BOYD HOLBROOK as John McBride in The Cursed (2021)
"Please, ye couldnae handle me." He thinks Felix might have been able to and he thought Dominic would try, but he's still got full confidence that even if he were interested, it wouldn't work out. He's not quite a bachelor anymore, not while the house is in his name but Adrian is very much at home, too. But by even insinuating it, Jamie's going to jump right to the beautiful elephant in the room. "Heard a certain person has forgiven ye quite a bit." What Sumeyye did was her business, but he couldn't say he wasn't concerned for her.
Dominic tilted his head, but he didn't entertain that thought with an answer. "I did forgive her," maybe he was being pretentious, but the two of them had it very...complicated. Sumeyye had given up on looking for him because his sire line had broken, a death, essentially. Only to show up with a chip in his head, mind broken – and to be fair, it was never actually healed. Nathan had broken it, that was all. Felix was very much alive, and Dominic had simply...repressed it as well as he could. "It's complicated. She's complicated." Women. They terrified him. Men were easier, more carnal, but women? They were smart. Smarter than him.
Sümeyye never needed to take any breaths at all, but she found herself taking a very deep one now. She didn't know what she should have expected from Dominic. He was different now. He'd been through things she could never truly understand and it really had broken her heart seeing him the way he had been just a few months ago. But here he was now and he was relatively okay excluding the whole need for revenge that he rightfully deserved. He didn't need her. Yet she always felt like she needed him. That was how it'd felt since she had gotten him back and she wasn't sure that would change regardless of what they were or what they meant to each other. "You don't have to do anything, Dominic. Just don't jerk me around. I've dealt with that enough and I can't...I can't do that again." Even as she said the words, she knew them to not be true. She always bent over backwards for the people she loved that didn't love her back. This would be no different.
Dominic frowned slightly, unsure what she even meant. Or maybe he did, but he chose to look away, rocking back and forth. He didn't even like coffee, yet here he was, standing there with her, coffee in hand. "How am I jerking you around? You haven't said shit about what you want, have ya? I'm out here like a fuckin' idiot trying to figure it out." He had to reign in his temper, everything around him felt like a trigger at times. He was so angry all the time; the Senate turning around and letting the Eye fuck them on demand; the city a "safe place for all". Statues of six strangers that decided they got to die while everyone else had to keep living. Selfish pricks. "Sorry, I'm just – this place fucking sucks."
Of all the things he could possibly say after ghosting her for as long as he had, that was what he had settled on. Sumeyye wasn't sure if he was just fucking with her at this point, but she really wasn't sure what emotion was going through her at the thought. She had given so many people her time and, often, they didn't deserve it. She should've known that and still, she found herself giving herself over to the first person that even looked at her like she was worth something. She had done so with Angel, with Theo...Ugh, she didn't even want to think of him. Hence why she was so annoyed by the fact that Dominic felt that it should be brought up in the middle of a party. "Did you seriously ask me to meet you here to ask about my ex, Dominic? Seriously?"
No one said he was articulate. Or smart. Well, he was smart, but not this kind of smart. Moreso street smart if they were going to get technical, but Dom wasn't going to linger on that. "No, I guess not, but I was just...making conversation." Things were awkward, he knew that. He'd fucked her, then walked out while they had a moment to spare, it wasn't like they had a manual on this stuff. "I don't know. What the fuck, Sumeyye. We died. And now we're here. What the hell do you want me to do, love? Invite you over for dinner?"

"What ye din miss me?" He feigns hurt after nodding towards the bartender and ordering a martini. "Thought we had a wee bit of a bond, the tae of us." Cat and mouse, they'd been both roles and in a sick kind of way, he missed it. Not for the vampire community, but because it'd been something to keep him busy that wasn't just what felt like an existential crisis. "What the hell are ye up tae anyways?"
"Want me to pull your hair and bite your neck, love?" Dominic leaned towards Jamie with a grin, though it was probably amusing to hear someone so cockney talking to a man who hadn't left 18th century Scotland in the past yet. The martini was expected, though Dom didn't have to say anything to make his opinion obvious. "I'm living, Jamie. You know, that thing I used to do before I was fucked over by the Eye. That everyone forgave and shit."
Person: @domxbirchall Location: Just a Bite He'd had suspicions that he knew better than to act on, on account of it what he thought was happening was indeed happening, he wanted to give them time to figure it out. But he wasn't above poking around a little at least so when he spots the once leech at the bar, he can't help but sink down onto the stool beside him. "Ye know, technically I think ye at least owe me a drink." For the hair pulling, he'll never forget it. And maybe for the nearly killing him part. But it's mostly the hair pulling.
Jamie had never been on Dominic's shit list. While he'd attacked the Marshal once, overpowered on the blood of other vampires, that was in the past. His little fresh start had worked and the Senate had rehabilitated him, whatever that meant. But he was never truly sane. He sat there, the presence of the other making him grin, "You never fail to miss me, do ya, mate?" He tilted his head to the side now, towards the bartender, "Order what you want. Before I change my mind. I'm a hard guy to bribe."

They'd died. Well, Dom had died. He was sure of it. The memories, though? They faded, over time. For now, though, he was actually grateful to have slowly forgotten what he'd done or said to Sumeyye. His sire was with him, now, as they stood awkwardly in line. Dominic was horrible at this; horrible at the way he had been so intent on ghosting her, or whatever that had been. Now, though, he stood with her, asking her to meet – and yet he had nothing smart to say. "So...you bummed your ex is now like king of the vampires?"

She shoved him again for good measure. "Well, I was worried. Sue me." Last time he had disappeared on her, she had thought him dead. Well, that was actually the time before the last time, but the thought was still there. Sümeyye felt like she was working overtime just to make sure this man didn't end up dead in a ditch somewhere. Or worse, caught by the Eye again. Maybe they weren't still experimenting given their status on the Senate, but trusting them didn't seem like a good idea either way. Anyway, she shoved Dominic again. "You better not fucking die. That's...not going to happen. Take that back." Actually, he was more infuriating than she remembered. He was fucking with her on purpose, she was sure of it. "And no, we will not have one last fuck before we go because we are not going to die." She paused and shoved him again one last time. "Maybe later though."
"You're always worried." He could've been rude, he could've pointed out that she'd stopped caring a long time ago. Though that would've been a lie. She never had stopped, which is why they were in this mess once again. "I died once, kind of. Takes a lot to bring me down." Dominic sighed when she turned him down, but he knew she'd give in eventually. This was hell, and vampires were perhaps the only ones that Death was taking. There was perhaps no time but the present to have their talk, and he looked at Sumeyye, "I've been avoiding you, obviously. And you keep fucking showing up. You know I love you. I've always loved you. I'm just a fucking mess."

She felt like she had been looking for him everywhere. Their phones certainly weren't down so he must have just been ignoring her texts. Which was actually very Dominic behavior. He'd ghosted her before. Sümeyye wouldn't have been surprised if he tried to do it again. But that wouldn't happen right now and she wouldn't let him. If she had to drag him out of his apartment by his hair, she would. Thankfully, she saw him just as she was about to head up to where he was staying. The streets were out of control and her face was covered in blood, but she made a beeline directly towards him. As soon as she was able to 'breathe' the same air as him, she shoved him. "What the fuck is wrong with you? Just answer one text, Dom. Just one."
He nearly tripped, nearly, had he not expected Sumeyye to appear. "Okay, in all fairness, the telephone lines are down." Wasn't that obvious? He tried not to laugh, though this was hardly a joking matter. The vampire was having a great time being a bit murderous, though for now, he figured he could humor her for the time being. "I'm glad you're okay, too." He sighed slightly, tilting his head, "I fully expect to die, though, so maybe we should have like...one last fuck before we go."

Dominic had always been good at running away. That was his life as a pirate, as someone who was wanted across the seas. He'd done a good job of avoiding it all, and it simply became easier as he'd become a vampire. As time went on, he never got tired of running. It was his nature. When he'd been captured, that sense of security still never left him. He had been tortured for so long that running seemed like the only option. Yet here he was, looking at Sumeyye like he owed her an apology. Instead, he just stood there, looking at her, "Hey."
"I highly doubt that, given how you've only just acquired your freedom again," she stated with ease, body positioned now to face him. Perhaps she should have been fearful of him, of the uncertainty with what he may do. The Leech had not been her project originally, but she had taken it on, had perfected it to precisely what she'd needed from him. That had been taken from her, however, replaced with this Dominic that was now before her. "I appreciate your concern," she goaded, a soft smile on her lips. "There's nothing more that I need to experiment on. And as a representative on the Senate, I'm hoping to make sure no more crimes are committed. On humans."
"Much to your fucking chagrin', isn't it, love?" Dominic looked at Sanem for a few more moments, like he was imagining pulling her eyes from her head. That would be fun. He'd hang them on the wall eventually. "You and this bloody war, it would be a shame if something happened to you during it." He was on the side of the vampires, at least for now. It didn't include the Senate – it didn't include the Eye. He hated all of them. "Yet all your crimes are just exonerated? Better think twice. Loads of creatures on the Senate, allying with you out of necessity. Better hope that doesn't come back to bite you in the ass."
