vigilante's fall & halloween shenanigans
a/n: whoooaah my first headcanons, very short and sweet but i just wanted to try 'em out... let me know if these are fitting for his character! i'd like to write more (and put out actual fics, not just hcs) but it's a bit of a gamble with the classes i'm taking this semester, i'm not sure i'll have the time :p
he would make a beeline for the giant pumpkins at the pumpkin patch-- those massive blobs of gourd that look as if they're melting into the ground? they are absolutely inconvenient and look more grotesque than cozy or classic like a standard jack-o-lantern pumpkin (but it's fitting!)
a struggle ensues as he grapples with it, haphazardly rolling the pumpkin toward the car. hoisting it into the back seat of the sebring is an entirely separate issue. that thing's rear bumper is nearly dragging along the road on the ride home, because who in their right mind picks a 90+ lb pumpkin to carve
he's torn when choosing what to carve into the pumpkin... either his vigilante emblem/"v", or maybe even peacemaker's symbol to show support for his best friend, or one of those cat faces that use the cut-out scraps as its ears
he's not squeamish at all, and insists on helping by cleaning out your pumpkin for you, though he might flick some of the goop at you for shits and giggles
adrian chase is a sucker for horror movies, even if the scare factor usually falls flat for him. he prefers the classic slashers like halloween and scream over more paranormal movies like the conjuring or insidious, but is also quite fond of those really gory ones like saw, the texas chainsaw massacre, etc.
he'd insist on dressing up as some freakish side character from a tv show or a movie. adrian would sooner be dr. finkelstein or mr. bobinsky than popular characters like jack skellington or even regular frankenstein
adrian's absolutely one for a couple's costume too-- equally niche or irrelevant, of course. every trick-or-treater that questions his getup (and yours by extension) has to endure his extensive reasoning before he reluctantly drops a king-sized candy bar into their bag (because he's "cool like that, duh")
he has a sort of sixth sense for corn mazes. while he sometimes makes loops around the field or hits dead ends on occasion, adrian can get you two out of a maze in no time-- he keeps track of this and tries to beat his record every year
adrian is most certainly the bonfire stoker, and he does a fabulous job at it. despite this, he's terrible at making s'mores, and is usually resigned to gnawing on a charcoal marshmallow after his fifth attempt at roasting. he looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky when you offer him a perfectly-roasted, melty s'more
he turns into a fiend of a snuggler as soon as there's a slight chill in the air. every evening ends with you cuddled into plush throw blankets on the sofa, watching one of the previously mentioned movies
adrian's the best hiking buddy, he knows some of the best trails and keeps the most painstakingly-detailed tabs on when peak fall foliage is set to happen. hikes serve as yap-fests for him too, so expect yourself to be well-versed in tree and bird facts by the end of your walk
unfortunately, you can't light fall candles when adrian's over; he feels like somebody who's allergic or at the very least sensitive to artificial scents, especially the more pungent ones... i fear that pumpkin spice yankee candle is staying sealed
even though adrian himself isn't super tall, he's a great apple picking partner; if he can't reach one, he'll pick and hold you up with ease-- he loves to sweep you off your feet
your halloween decorations are very spider-based. there are fake cobwebs everywhere, and adrian has a surplus of those fuzzy poseable spider figures to wrap around railings, lamps, or basically anything and everything he thinks needs a little spooky flair
adrian is an ace at baking. he's helped his mom with making fall treats since he was a kid, and can now make a mean apple crisp and the fluffiest cinnamon rolls with ease
