Recap Time!
It has been SOOOOOOOOOOO long so it's time to catch you all up!
On March 15th, Keyan Carlile released "Transformers: Combaticons". Both myself and Sterlz provided the post audio for the fan animation (which was a blast to work on btw)!
A month later, "DYNAMO DREAM, Episode 3" released and I'm excited to share I got to work with the audio team to sound design a bit for it
After that, I finally put together a robot sound design reel
More recently, I returned from the Tribeca Film Festival where I got to attend the premiere of a film I worked on through Another Country/Cutters, "Fresh Kills". It was amazing to watch the crowd's reactions and see my work/name on the big screen! Hope it's an experience I get to have again soon
Finally, Keyan released a Gravity Falls fan episode, "Return to the Bunker", that I provided dialogue editing, sound design (in form of a hawktopus) and mixing for. Another one that was a ton of fun!
Cheers and hopefully I'll have more cool things to share again soon!
a glimpse in the window
Some thoughts on dialogue
So, most of the time, I'm working on live-action films/docs/shorts. This means, I try to be pretty hands off with dialogue so it feels as natural as possible
This project is animated AND has characters with vocal fx! I love sound designing animated pieces but I've never needed to add vocal futz to anything before
The top track is my dry (no fx) track, the small track was my first attempt and the last track is what I'm currently digging. This is a huge departure in my usual process; clean dialogue, compress a bit, even out volume and automate to sends as needed (for reverbs, delays, etc). Typically, it's a one track affair. It has been super fun to work each piece out but my brain is groaning trying to sculpt these kinds of fx for the first time
Only like 7 more characters to go! 💀
P.S. I hope my client wants to do a BTS that includes post audio! It would be fun as hell to share my whole ass process 🦾
P.S.S. Shout out to Saili for sending me great vocal fx refs/letting me borrow their ears
You ever clean your phone downloads out, see something and just go, "mmmyup"
I don't play Overwatch anymore and haven't since at least 2018. BUT I do occasionally get a a homesick pang when playing FPS from my days maining as Zenyatta (my spiritual robot husband)
This morning my friend, Saili, sent me the intro for the character Ramattra. Now I'm homesick and want to play evil boy Zenyatta 💔
Last night’s stream. I tried to get it finished before sleep so the coloring is a little rushed, but glad to finally get a new Halloweeny art done.
Mandalore Gaming's Halloween vids are an event I look forward to every year!
Any game they talk about gets me interested in sound designing it. Even genres I don't typically pay much attention to! Most of all, they make me want to work on point-and-click adventure titles
Two extremes
Working on an animated cartoon short and an emotionally charged feature length film at the same time has been the strangest whiplash I've gotten since starting my career as an audio engineer
Was toying with the idea of starting a Mastodon server for 5 seconds
Had to update our NAS yesterday. Found one of our mirrored drives died and the other was extremely degraded. Def lucked out that we didn't lose anything (we keep our sound library on it)!
We had a chat and decided to expand the NAS so we can start storing our archived projects. Currently, it's only 2TB so with the addition of x2 4TB drives, we'll have a total of 6TB to work with. Since we've been getting a lot of jobs this year, it's def a def needed upgrade
I built this old man in 2009 and he's still chuggin' along! The only thing that'll make the next expansion tricky is the lack of sata slots available
Been a bit since my last post but I return with exciting news:
Crazy to have been nominated for Best Sound Design at the Midwest Film Festival! The show takes place on Nov 3rd so fingers crossed
My bestie/biz partner as well as my dad will be going with me so it'll be a lot of fun regardless!

Our own @deltahaas had the pleasure of doing a music edit to accompany this awesome display of Armored Core parts!
Mason is rad as hell and you should follow him on Twitter!
