The Three Drops
The Troupe Dewdrop, raised within the Nightmare Realm, spawns into the world as a loyal dancer to the Grimm Troupe. All she has ever known is the hot glow of the red flame. Each time the Troupe is spawned into the waking realm, she has to be hatched from a cocoon made to protect her through the transition. Her role is to entertain any guests, keep them happy and distracted as Grimm seeks a proper parent bug to his child. When she is not dancing or singing, she is resting with Devine, keeping watch over her dear sister. Once Grimm is defeated in the waking realm and left to his rest, Dewdrop will rest at his side. If left for long enough, they will return home to the nightmare realm, where the process is began anew. Dewdrop returns with the Troupe, as loyal as the day she hatched.
The Abandoned When Grimm is fully defeated in the waking and dream realm, The Troupe's purpose will have been fulfilled. Grimm disappears, the tents vanish and Devine returns to her home. Dewdrop, not having a way to return to the nightmare realm and loosing her family, is set ablaze with heart break. In battle, her shell becomes hardened and her nail breaks in two. The flames brought by her rage burned her wings, rendering her incapable of flying freely. Left in the ashes, Dewdrop finds strength in new love with her partner Harriet. Together, they adventure now hand in hand through out the lands of Hollow Nest. Though stronger and harder on the outside, Dewdrop still makes an effort to be kind, despite the nightmares that follow and the pain in her shell.
The Enlightened When Grimm is defeated in the waking realm, but not the dream realm, Dewdrop will join Grimm in rest. While at rest, Brumm offers a solution to banish the Troupe so that the ritual is not repeated again. Once banished, the Troupe is returned to the nightmare realm forcible, sans Dewdrop. Being a bug hatched in the waking realm, who was adopted by the Troupe, she caries no blood of the nightmares. All evidence that the Troupe had influenced her is stripped, leaving a small, soft, and confused butterfly behind. Taking on a pink hue, and softer eyes, Dewdrop is born a new, purged of the nightmare flame that plagued her her whole life. Though, this purge comes with the downside of altered memories and a new sense of confusion and wonder. She no longer remembers clearly her time in the Troupe, her memories fogged by the red flames of the nightmares. Now without a family, a memory, and a purpose, Dewdrop sets out to find herself. She seeks a light to follow, needing something- anything to point her cleansed eyes to.
Hello my darlings, after a long time of thinking and sketching, I have found a solid story for each time line. So far we have followed The Abandoned's story, but with the release of Silksong, I feel like it helped me close up holes I was struggling to fill. I will try to be more pressent, but I haven't finished Silksong yet (golly it's tough), so no spoilers please! Expect more art of Enlightened Dewdrop though :) -Mod
