Spurs forward begins to move forward

Kawhi Leonard is known to be the rising star of the San Antonio Spurs. As the years progress so does Kawhi and his performance, game. Leonard won his first NBA championship in 2014, also winning finals M.V.P. Not to mention he won defensive player of the year in the 2014-2015 season, Kawhi has progressed a ton lately and it’s only getting better. His role in the Spurs also continues to grow. As the small-forward of the Spurs, a lot is expected from Leonard. Gregg Popovich, the Spurs head coach stated, ”Leonard has the ability to do what Jordan did.” Popovich has been coaching the Spurs since 1996, so you know he knows what he’s talking about. Leonard’s highlights are perfect examples. They’ve made their way into social media many times. His jaw dropping posterizes just bring excitement across the NBA and its fans. When the time comes for Kawhi Leonard to take over the Spurs, he’ll be ready and all aspects of the game.

“It isn’t real”

        Australian Instagram star Essena O’Neil,19, quits “unhealthy”  social media. With more than 500,000 followers on Instagram, Essena makes a 17 minute long video on how social media has taken over her life. She deleted more than 2,000 photos on Instagram that she said "served no real purpose other than self-promotion".  "I don't want to support social sharing sites that makes billions off advertisements I don't agree with," she said. Being admired by half a million followers she was addicted to the amounts of likes  she would get on every picture she post."I've also spent hours watching perfect girls online, wishing I was them. When I became 'one of them', I still wasn't happy, content or at peace with myself." At only  12 Essena would compare her appearance with the models in magazines and social media platforms.

             This is one of the many pictures that Essena O’Neil re-caption  to show how she was forced to look a certain way and felt as if  she was pressured to perceive a perfect image of a girl who “had it all”.  She admitted to deceiving followers by using makeup, push up bras, and she tried to make herself look older. Many of her photos were taken when she was 15 and 16.

      She said she was re-editing captions on the remaining photos hosted on her Instagram account to reveal "manipulation, mundanity and insecurity".

       “Literally took photos against a white wall for no other reason but to post on Instagram a hot picture. When you see images online, look at the intention behind a photo. Social media and appearance addiction has taken over our youth. I would never have worn these heels or dress out of the house. I was 15.”

          After Essena deleted her instagram she created a website and stated “I can’t tell you how free I feel without social media. Never again will I let a number define me. IT SUFFOCATED ME. Not because I had 500,000 followers, I felt the same as a young girl, I would just spend hours looking at everyone else’s perfect lives and I strived to make mine look just as good… Guess I succeeded. It’s totally stupid. Everyone’s doing it.”

Mockingjay part. 2 Comes        Flying In!

       With the release of the second, and final, part of Hunger Games Trilogy, people are excited. The first part left fans at the start of the best part, creating a never ending suspense (at least for me), that is finally here. The second part will show Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and company. As they take their plan to assassinate President Snow (Donald Sutherland). But the movie has become more...serious.

          In the first part we were able to see what President Snow has done to all the Districts and specially the eradication of District 12 and supposedly District 13. But the second part will give us a good look on how it happened, the deaths, the war and what the characters are going through. Most fans, those who didn't read the books, will be left devastated by the various death throughout the movie. But it's just not that, the directors have plans beforehand for those events, and for the tension. The second part has become much darker and gloomier than the first one that it may scare us. The war is nearing The Capitol and so things will get hectic. And let's not forget about Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), who, after he was saved in part 1, has tried to kill Katniss. Now I don't like to leave you with even more tension as to what will happen to Peeta but he gets over it...well mostly. He just doesn't try to kill her that much. This is also another thing to keep in mind during the movie, is that all these characters are going through some physical but mostly mental issues. Issues that will affect their characterization.

       Anyway, what you may expect is more fighting, more violence, and more gore (hopefully) in this movie. But this are my predictions, from someone who has read the books.

Teen Tech Takeover

Do you think technology is taking over this generation’s teens? Older generations believe teens no longer enjoy and live life. They live an online virtual world instead of the real one. Today, teens  and their technology are inseparable, I know I am with mine. They use it for connecting with friends, homework help, letting parents know where they are, relaxation, entertainment, social medias and obtaining information. Technology is so advanced now that everything is in such a small gadget.  I believe my generation happens to be the first to actually grow up with this kind of technology. Perhaps we are abusing our privileges, or we are just preparing our world for its future. I am not saying too get rid of all things old fashioned and bring in the shiny new things, but to let the future come easily. Someday the teens now will be the creators of something better than the basic computer. But, they never could have thought of it if they never experienced long hours in front of their laptops.

Mad Max Comeback?

So the comic book and movie series is planning to release a comeback to add on to the series, and this comeback may actually be a good one with Mad Max: Fury Road. In Mad Max: Fury Road, a woman goes against the ruler of a post apocalyptic Australia and in the process of this she makes a team with a group of girls she broke out of jail, a psycho and a loner named Max. So far it is critically acclaimed to be the best action movie ever made.
