“Right.” Bo chuckled, only now thinking of how long it had been since she had actually spoken to her mom. “Oh I think you know what I want.” she nodded, gently biting her bottom lip.
“I honestly think I don’t,” he said honestly and naively. He took notice of the way she bit her lip. “Oh - you don’t mean -” he chuckled, running his hand through his hair a bit awkwardly.

“Yeah! Let’s make some cute little gingerbread people. What do we do first? And most importantly, do you have one of those big chef hats I can wear?”
“Haha, here you go -” he said, going to get a chef hat and placing it in her head. “There you go, now you’re a professional. Careful - it’s a big responsibility.,” he wanted playfully. “Alright, let’s start mixing the dough. Wanna crack the eggs in a small bowl?”

“She sounds great.” Bo nodded with a smile. “My mother tries so hard to come across as upper class it’s annoying.” she frowned before a smirk rose on her lips. “My dear, I can think of a much better way to say thank you.”
“She is,” he smiled. “Mothers - what can you do right?” he chuckled. Derek much preferred just dealing with his mother, at least she was still alive. He quirked his eyebrow at her smirk, tentatively matching it. “Really? And what might that be?”

“Only ‘til Christmas? That’s just not gonna be enough time.” Rory joked, feigning a heavy sigh and a look of disappointment. “I’ll just have to work you to the bone until then.” She teased. “I don’t know, I like every kind of cookie, so we can make whatever you feel like. I’m not picky.”
“I’m ready for it,” he laughed. “Well if you want to decorate them, we can start with some shortbread? Maybe some gingerbread too? That means we can use cookie cutters.”

“Almost anyone? Who has more class than me? I want to know so I can take them down.” Bo cocked a brow. “Damn, well I can offer you free tickets to the movies plus I’m like super hot, is that better?”
“Ya haven’t met my mom,” he offered with a serious grin before laughing. “I’m kidding, my mom’s vulgar and rude, but a real southern belle - considering,” he chuckled with a shrug, a warmness coming to his heart as he thought about her. He shook the thought of her away, not wanting to dwell on it. “I definitely like that offer. I can offer dinner, as a thank you?”

“Hey I can’t help it if Chinese chicken salads are delicious and everyone else around her has less class than me.” she argued with a pout. “Damn I’m being beat by sixty three year olds who can also get you discounts at the movies, I’m not sure anyone can compete with that. Guess I’ll have to up my game.”
“That’s true, you definitely have more class than almost anyone I’ve met,” he admitted with a small chuckle. “You know I want to be nice and tell you that’s not true, but it is. Those gals... they may have my heart forever if you don’t find your way up the ladder.”

“Looks like we make a perfect team then.” Rory announced with a bright, beaming smile, as she followed Derek back into the kitchen.·“I feel like the obvious answer is all the cookies, how much time have you got?”
“Seems we do,” Derek agreed, matching her smile. “You got me to Christmas,” he said, partially kidding. At the very least, he had all night. “What kind of cookies are we making? Gingerbread? Chocolate chip? Oatmeal? Peanut butter? We have the whole kitchen at our disposal.”

“Don’t I know it, I’m practically wasting away. Seriously though Is this an actual offering to make me food because I’m dying for a Chinese chicken salad right now if I’m being honest.” Bo asked with a grin, “None as cute as me I bet. What kind of discounts do they offer?”
“You’re craving a Chinese chicken salad? That may be the most pretentious sentence I’ve ever heard -” he laughed, teasing her in good fun. “But of course I’ll oblige,” he smiled. “Senior discounts. A real life saver at the movies. I dunno Bo, you’re cute, but 63 just works on some people, you know?”

“I can be, yeah. But we’ll have to change it to Spatula Girl.” She stated with a nod, laughing underneath her breath. “Alright, just show me what to do. And you have to let me decorate them at the end, deal?”
“Alright, Spatula Girl, you have yourself a deal. I have the worst hands for icing anyway,” he flashed her a wink before leading her into the back kitchen. “Alright, let’s get some big bowls and ingredients. How many cookies we making?”

“You did! You’re like a superhero, but with food. Like Super Chef Man, and his handy sidekick Spatula Boy.” Rory announced, trying to pull off a deep narrative voice through her laughter. “Oh god, I’m gonna shut up. But yeah! Umm, can you make gingerbread cookies?”
“I’m assuming you’re Spatula Boy?” he questioned before laughing at her ridiculous voice. “Gingerbread cookies, eh? I think I can manage that. Unfortunately I don’t have my sue chef, so I could really use a helper back here...”

“I’m sorry you were gone? Didn’t even notice.” Bo smirked. “I’m just playin’ I totally missed you. where have you been my love? Did you have fun? Meet any cute people?”
“You can’t play games like that with me, Bo, Not when I can clearly you see you haven’t been eating since it hasn’t been my food. What can I get you, you poor, probably starving, girl?” Derek teased, smiling when she admitted she’d missed him. “Went back home, tons of cute ladies hanging with my mom. They can get me discounts you know, it almost doesn’t seem fair.”

“Obviously. I think everyone around here missed you, another day and I’m sure a hangry riot would have formed.”
“Well I’m glad I’ve saved the resort with my return, yet again. Haha, really you’re sweet to say that though. Thank you. Can I make you anything, on the house?”
“I’m back. I’m sure you missed me. The resort and all it’s starving patrons are welcome.”

Not gonna lie to you here, it’s just all the time. I can’t switch it off and here I thought everyone knew that about me. It’s one of my favourite things to do well apart from like the sex part that normally comes after.
Well I haven’t had the pleasure of knowing you, I’m glad I do now though. You’re quite a dynamic character. I’m Derek, if you wanted to know. Mind if I buy you a drink?
