The boys sneezing did not go unnoticed, raising a brow slightly as he rose and took a few steps back.
Allergies, perhaps? It wasn’t uncommon for people to be allergic to him, the disadvantages of his feline association. Regardless, the boy filed this piece of information firmly away. Picking up bits of knowledge about the boy would come in handy when he made his escape.
Using the brief moment of silence that ate as the other squinted at him, the warrant officer did the same, looking the boy over with deliberately wide eyes in an attempt to look innocent. It was obvious he wasn’t fazed by his ears, no direct mention to them or freak out was present, meaning he must have seen something like him before, right?
Regardless, the most important thing was for his poorly thought excuse was bought, and as the boys word cut through the silence after what felt like hours, it seemed it did.
❝ … Is that so? I don’t remember employing a new servant. May I ask your name? ❞
However he hadn’t thought that far yet.
He couldn’t just give his actual name, right? But then again, the noble didn’t know him, everyone was kept in the dark about what was happening right now anyways, so what was the harm in letting him know?
Better through that in for good measure.
"I zhought you vould have been informed, but i vas supposed to have vinished mein job quickly, vithout notice. Ich bin zutiefst leid."
His ear started to flick as he spoke, a nervous twitch of sorts. Hopefully the boy would buy this again, he’d never been good at lying on the spot, usually he’d have time to think things through.
But the sooner he got out, the better. And right now the boy was blocking his path to the window, which meant until he could get to it, his lies had to hold up.
