“Jesus, you leave for ten years in hopes that the town and people would get better and you come back to this.” Noah said and shook his head “Has anything about this place gotten better?”

     "It’s a fact of life,” he drawls. “People never get better or worse. They just show their true colors from time to time.” He turns to the younger male and lets out a bitter chuckle. “Not unless you count them renovating the Burger King on Hylan Boulevard. But how’s your family doing? Everyone okay?”

A. DE SANTIAGO.

     it wasn’t unusual for him to picking along the shelves of alcohol, even when his so-called stocks at home were far from emptied. just walking into the convenience store had meant he’d be drawn to the back aisles, and not even the squeaking puppy concealed in his shirt could stop him rifling through what was available. after all, what was the harm in a few drinks? sure, he’d come by to stock up on some food, but he could wait a while longer for that…

    what was unusual was that he didn’t notice the cop stranger until he was practically laughing in his face. looking over from his ever so important browsing, he let a laugh of his own escape him. “it does that sometimes,” he said, and if as on cue another slightly muffled yip sounded from his shirt. after muttering something soft to the agitated dog, he let it wriggle up and poke its head out over his shirt collar. “what are you doing, cachorrinho?” he chided it, shaking his head; “you’re supposed to be secret.” sighing, he turned back to the stranger. “she’s too young to be left alone,” he said, as though it explained the situation.

     Bradley wants to believe that the lumps in the man’s shirt are nothing more than little, poking puppy paws, but he’s been doing this job for far too long to simply let him off the hook without a second glance. It’s the least he can do, to try to save this desolate town; these days everyone is a suspect of a crime. 

     He hangs around for a minute, turning his body towards the coffee pot while keeping his eyes on the hoodlum’s wandering hands. The guy in front of him seems comfortable enough, but that could just be the subtle scent of pot wafting into his nostrils. Still, Bradley can’t get a good look at his eyes, so it’s hard to tell if the guy’s just overcompensating for his suspicion. Hell, the dog could even be a distraction--maybe she’s not the only thing hiding in there. He turns his attention to the possible, barking prop. 

     “She’s cute.” He gives the man’s bumpy sweatshirt another focused glance, before shooting the puppy and her owner a small, strategic smile. “Mind if I pet her? It’s been awhile since I had a dog.” 

                                         ( He’s never had a dog. )

C. WHITAKER.

Christian shrugged “Worth a shot.” he said before taking another drag and smiling over at the male. “Of course you can have my lighter.” He said and pulled it out and lit it, moving it over towards the male for him to be able to light up. “Well with how many damn cops that have been questioning me about the body in my house, I think it will be just fine.” He said. “And if you’re wondering…yes. I’ll help you link it to that damn stalker but I don’t want to talk about it for long. It’s what I’m out here trying to calm down about.” Christian said. “Speaking of, how is the search for the fucker going?”

     There are way too many murderers and rapists in the world to be worrying about a little weed—that’s Kyle’s take on it, anyway. Thankfully, the precinct is too busy with the rest of shitshow that is currently Easthaven to really have time to disagree.       “Thanks.” He puts the cigarette between his lips and leans the tip into the flame. For a brief, flickering moment, he’s sixteen again, smoking something forbidden in Aunt Rose’s backyard. Even if it’s not the same substance, the muscle memory and the nearby wafting scent are enough to leave him with a strange sense of nostalgia.       “Well, I wasn’t going to say anything, but if you insist.” The corners of his mouth twitch upward at Christian’s comment, before his lips drag back down into a discouraged scowl. “I’ll take whatever you can give me. The search is going like crap. Sometimes I think the Captain keeps information from me just so he can watch me squirm. Not to mention the guy’s motive makes no fucking sense. For all the stupid games he plays, this asshole does not want to be found.”

    “Hey. I’m Detective Bradley, E.H.P.D. Homocide Division. Thanks for coming down.”

     Bradley extends a hand to the boy in the blanket for a friendly ( but firm ) handshake, before he sits down. His goal is to put him at ease—that’s why they’re in the soft interview room, decorated with blue armchairs and colorful pillows, rather than handcuffs and flickering fluorescent lights. The safer eyewitnesses feel, the more they’ll talk.

     “I just have a couple of questions to ask you, and then you can be on your way.” Not that the kid looks like he has any place to be--most people found wandering around in the South Side don’t--but that’s not what Bradley is here for right now. “You want a cup of coffee or anything, before we get started?”

For most guys, it is common to find a bulge in their pants,                                                                                                  but not in their chest.

Hazel eyes quickly scan the bodega, body tensing up as he goes into POLICE MODE. The guy at the end of the aisle appears to be stealing, stuff haphazardly stuck up the front of his sweatshirt.

Clearly education isn’t the best down here, because the hoodlum sure does suck at being discreet. Granted, it will make the arrest that much easier but...

The cop’s about to make a move when he hears it: a familiar, high-pitched Y I P. 

A laugh almost bubbles out of him. This job will surely send his heart into shock one day.

When he looks up at the not-criminal, one eyebrow is quirked in amusement, his lips twitching at the corners.

          "Your sweatshirt appears to be ... barking.”

C. WHITAKER.

Christian sat on the bench in the park, just thinking to himself and smoking a blunt. With everything going on he definitely needed it, even though he had been trying to stay away from even the simplest of addictive substances. Regardless, he needed to calm his anxieties and there was no way anything else would do it as well as weed would. He was caught up in his own head enough to not notice the person to sit down next to him until he caught a glance and almost jumped “fuck” he chuckled “sorry, stuck in my own head and didn’t notice you there.” he chewed his lip, feeling a bit awkward now before extending his hand “you want a hit?”

    Oh, how he’s missed the sweet, dank smell of weed.      It's been years since Kyle has smoked with Christian, but as much fun as it was before, the force wouldn’t exactly congratulate him if he failed a drug test.     “Don’t tempt me,” he says, a light chuckle escaping him. “I was hoping to go a little longer before I got fired.” A small shake of his head. Oh, how his life has changed. “Didn’t mean to scare you. But if you’re offering, I’ll borrow your lighter. For old times’ sake.”     He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pack of Reds. “Think I can say I went undercover if I’m sitting here? It’s been awhile.”

SAM HERE, WITH ANOTHER EXCITING--

--Ahem. Hi, friends! Thanks for having me on board! I’m very excited to be here and write with you all (some of you for the very first time!) Before I reply to starters and get this thing going, I wanted to give a quick intro on my new character, Kyle. I’ve never used him before, and he’s still very much in development, so please forgive me if I’m not always on my game :’)

I’ll elaborate more on his bio in his (still a WIP) background check, but for now, here’s the low-down:

   ⇥ Lives in the North         ⇥ Middle-class   ⇥ White fuckboy at his prime   ⇥ Spends his free time drinking with buds/co-workers and picking up girls   ⇥ Not really into the whole “commitment” thing   ⇥ Really into the whole one-night-stand thing   ⇥ The type of guy who has a cocky air about him and is really confident in his abilities (to the point where it’s probably irritating) but is also surprisingly good at his job, so you’re like.. wow, I fucking hate him   ⇥ Speaking of job, he’s been a police officer in East Haven for about five years now         ⇥ Being that the town is divided and not all that big, the police department here doesn’t always do things by the book, and they don’t usually get caught.         ⇥ (I also might ... sometimes godmod the entire police department if das cool)   ⇥ Applied for a promotion to become a police detective   ⇥ His older, jaded boss looked at this bushy-tailed, bright-eyed Milennial and said, “Alright, tell you what, son. If you can solve this supposed ‘Town Stalker’ case, I’ll promote you to detective.”   ⇥ Was appointed Lead Detective on this “case” and really wants to prove himself. His reputation is riding on this case and he will solve it.

I’m really excited to watch him descend from healthy twenty-something who’s motivated to do a good job and prove himself ... to this case taking over his life and not being able to sleep at night and just watching this Concerned Citizen consume him day by day :^)

Let me know if you have any questions! I plan on expanding his backstory as we go, but I’ll do my very best to answer them!

Also, LIKE this if you want me to message you to plot or work out connections (but we’re all friends here. We don’t need a reason to talk <3).
