Okay I love the "I'm vaccinated and ready to party this summer" attitude, but do yous realize you can still transmit the virus to people who are not vaccinated. The vaccine aims to prevent severe symptoms and death, it does not stop transmission. Even if youre vaccinated, you can still catch covid—your case will just be mild or asymptomatic, and you can get other people sick, who may be hospitalized or die if they're not fully vaccinated. So chill out, keep wearing your masks and social distancing. If you don't want to cause you're bored or lonely—SUCK. IT. UP.

This is literally not true stop it. I am 100% for encouraging people to be on the safe side but I’m not gonna stand for misinformation from either side.

When the vaccines were first approved, we did not know if the vaccines stopped transmission, so we were told to act as though they did not stop transmission for safety reasons. They didn’t test for it in the emergency phased trials. It was speculated the entire time that the vaccines likely reduced transmission... because that’s how vaccines work.

Now we have evidence that the mRNA vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, do actually prevent transmission. Animal studies have shown decreases in transmission. In Israel, where a majority of the adult population is vaccinated (with Pfizer), they have seen a 75-89% reduction in asymptomatic infections, meaning that getting the vaccine significantly reduces your changes of being an asymptomatic spreader. Oxford also has evidence that their AstraZenica vaccine also reduces transmission. It may not be peer reviewed and replicated research, but for all intents and purposes, as of me writing this on March 31, 2021, we can confidently say that the vaccines do prevent some level of transmission.

That being said, people absolutely should continue to follow regulations and guidelines. The CDC guidelines for people who have been fully vaccinated (aka 2 weeks past your last dose) can be found here. Notice that fully vaccinated people are allowed to do things like visit indoors with other fully vaccinated people (or a single unvaccinated household with low risk) without regard to masks or ventilation, but should still wear masks in public or group settings. So absolutely keep wearing your masks and social distancing. Because that’s what the recommendations say. Not because of lies made up about the vaccine.

The first comment is what we call propaganda and fear mongering. It's based on old/false information and is attempting to convince you that not only are the vaccines not effective but that you're being selfish by getting vaccinated. It's A LIE. Listen to your doctors and the read what that second comment says carefully. The vaccines effective rate at immunizing the person vaccinated is high. The rate of symptoms and of being a carrier is low. If everyone does their civic duty & gets the vaccine, continues with the *Federal Mandate* of wearing masks, and follows Guidelines, we'll get through this with medical help and good leadership.

My best guess for the rationale of "still wear masks & social distance" guidance is two things:

It backs up the social norms. If vaccinated people got to go maskless & get close to people in public, it's likely that some portion non-vaccinated people would claim vaccination to get out of the restrictions. Managing that would basically make even the patchwork of current enforcement on mask mandates So Much Worse.

Breakthrough cases. We have some cases now - very, very few - of people getting covid after being vax'd. This is a thing with every vaccine. It's less than a percentage point in the current data we have, and that's actually good news. At (can't dig sources right now but last I read for WA state) 0.01% of vaccinated people out in the real world, that means practical efficacy is closer to 99.99% than the 96% they got in the best trials! Still, reducing the amount of breakout cases depends on masks, social distancing, etc. It makes sense to keep that up until covid isn't really floating around the population anymore.

You know call me a prude, in fact call me anything you like but enough about COVID. It never has been the overwhelming epidemic that our leadership would have you believe. Anything that has a 96.8%recovery rate is not an epidemic. Yes, in the beginning, because we as a planet had never had to deal with it, the decision towards caution was a just one. But then the politicians got ahold of it, saw it as a way to force social and economic change on this country and help possibly even change the results of the power base. They manipulated us like virtuoso violinists and they are still doing it today. Everything you ask one of them something you never get the same answer twice. In fact you don't even get the same lie twice in the same way. The last time the government had this much control over the rights of an average citizen was 1918 during the outbreak of the "Spanish Flu". They are violating our Constitutional rights in a so far successful bid for even more power and security. Our government no longer has our well being anywhere within their agenda.
