• As a coaching team, we want to present a complete package. I've never been a coach who just shows up, puts the players through their paces, and then goes home when training is over. I've always taken care of things that happen at the club. Now it's a federation, now it's a country. I've always felt responsible at the club I was working for. I feel a responsibility to everyone who's a football fan in this country. And that means doing the job as well as possible.
• Luckily the first game isn't tomorrow. I'd be overwhelmed. I'll be watching games in every country where our players are, including here in Germany, of course. I've gained a tremendous amount of insight lately. Maintaining contact with the players is very important, and I'll try to get in touch with them early on. That will be my first task.
• Success is how you perform in relation to the expectations. When we ask in Germany: are we as good as France? And the answer is no, that's not true. The question should be: do we have players like: Dembélé, Mbappé, Doué, Barcola? The answer is no. But we still can beat them. It's not important to look at France, Spain, Argentina. The most important thing is to look at ourselves and how we play football. We aren't number one in the world at the moment, that's true. There are 11 nations ahead of us in the ranking - but we have to make beating them possible, with the way we play football
• It's been a while since I've watched international matches outside of major tournaments. I would really like us all to watch all the international matches again. We all agree that successful football can change a country
• I have ideas, but I haven't spoken to anyone yet. I'm not going to assign any positions here. Whoever is very good, really keen, and whoever gets even better the moment they put on the national team jersey, will play
• Players will get opportunities they might not even be expecting right now, because I like to be bold. I’m keen to work with guys who want to play a style of football that everyone enjoys. It’s not always immediately successful, but I also want to achieve something with the national team that makes people go home and think, ‘Wow, that was really cool.’ A few things are needed to achieve that. Everyone who is eligible to play for the national team should give their all. I’ll be watching. Nobody is being written off today. It’s a fresh start
• I want to get very involved in the structures. Whoever brings in Jürgen, gets Jürgen. Everyone is happy today, but I'm not sure if that will be the case every day. I want to improve everything. • Rudi will be an incredibly important contact person. His experience, his outlook on life, his ability to get angry at the right moments – I want all of that in my team. He promised me he has a few stories to tell that I don't know yet. I'm really looking forward to that. It'll be good. I admired him greatly as a player

Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as German national team's coach.
Jürgen Klopp will be the new head coach of the German men's national football team . The 59-year-old signed a four-year contract today at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt am Main and will lead the national team to UEFA EURO 2028 and the FIFA World Cup 2030. Previously, the supervisory board and shareholders' meeting of DFB GmbH & Co. KG had unanimously approved the proposal by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and First DFB Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke.
On August 15, 2026, Jürgen Klopp will succeed Julian Nagelsmann , who resigned as national coach on July 3 after the German national team's elimination from the World Cup against Paraguay .
Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders, and Sven Bender will join Klopp as assistant coaches at the German Football Association (DFB).
- Krawietz and Lijnders are longtime associates of Klopp, having won the UEFA Champions League with him at Liverpool in 2019 and the English Premier League title in 2020, among other trophies. The 43-year-old Dutchman Lijnders was most recently Pep Guardiola's assistant coach at Manchester City. The 54-year-old Krawietz, who also worked with Klopp at Mainz and Dortmund, joins the DFB from Red Bull. Sven Bender (37) returns after stints as assistant coach at Dortmund and head coach at Unterhaching. The seven-time German international previously served as assistant coach for the DFB's U16 and U17 national teams from 2022 to 2024.

- DFB President Bernd Neuendorf explains: "Jürgen Klopp, like few others, embodies passion, credibility, and the ability to inspire people. After Julian Nagelsmann's resignation, he was our unequivocal choice for the position of national team coach. That's why we pursued him relentlessly. I would like to thank everyone who paved the way for this collaboration, especially Oliver Mintzlaff for the constructive discussions and his cooperative attitude, as well as Aki Watzke for his tremendous support."
- Hans-Joachim Watzke, 1st Vice President of the DFB, says: "For me, Jürgen is one of the best coaches in the world. He makes his players better. He is also a man who inspires, leads and unites people. That is exactly what the national team needs."
- DFB sporting director Rudi Völler says: "Jürgen Klopp has proven over many years at the highest level that he can develop young players and get his teams to perform under pressure. He is also a great motivator who will inspire our fans and German football. I look forward to working with him."
- At the end of September and beginning of October, Jürgen Klopp and the national team will play four international matches in a single international break for the first time. After the opening match against the Netherlands on September 24 (8:45 p.m. CET, live on RTL) in Amsterdam, Germany will face Greece three days later in Augsburg in Klopp's first home international (September 27, 8:45 p.m. CET, live on ARD). This will be followed by the match against Serbia in Munich on October 1 (8:45 p.m. CET, live on ZDF) and the game against Greece in Thessaloniki on October 4 (8:45 p.m. CET, live on RTL).

It feels like everything I've worked so hard for has collapsed in the last few days. Leaving the tournament like this hurts incredibly. And I'm not going to pretend that everything is suddenly back to normal.
What hurts me most is that I couldn't help the team as much as I'd planned because of my injury. Anyone who knows me personally knows what I've sacrificed in the last year and a half since my injury to get back to being as fit and strong as ever. That makes it even angrier that I had to accept at this point that my ankle just couldn't take it anymore.
Right now, I feel absolutely awful. I'm disappointed, empty, and honestly, I don't know how to process all of this. But I can promise you one thing: I will overcome this injury too, I will do everything I can to come back even stronger than ever, and I won't give up until I'm back on the pitch.
The ones who knows me personally are aware of what I've sacrificed in the last year and a half since my injury to get back to being as fit and strong as ever. Hard to put into words. This early exit hurts, and we're aware that we didn't live up to expectations.
Despite the huge disappointment, it was an honor to have been part of this World Championship. From day one, it was clear to me that I wanted to fully embrace my role and give everything for the team and for Germany at every stage.

As a small child, I dreamed of representing Germany at a World Cup. Being able to live that dream fills me with incredible pride and gratitude. Wearing our country's jersey on football's biggest stage is something I will never take for granted.

@/jonathantah: I am incredibly disappointed and saddened that we've been knocked out of the tournament. To be honest, I still haven't fully processed it. At the same time, I am extremely grateful and proud to have represented my country at a World Cup for the very first time.
The team, our country, and everyone who supports German football hoped for so much more. Right now, the hardest part is accepting that we gave everything we had to have a successful tournament, yet it still wasn't enough.
The missed penalty has replayed in my mind thousands of times, and I keep trying to imagine somehow putting the ball in the net. But the reality is that it didn't go in. And that hurts
One thing is certain, though: I'd take it again next time. With complete belief and confidence that I'd score it for Germany. It didn't work out this time, but it won't stop me from stepping up again the next time the opportunity comes.
As a team, we will keep moving forward. And I will keep moving forward too, no matter what comes my way.
