And another wonderful weekend comes to a close. As I sit here in bed, about to fall asleep, I realize how much work I could have gotten done but chose not to do. Why does that always happen? I’ve gotten into the habit of just casually disregarding my work until it’s absolutely necessary to address, or even worse, it just doesn’t get done. It kind of just slips through my fingers; I feel like the day wastes away, and I don’t have the desire to open a book or write an essay. Why is that so? I’m given the opportunity of a lifetime and I acknowledge that I’m wasting it by not getting enough sleep and spending the entire day tired and unproductive. How do I change that?
Aside from the negatives, I did have a fun weekend. I’ve picked up squash, which is surprisingly fun and very tiring. It feels good when I’m sore from a good workout like that; it’s probably the thing I miss the most since I stopped running.
Mon amour visited this weekend, which was lovely as always. We spent the majority of the time drinking whiskey, having sex, and watching Mad Men. Couldn’t really ask for more. Very, very happy. She told me that she’s forgiven me for everything that happened this past summer, which is really good to hear.
Mad Men kicked off its 6th season tonight. It was pretty mediocre. Very much 1968 in appearance, but the show lacked the energy that season 5 - and especially 4 - captured so well. It was also very disheartening to see Don fall back into his habit of cheating. As the episode comes to a close, Don remarks that his New Years resolution is to “Stop doing this”; this meaning cheating. Is it that easy to stop? To me, cheating is like an addiction. You really can’t stop unless you seriously address the problem; relapse can occur; and you don’t think it’s a problem until you get called out on it. It’s hard to explain. You feel sick when you do it, but it’s like you’re longing to fill a void within yourself. You feel dirty before, during, and after. But for some reason it’s so easy to just brush it off like there’s no problem. It’s an uncontrollable urge. The only way that I know how to deal with it is by cutting off most of my ties to females. It also doesn’t hurt that I’m socially awkward. Anyhow, I wonder what Mad Men will do to address Don’s addiction to love; hopefully it will help solve some unanswered questions within myself.
soooooo excited.
