I’m your god
Been thinking about a specific Rhythm Heaven theory...
So I’d like to submit this idea because I don’t think I’ve seen anyone really talk about it here in the RH Tumblr tag? Because I personally think this theory holds water and I’m curious to hear what others think about it.
First off, let’s take a listen to Remix 5 from Rhythm Tengoku for GBA.
The song used for the remix is fantastic, but who played it? The one that wrote and composed it was Tsunku♂, aka the guy that’s also the developer of the series. Meanwhile, the band that actually played it was lead by Soshi, who also cameos in the game.
Now, let’s take a look at Soshi’s band at the time and the one that played the song for Rhythm Tengoku. Here’s a video of “Watashime Slug” from 2007, which also has a short clip of them performing WISH live.
Watashime Slug is a visual kei band, which can be considered the japanese version of glam rock. The main band members are Leo and Soshi, and when you take a look at their appearances from this time, you can’t help but notice they look….vaguely familiar……
THEORY: Leo and Soshi from Watashime Slug are the direct inspirations for the character designs of J.J. Rocker and his disciple, along with the idea in general for the Rockers game in Rhythm Heaven DS.
Heck, J.J. Rocker even has the exact same guitar that Leo uses, down to the shape, color, and the spot where they have a logo printed on.

RHDS was in development at the exact same time that Watashime Slug was doing music in 2007, and Soshi has already contributed not just music but also his appearance to the first game thanks to being connected with Tsunku♂. The timeline syncs up way too much for this to be a complete coincidence considering the previous facts involving the band’s connection with the developer of the game while they were active in the mid 2000s.
Anyway, that’s my theory. Take from it what you will, and thanks for reading!
