Here is my custom Rocco from the movie Friday Night Frights. He uses a fully custom sculpted head on a 3D printed Manny Taur body with wings from a 28inch Gore-geous Ghoul doll.
He's definitely a hodge podge of different things but I'm really happy how it all came together. It was my first time customising a doll made from filament but I think it works since he's a rough and tumble gargoyle that the texture works into his favour.
I did debate on making him his uniform but I rather enjoy having casual looks for my signature MH collection so I opted to give him Ken jeans alongside this custom tank top I made from this distressed fabric and a set of Shadow High boy shoes to tie it all together.
I really like Friday Night Frights as it introduces both Rochelle and Robecca, and I finally got make Rocco.
Since getting a Manny Taur body 3d printed in a pretty textured plastic, I knew it would be fun to lean into the texture by having him be a gargoyle. And of course, as a fan of Monster High movies, I had to make the antagonist Rocco from Fright Night Frights.
Since I can only sculpt the traditional way, I just built on top of the 3D printed torso neck joint with some cling film separating my epoxy putty from the print.
It took several passes and I did carve and sand as well, but I think it captures his look while also being passable as a Monster High doll.
As for his face, since he lacked eyebrows and lips, it was relatively easy just doing his hooded eyes and filling into the details where I can.
Here are my two Guillermo Del Toro custom dolls. Honestly, if Frankenstein hadn't hit so hard aesthetically and made me inspired to finish the Frankenstein doll, the Asset would have spent at least a few more years unfinished.
I'd love to eventually add a doll from Crimson Peak or Pan's Labyrinth here but that is a big undertaking for someone who can't sew well lol.
