As the bottle went flying, he felt his eyes trace where it went and heard it shatter on the concrete. He wasn’t only half mad, there wasn’t enough liquor left in it to be fully mad, but just irritated. Astor’s name just made him more irritated. Mentioning of being drunk just made him laugh. “No, absolutely not, that whole bottle just fucking evaporated and I poured a little out when I was contemplating whether or not to jump – of course I am drunk. And, hey, you know, fuck Astor.” He shook her off, now in a surly mood and there could be a chance he’d get sober. He wasn’t usually this mean, this short-tempered, but the game of real or fiction was wearing on his nerves. “Do me a favor and just – leave me alone.”

Her eyes narrowed towards Wolfgang, not really wanting to have to deal with his drunk attitude. “Stop being an asshole,” Diana said, rolling her eyes at him melodramatic reaction towards her and the mention of Astor. “There’s plenty of alcohol elsewhere anyways, I know you’re good at finding it.” Frowning at him, Wolfie had activated the aggravated side of Diana. She had patience, but not for him when he was drunk. “You want to fuck Astor? That’s new.” She chimed, knowing eventually he’d get over his obnoxiousness... maybe. Diana knew this would be over once he sobered up, but she couldn’t help him if he threw himself off a bridge. “How about we go back to my place? There’s more booze there to help your drunken ramblings. You know I always buy the good stuff.” Honestly, she just wanted to make sure he was okay. “Your lucky you can’t destroy your liver, huh love?”

“Sorry? Don’t be-” Ronnie was hardly phased by much anymore. She’d probably seen more nightmares than this entire town combined. Sure, maybe half of those were caused by her, but regardless, she did feel bad for the girl in front of her. “Is there anything-” Ronnie stopped, her hand hovering just above the girl’s shoulder, unsure if it was alright to actually touch her, “Here, lets get you out of the road and… well, lets just start with that,” Her hand gently grasped the girl’s elbow as she lead her away from any danger and closer towards the bench just off the side of the road, “Are you alright? Well… is there anything I can do to make it somewhat alright?”

Diana was starting to come to, especially once the girl led her to the bench. She had recognized the woman from somewhere, but she wasn’t sure where. In her hazy mind, she almost called out the name of her childhood friend. “I’m- I’m okay.” Diana breathed, although she wasn’t completely sure. “The explosion, I think it just really... set me off.” She said, covering her face. “Is it over? The fire?” Shaking her head, she swallowed her tears back. Eventually, she would have to make it to the hospital and help her team. “I’m sorry... Are you okay?” She looked at the other woman, making sure that she didn’t need to drag her to the hospital.

The explosion made the ground shake. Someone’s shoulder clipped into his. Solomon pushed back to keep them upright and continued. His eyes were beginning to clear as he made it to main street. A shriek ripped over the sound of shouting and sirens. He turned to the sound and reached out to help the woman that fell. There were too many people all at once. All scared, and all trying to flee. He could still hear the flames roaring in his ears. In the back of his mind, questions and accusations buzzed like flies. As this woman fell, there was something tangible in front of him. Someone to help. When she shoved him away, he took a few steps back, hands raised in surrender. Solomon was still in this stance when looked up at him, eyes wide and misty like a confused child. At the apology, he held out a hand again. “It’s alright, there’s a lot to take in,” he said. “Are you able to walk away from here?”

Diana blinked as she came to, unsure what to do or say. The fire... it was still happening? It felt like she had traveled for a much longer time. “Yeah.” She breathed in, her hands shaking as she could finally hear the continued screams of people. “I... I don’t know.” Diana said honestly, shaking her head. “What happened?” She said, looking back towards the commotion. Finally standing up, she wobbled to her feet, she looked up at the man. Looking him over she recognized him as one of the waiters from one of her favorite restaurants. “Are you okay?” Diana asked, knowing she would eventually be okay. “Did you see what happened?” Diana continued to ask, taking a step towards him. She knew she was in no condition to run back towards the fire and help her team.

Screaming wasn’t something that was unheard of, around them there were mothers calling for children, there were husbands looking for wives, and all orders of family looking for others among coughing and wailing of sirens. And Ray was somewhere in the middle, directing and tending to patients. He had a beanie pulled over his head, the EMTs had tossing him gloves and a stethoscope, he’d already begun directing people to a medical tent. He needed to get back to the hospital, but right now directing was half the battle. His pager was going off nonstop and he’d tuned it out. He was used to on-site trauma as much as the next person, he’d taken a lot of internships after medical school trying to find his best route. As she came to, he looked at her. “Don’t be.” She didn’t appear to be in the fire. “Are you alright, were you in the fire?”

Diana looked up, surprised to see Ray. “I-I...” She breathed, trying to control her breath. This was someone who worked for her- she certainly couldn’t have them seeing her in a moment of weakness. “Yeah, the explosion... I was there.” Well, for a moment- she wasn’t lying. She had been around some other explosions as well, but that was neither here nor there. Diana noticed more ash on herself than the areas around her. Swallowing hard, Diana held her tears in. “Is everyone else okay? Are you okay?” Diana said, her voice shakey. Her eyes darted around to see if there was anyone around them, all the noise was rattling her nerves. The sickness from traveling hit her and she became impossibly paler. “What happened...?”

He had just set Maddox down, intent on fishing his keys out of his pocket so that he could get her into the car. They could easily walk, but he had his own qualms about leaving his car in the middle of town when it came to the unexplainable things that had been happening lately. He wouldn’t leave his only mode of transportation sitting somewhere that wasn’t easily accessible in case of the worst. He heard screaming from behind him and he swore, spotting the brunette and moving over towards her, Maddox on his heels. He paused at her request for him to stop, kneeling in front of her as Maddox came to his side, half-hiding behind him. She had been practically attached to him since he had been injured, and she loudly mumbled next to him. “Daddy, is she okay?” She asked, eyeing the brunette with curiosity as Trent cautiously reached a hand out. “I don’t know, Mads.” He said before he glanced back at her. “It’s perfectly fine. You’re fine here, but we should probably get you out of the street.” He said with a small smile, his voice soft and reassuring.

Diana softened the moment she heard the little girl’s voice, recognizing it immediately. Looking up she saw Trent and she smiled sadly at him, apologetic if she had scared either of them. They were both some of her favorite people in New Orleans. “I-I’m okay.” His voice relaxed her a bit from her shock. Moving towards the street, she gave Maddox a small smile. “The explosion... Is everything over?” She asked cautiously, unsure of when she traveled back to New Orleans. But once she got a better look at Maddox, she knelt down to her level to see her wounds. “How are you feeling, love? This all must have been so scary.” Diana said softly, fishing her hand into her pocket to take out a small butterscotch candy. In times of her own fear, she tried to focus on other people rather than herself. “How about you, Trent...?” Standing back up, her voice was still a little shakey, from traveling. “I’m... I’m sorry if I scared you both. I don’t know what came over me.”

With the recent events that had taken place at Jazzland, Ares was certain he wasn’t the only person in the entire town that was left reeling from the effects, that continued to be affected by the event. The overwhelming stench of smoke flooded his senses every single time he found himself walking down the main street; he could still hear the screaming of those trapped by the thick black billows of smoke.

As the traveler attempted to shake the horrific memories from his brain, a shrill scream resounded inside his eardrums, taking him right back to that night in Jazzland. At first, the male firmly believed the squeal was his mind playing a cruel trick on him, however, it soon became apparent to him this was false as his eyes clapped sight of a fellow traveler evidently in distress a few feet from where he had come to a halt.

While the girl fell to the ground beneath her, Ares was running toward her. Collapsing onto the pavement in front of her, he reached out to grasp onto her upper arms. “Hey, hey! Woah, you’re okay!” He attempted to grab her attention but it was futile as she pushed him away and he obliged. Then in a softer tone, he addressed the other traveler as she peered up at him. “It’s alright. You’re safe.” Ares reassured her before rising to stand, extending an arm toward her to offer her help up from where she knelt on the ground.

Her eyes widened once she saw a fellow time traveler, a wave of warmth came over her as she took his hand. “Ares,” Diana said softly, so pleased it was someone who would understand. “The explosion...” She started, looking around to make sure they both weren’t in harms way anymore. “It sent me back.” Looking up at him with her big brown eyes, she searched his face. “It made me jump- I don’t know.” Lord, she felt sick. For once she wasn’t able to have her composure in front of the other time travelers, her throat tightened as she swallowed back tears. She hadn’t seen the face of her mother in forty years, and she purposely lived her life that way.

Tears bubbled over as she rubbed her nose, her tears mixing in with the falling ash. Diana shook her head and kicked her foot to try to hold back her emotions. “What happened?” Finally looking back up at the taller man, she began to look over Ares. Her hand reaching up and tilting his head side to side to make sure there weren’t any marks. “Did you get caught up in the explosion as well? Did you travel?” As per usual, she would rather focus on the other traveler than herself.

“I’m just... I’m glad it was you who found me.” Diana admitted. “No one else would understand.” She could use a bottle of red wine at the moment. “This traveling business... I’ve never quite fancied it. Some things are better left in the past.” Even in this town, they weren’t safe, no one was safe. But Diana was supposed to keep them all safe and she hated having a weak moment in front of any of them. “I’m sorry- for all this. Thank you, Ares.”

When things seemed to calm down a bit, Lana decided she wanted to walk home. Or at least some of the way home. She just needed to get away from all the smoke and the smell that was burning her eyes and throat. As she was walking home and reflecting on all the shit that had just gone down at Jazzland, she saw a woman screaming in the middle of street. Acting more on instinct than anything, Lana rushed to see what was wrong. When she extended her hand, the woman pushed back. Lana was slightly taken aback, but nodded when the woman apologized. “It’s okay,” she said, slowly approaching the woman again, hands to her side to show she meant no harm. “Are you okay? Do you need me to get some help?”

Still a little shell-shocked, Diana wasn’t sure where she was exactly. “I-uh-I,” She shook her head. She recognized the other woman from New Orleans, forcing Diana to try to gain her bearings. “I’m okay, I just... Got sick from the explosion.” Oh lord, this woman was going to think she was crazy. “Did you, um, see what happened?” Tucking a hair behind her ear, Diana stood up fully. “Sorry, I don’t know what came over me.” The explosion was just like those of her childhood, she hadn’t jumped in so long she felt sick. Her hand went to her mouth, thinking she was going to throw up for a moment. “Is it- is it calmer back there now? Are people okay?” What if she came back to the wrong time?

The explosion had scared her, brought her back to her childhood. One moment she was at the scene, the next she was lost in time again. But before she knew it she was in the middle of the main street, tears streaming down her face as she let out a scream. She couldn’t go back there- she couldn’t go back in time again. “Make it stop!” She cried out, her hands covering her face as she fell to her knees not yet realizing she was back. A person came to rush at her and she let out a violent scream, pushing them away. “Don’t!” Once she came to, she looked up at the person like a lost child. “I... I’m sorry.” She breathed, trying to catch herself once she realized where she was.

He couldn’t handle this, any of this. The perpetual feeling like he was still travelling, like his feet weren’t on the ground. He wasn’t fully locked into this reality in which he really belonged. Images, flashes of something else, kept slipping into his mind, and his hands wouldn’t stop shaking. So he steadied them with a bottle of vodka, until the spinning had a reason to be there, until his hands and head had a reason to shake. He wondered if anyone knew he was missing. Another swallow of the liquor as he shook his head. He stepped onto the railing of the bridge, staring at the water below. One hand on the railing, the other around a bottle of liquor. Madness or drunk bravery had him wondering if he could travel before he hit the water.

Rushing back to the hospital, Diana paused when she saw someone on the bridge. As they stood up to get on the railing, Diana rushed towards them. Her voice wouldn’t escape fast enough as she snatched his shirt and pulled him off. “What on earth are you doing?!” She yelled, the rush of adrenaline all but stopped her from punching him. “Wolfgang- you- what- why?” She was lost for words until she saw the bottle and knocked it out of his hands. “Were you going to jump?!” Her heart was pounding, fear of losing one of her friends overwhelming her. “If you even dare to do that again... I’ll tell Astor. How could you be so reckless? Are you drunk?”

Winny’s head rested against the side of a pillar as the events from the night came to a calm. There was still a faint scent of smoke in the air. Her eyes still felt watery from the exposure and a lack of sleep. She blinked to keep them open as other nurses slipped past. She got a call an hour ago. No work for her today, but as the wall burnt to almost nothing and charred rafters greeted her, she lingered. There was talk yesterday about the tox reports. They found something unknown in the screening, which made her curious and horrified all at once. The fire was an added bonus to the worry she already felt. She wasn’t one for the unknown. As a scrape echoed behind her, Winny moved away from her impromptu resting place. “Are you alright?” she asked them, hands already moving to the first aid pack around her hips, “Are you hurt?”

Diana hadn’t seen it coming- no one could have seen it coming. Wandering in a daze, she held her head and tried to get her bearings around her. Diana had to get to the hospital, she had to prepare her staff for what just happened. Her clarity came when she heard a familiar voice. “Winny...?” Diana breathed, reaching out towards her. “I’m- I’m okay. What on earth happened.” Finally getting herself balanced, Diana ran a hand over her face. “We have to get these people out and to the hospital immediately.” Her mind was racing with who could have possibly done this in their town. She had to get ahold of Astor quickly once she got everything else stabilized. “Did you see what happened?” Diana asked the ER nurse, hoping to get any information that could help.

Born into the harshest times of WWII in England, Diana herself was a miracle. A tiny one born into the rubble of her family’s home with no father present. It was to be expected, her father was a high ranking naval officer who had to keep up the long line of naval history in their family. How would her mother have known her baby would come during The Blitz? Once she was born she was handed off to her older brother who had to keep a stiff upper lip while the world around them was destroyed. Their house had been one that was obliterated in the bombings done by the Nazis. Mother didn’t survive the next wave as eight-year-old Peter had to escape the shelter in their backyard with his baby sister through the streets to find a public shelter. Once they had arrived it seemed like years passed before the bombs stopped.

Since their family was torn the two children were sent to live with their aunt in the countryside where it was safer. It would be five years before the war ended and they could go back to live with their father. When he arrived back he brought his new French wife home with him. This was the beginning of the Cinderella story that molded Diana to be the woman she became. Her stepmother was cruel to her, and Diana ended up raising her two younger stepsiblings. Her brother was shipped off to a private boarding school, miles from being able to protect her anymore. Diana had to be the responsible one for the family since her father was constantly gone and her stepmother preferred a social life over her family. Her lifestyle was that she had to keep a stiff upper lip and study to escape this reality.

Applying to MIT was a way to escape from the home she had grown to despise. But it had taught her one thing, how to keep level-headed- which would later be her greatest strength. She had used all her free time to study to escape the hellhole her father had banished her to. Learning to balance taking care of a family and working hard built her to be a very dependable woman. When her acceptance letter arrived her stepmother was furious, but her father made sure she had everything she needed to settle in Massachusetts. Getting into MIT changed her life forever, way beyond what she had foreseen when she applied.

When the accident happened, Diana had no way of knowing that this would be the rest of her life. In fact, she didn’t even truly notice she wasn’t aging, she wasn’t someone that ever really fascinated with their looks. Once other time travelers started… traveling, she became instantly concerned. There was so much in time to ruin, they had to be careful with what they were doing. As much as she tried holding on to them all, they all left her one by one. All she wanted was to save them, she didn’t even take into consideration the paranormal aspects of their mistakes. Whenever she would run into another time traveler she would beg them to stay with her, not make any more mistakes than they had already made. Diane swore off time jumping for years, especially after finding herself beginning to get lost every time she jumped- fearing she would lose any more of herself. Once she began hearing the horror stories of what had happened with the others, she knew she had to do something to stabilize the group no matter what.

That’s when she heard of the New Orleans that had been created. Leaving behind her family that she had seen age around her, she finally made the jump to be there with the others. That’s where she found Astor and managed to convince him to take control of the others when she could not. There was so much evil that had been brought back to life by her colleagues, and they had to bring it to an end. Diana was able to open up the Lindy Boggs Medical Center in order to keep a good eye on everyone within the town. This is where she could best serve the needs of the people while remaining in the know. All she is sure of anymore is that nothing good will ever come from her powers- and even her friends.

Sane doesn’t even begin to cover the mindset of Diana. Having a positive mindset, Diana only wants to help people and see the best in them. Even when it feels like the world is coming to an end, she is very maternal to people. Her patience is outlasted by none, even when dealing with other Time Travelers. They all did this to each other, so she doesn’t want to point fingers at who is guilty of destroying their lives. While she does have a strong head on her shoulders, she does have moments of weakness and sometimes even uses them to manipulate people into doing the right thing. Her big bubble tears can break even the hardest of men when they know she only has the best intentions to help them. She enjoys guilting the others into doing what she wants or even what might be best for them in her opinion.

Even with as patient as she can be, she still can become utterly frustrated without showing it. She has a strong sense of justice and doesn’t mind being the one to knock someone down a peg. Don’t take her kindness for granted because she can easily whip people into shape with her tongue. While she doesn’t believe anyone can be hopeless, she does know when to let people dig themselves out of their own misery. Diana is also known for being quite possessive of her friends, especially the other travelers. She is not quick to trust people and always worries about what others intentions are. This causes her to worry excessively about her friend’s safety, whether or not they deserve it.
