Nearly 2 1/2 years since she released this song I hope this beautiful lady made it to Heaven. My question is how many of us often really listen to lyrics and not just hook? REALLY LISTEN. This song was an eloquent and beautiful song but it was a song ALL about surrender. If you listen to the lyrics they are all about Whitney giving up.
As I lay me down Heaven hear me now I’m lost without a cause After giving it my all Winter storms have come And darkened my sun After all that I’ve been through Who on earth can I turn to?
These are lyrics that speak on someone who is done with life. She is looking to God. And I have no problem with that. Lets continue.
Chorus: I look to you, I look to you After all my strength is gone In you I can be strong I look to you, I look to you And when melodies are gone In you I hear a song I look to you
I am glad that she was looking to the almighty for the answers. Realizing that he is the song of love. He and only him can make a person complete but biblical notation shows us that God wants us to fight. On a positive note we see where her faith laid. Not in man, not in addiction, in God. But there was more to here lyrics that bothered me.
'bout to lose my breath There's no more fighting left Sinking to rise no more Searching for that open door And every road that I've taken Led to my regret And I don't know if I'm go'n make it Nothing to do but lift my head Chorus: My levees are broken My walls are coming down on me My rain is falling Defeat is calling I need you to set me free Take me far away from the battle I need you Shine on me!
Looking into these lyrics she has been begging for God to come release her from this hell for the last 2 1/2 years. She asked him to take her far from the battle. Searching for an open door, a way out. Her wish has been granted and all I can pray is that for the last 2 1/2 years as she has been singing for God to release her from this earth that she has been keeping up the good fight. Rest in Peace and I pray you are with the man you have looked to.
P.S. R. Kelly wrote this song and we know how he feels and how he has battled with his spirituality. These lyrics come from his heart but spoke for Whitney. I hope he also keeps fighting the good fight.
People as you listen to this song in loving memory of her realize everything you listen to is not for your spirit. I personally want got to leave me on the battle field and I plan to win. Flaws and all.
