A Brief Guide to Neopian Stocks

Hello everybody, so quite frequently I see users on the neopets tag that are confused about the stock market. I am a huge advocate of the stock market because it is super easy and super lucrative! So if you think you might be interested in making neopoints this way but aren't sure quite how it works, I hope this simple guide can help you get started. A more extensive guide can be found here.

1. Have some neopoints to start with. You'll need to have neopoints on hand to get your portfolio started until it begins to pay for itself. Expect to pay 15,000 neopoints per day until your portfolio is self sustaining.

2. Buy 1,000 shares every day of stocks that cost 15NP. You won't be able to buy shares that cost less than 15NP. Stocks update at :28 and :58 NST, so if you don't see any stocks that are 15NP/share, check back after an update.

3. Diversify your portfolio. The more variety you have in your portfolio, the more likely you'll have a stock that is valued at enough neopoints to be worth selling.

4. Be patient. The stock market will get you rich, but it won't get you rich over night. It can take months to build a portfolio that's yielding great profit, but if you're patient you'll see the steady growth of your fortune. Also, don't freak out if your shares go into the negative. This is okay. You haven't lost any neopoints unless you SELL shares that have lost value. Eventually they'll go back up and you can sell them for a profit.

5. Sell at 30NP/share. If you sell at 30NP/share, you've doubled your initial investment. This is how you get a portfolio that sustains itself--just reinvest the 15,000 in a new set of shares, and pocket the rest!

Hopefully this helps some people to feel comfortable getting started. It's a slow process but SO worth it once you build up a strong portfolio.
