Dmytro Shavala is a Ukrainian artist who works with wooden sculptures. He was born in 1994 in the city of Shklo. He currently lives and works in Lviv. He mastered working with wood at the Yosyf Stank Art School and at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. He also participated in the Fonderia Versiliese seminar in Italy. During his studies he was engaged in abstract sculpture. He began to work intellectually on the form and learned to feel and understand it. He researched Ukrainian wooden sculpture, trying to reveal its aesthetic value and originality. In his own works, Dmytro combines wood textures and tones, as well as glossy bright expressive colors that emphasize clear geometric shapes, bringing his work closer to op-art. His sculptures are characterized by the use of iterative elements centered around the visual centers. The works balance between painting and sculpture. With the help of such dynamic compositions, Dmytro reflects on the concepts of development and transformation, the sources of which are internal personal processes. Dmytro is inspired by the environment, geometry and color. He has participated in many exhibitions, including Artrooms 2019, London, Pietrasanta's Fonderia Versiliese seminar, Italy 2019, The wood 2016, Lviv. He is the winner of the Fonderia Artistica Versiliese 2019. Dmitry's works are stored in private collections in the United States, China, Great Britain, Italy, Australia, Germany, France and Spain.
