I just read about an ancient Sumerian god named Kulla and felt so much sympathy that now I want him in my next game. Listen to this:
Kulla is a god of bricks and foundations, the pickaxe and the construction site. Builders sacrifice fine drinks and grain to invite his blessing on the work. But when the labor is finished, Kulla must be driven away. His presence would require more building, more bricks, more repairs⦠so they exorcise the god with another ritual, set his image on a boat and turn their backs upon it as Kulla is sent to the other world. Even reusing bricks from an old project is dangerous, since it could make Kulla return and cause the building to be remade.
Now, in 2000 BCE, the priests were general experts on the gods. But in a D&D world, a cleric could be dedicated to just the god Kulla! Imagine a wandering architect or digger, roaming from town to town and helping people make new homes. Whispering to the clay and the shovel, driven away when the job is done. I think heās got the domains of Renewal, City, Craft and Earth.
Idea: research a lesser-known ancient deity and make a cleric based on their portfolio!

two-factor authentication makes me feel the same way those right wing boomer comics think people feel about ordering coffee. except they just made that situation up to be weird about usually queer-coded, working class people, but i actually am constantly having to scramble for my mobile because every bloody website under the sun has decided that people aren't reliant enough on phones already. like mate what if it's broken. what if it's out of charge. i just want to order groceries on my laptop i really don't care if anonymous hacker #69 knows how many half price depression chocolate bars i buy.

To schedule a plasma donation at the plasma center that I've been donating at for more than ten years, now in the last few months requires me to get an email or text with a one-time passcode number. On my laptop in my browser with all the cookies and bookmarks and history that say I'm the same person trying to donate plasma as I was ten years ago. This is not good. What's hackable about my plasma donation appointment?

i really wanted to become the kind of woman who confidently calls people "babe", but instead i somehow did the grandmaskip and now i call all my friends "dear" and "darling"

I havenāt figured out how yet, but there should be some kind of commission or reward system when your friends get into a show you recommended. maybe a series of roguelite-esque perks
"cozy bookstore" "cozy cafe with a bookshelf" "omg imagine if there was a place you could just sit and read at" we have this its called the library. you guys want to go to the library. the two college libraries near me have cafes inside and they are open to the public. people need to go to the library
perhaps the prince should be allowed to command two of his knights to fuck each other for his own amusement. perhaps that's a reasonable and responsible use of the authority of the crown.
Tabletop RPG character who, when encountering any sort of systemic injustice, piously declares that in their homeland such things do not happen; eventually it's revealed that they're the sole survivor of a very localised apocalypse, and the reason their homeland does not have such things is because everybody's dead.
I mean, yes, I'm "literally from Hell" if you wanna get real technical about it, but I don't do what I do because I'm inherently evil. Like all beings, my actions are informed by their material circumstances ā the material circumstances in question being "it would be really, really funny".
It's so, so funny when folks bring up GURPS as a counterexample to the argument that even purportedly generic tabletop RPG character creation systems are tuned to produce a specific Type of Guy. GURPS character creation is desperate to produce the snarky unreliable narrator of a military science fiction novel. GURPS is practically gagging for it. GURPS will do unspeakable things to push your character in that direction.
I've used the GURPS (the S in GURPS stands for System, calling it the GURPS system is like ATM machine or PIN number redundancy) to create a character with the second edition's version of the Multiple Personality Disorder disadvantage with three character sheets as a modern day Catholic Priest/ a fantasy sneaky wizard ala the Grey Mouser/ and a scifi Han Solo. I also made a Fantasy Folk version of a Ghoul (living but mistaken for undead) gigolo.
I won't say neither could be a snarky unreliable narrator of a military science fiction novel, but I don't think I read that David Weber novel.
