… I'd like to thank all of my die-hard fans who have been riding and supporting thru the years. It takes a real person to go hard for an artist even before the world has caught on to them. This is for yall. I am going to take yall on this journey with me, so expect a lot of updates, a lot of video content, and most of all, nothing but the best music I can create. Just know one thing: I need yall. This movement will not move without yall'z active support. So keep talking, keep tweeting, keep sharing the music, the message, the energy. Man!!! It's going down! New mixtape Psalms of David II dropping November 19th. Much luv. And S/O to New Orleans! When you see them 3's Up, you know what they represent… In case you didn't know, it's gametime. I'm going to the studio right now. "Psalms of David II" mixtape drops Nov 19th... #MissionVision

Letter to my old students - Mr Augustine got signed
Letter to my old students:
This is specifically for all the students I ever taught math, life skills, or study skills to at Baker Middle School. This is for any student I ever tutored, mentored, or held a conversation with in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or over the phone. This is for any kid who I ever coached in basketball. When I walked away from my job as a teacher it was a tough decision, but once I did it, I wanted to make sure I made it because I knew I could represent and symbolize something we rarely see where we come from. Well.....
Mr Augustine made it.
I just signed a major-label record deal with RCA.
Remember when I'd be in class with my mixtapes or talking about the show I had just done, or rapping to yall (sometimes lol)? Remember me spitting 16 bars to my 4th period class when yall didn't even believe I was a real rapper, and afterwards yall started screaming so loud that Ms. Moses came running in asking if someone was fighting? Remember me saying that I don't curse in my music but that I refused to change or compromise just to try to "get on?"
Well I'm on. And I still don't curse, lol.
My dream came true. Yours can too. But 1st you have to have a dream. Find something you love, something you can become great at, something you're willing to do for free, just because you love it so much. Something your mom can be proud of and say "Ooohhh yall look at my baby!! He/she is doing soooo well." Then do it. Focus on getting better and remaining positive. GRIND!!! No wait, my bad….. SHUT UP AND GRIND!!! #SUAG is the new SWAG. Yep, I love all yall. I want to see yall WIN! Let my success serve as MOTIVATION…
The funny part I'm learning about dreams is that by the time you achieve one, you've already started dreaming bigger dreams. So keep going. Don't stop. #MissionVision

I wrote this song and I LOVE IT. It's so relevant to right now. I can't be selfish with this gift I was given, so I do it for anyone with an ear. Some people don't and won't understand me... some people just hate to see the progress... but either way, "Only God Can Judge Me." Enjoy this one! Feel me...
My new mixtape "Psalms of David" drops next Wednesday, February 20th.

Never Clockin Out (video):
Only a few things are worth dying over in life. Only a few dreams are worth risking it all behind. Only a few. This song addresses that emotion. When you find the people and things that matter enough to you that you'll die behind it, you've tapped into your "Never Clockin Out" side. I've seen people who go hard behind their city, their hood (their ward), their Jordans, their family, their job, their friends, just about anything. This song is for those who go hard, who are "Never Clockin Out." It features my big homie from Atlanta, Killer Mike, the definition of a passionate grinder. My homie and friend Currensy also fell thru for a few cameos. We shot most of it in the 13th Ward in N.O, on Valence and Magnolia, the area where BG and Birdman grew up. For some people, staying alive is a full time job. Crazy but true. I respect that. But I also want everybody to know that it's not about where you're at, but where you're going.
Enjoy the new video. Pass it on. Don't be stingy.

Tour Blog #3:
My pops' birthday was this past Wednesday, 11-14. He is a great role model for me and an excellent father and husband. I used to not appreciate him as much as I should have, but I'm glad those days are over. I love my pops. This is a song I wrote a few years ago on my album "David and Goliath" called "Definition of a Man." It describes my dad pretty well in the 1st verse. Blue collar worker. Honest. Loyal. Real. I'm still on tour, but when I spoke to him a few days ago for his birthday, it reminded me how special he is. He just appreciates hearing from me and seeing me do well. That makes him proud. I'm blessed to have him as a father. So S/O to DAVID AUGUSTINE SR. The man.
In fact, S/O to any male that serves as a role model for a kid growing up, whether you're the father, big brotha, grandpaw, uncle, coach, mentor, or anything else. Your work is not in vain.

Tour Blog 2:
I Suag while I Surf:
(Vancouver, BC.)
My tour mates @Macklemore and @RyanLewis gave me a pep talk backstage. I was frustrated with my lack of crowd surfing success. A few failed attempts that even my dear grandmaw could have pulled off had me feeling real amateurish out there. It's all because I had a fear of being dropped. So they broke it down for me.
1. Kill the show. If the crowd loves you, they WON'T drop you.
2. Get a good running start.
3. Jump, turn while in the air, and throw your hands up……
4. Enjoy the ride…
I'm a fast learner. I did it that same night. I DID IT. I kept the mic in my hand and had the crowd yelling "Dee -- 1! Dee -- 1! Dee -- 1!"
Next night, I jumped in and had the crowd throwing me in the air as they held me up.
Next night, I surfed nearly the whole theatre left to right once I jumped in.
My fear. Of being dropped. And ending up on a youtube "crowd surfing gone wrong" video. Is Gone.
I now Swag while I surf.
Suag.

Why cats be fronting? (Tour Blog #1)
This story was too funny, had to write about it... I'm blessed. I'm on a 50 City Tour right now with my big homies Macklemore and Ryan Lewis... So on Day 1 as I'm flying to Portland for the 1st show, a dude who sees me on the plane recognizes me. No problem. But the whole flight he keeps coming back to my seat talking all loud about how he's out chea gettin big money and big tyming with the music. It was a lil embarrassing bc all the ppl sitting next 2 me were looking at us like we were crazy. I'm nice to everyone, but homie was doing the most. So then he gives me this receipt with his name, number, and email written on the back... Fair enough. Then I turn the receipt around and see that it's his account balance from Wells Fargo bank. Dude has $5.24 in the bank. C'mon son. C'mon.
The moral of the story is, don't lie about what you have, because when people find out you don't have it, you look even more ridiculous. It's simple. This made me laugh and is a perfect example...
