There are many ways to court a mer. Some like to pretty up their tail or hair and show off their beauty, some would do acts of strength to impress potential mates, but the most common is to find suitable gifts and shower their chosen mer with affection. While Briege will try to deny it, he likes decorating himself in gold and jewellry to look pretty, and a mertain moray just loves watching his chosen draped in his loose teeth and trophies. (Ash and Day think these two are obnoxious, Oliver and Nise think they're cute)

Nise was the main attraction of an aquarium, using her song and magic to quickly rise in popularity. Most of the public didn't know she was an actual mermaid, and the ones who did were mostly rich guests for private shows and scientists who studied her. While she wasn't unhappy, she often wondered what the actual ocean was like. She knew in her heart her magic could do so much more in only she wasn't stuck performing tricks in a cage. One day she was supposed to be shipped to another country for further studies, but her boat was unfortunately sunk in a "sudden storm". Now stuck in the middle of nowhere, she gets roped into the antics of a duo of sharks, a sassy snake witch, a shy eel witch, and his only slightly murderous brother.

Beyond the graveyard lies a deep trench. When one is forced to cross it, they say that they hear the screams of souls unfortunate enough to have encountered the either the guardian that hunts amongst fallen ships, or the witch that dwells in the cavernous depths. They say that the witch is as long and vast as the trench itself, with a gluttonous hunger that'll leave reefs barren and a hideous face is enough to age a mer 50 years at a glance.

Those who go to them for an actual wish are either those who are reckless, or those with nothing to lose, for meat is not the only thing that can satisfy their hunger. Your soul would do too.

O: [Well… it's not out of the realm of possibility. We are currently doing errands for a witch afterall.] A: "Are we sure that they're not just spreading rumors about Briege? It just kinda sounds like him but exaggerated." O: [The witch lives IN the trench, not outside, and Briege is shorter than most snakes.] A: "Haha, he's gonna turn yah into a shrimp for that." O: [...Only if someone snitches.] A: "Hmmm.... 3 days of barnacle duty!" O: [1] A: "3!" O: [....2] A: "Hmm.. Alright I'll have mercy." O: [It's a deal then] A: "Hey, I think we're all done! Let's go visit Day now!" O: [Hey, wait for me!] A: "You know... if there is really a witch here, do you think Day knows about them?"

A self proclaimed witch that lives on the outskirts of the reef. The "customers" he receives mostly ask for help with mundane problems, but he genuinely deals in potions with effects beyond most mer's imaginations. People speculate on how he gets the ingredients for these potions, considering his uniquely frail and weaker constitution. But the trench isn't a very far trek, and it helps when you have two young and spry helpers who love digging through a damned graveyard next to an equally damned, but mineral rich trench.

There's a large moray that haunts the graveyard. Rumors say that after losing his eye in a fight he made a deal with a witch. They say he gained the strength of 10 mer, in exchange for being it's eternal guard. Now Kayden drifts between the graveyard and the trench, looking to hunt any soul unfortunate enough to wander in.

Nise is a Koi who was stranded in the middle of the ocean after a bad storm sunk the ship she was on. Ash is a lemon shark with an eye for crafts and adventure! They especially like hanging out at the ship graveyard near the trench. Oliver is a timid nurse shark who is in charge of making sure his reckless best friend doesn't die.

Though... there are the rumors...

Equipment going haywire, cold spots, the sound of singing in the dead of night, the fact that cameras seem to lose signal near her room.

The stoic other half of the "Crash and Burn" duo, Olive isn't much for words, preferring to let Ash take the lead in most of their misadventures.

However, that's not to say he doesn't have much to say, as he makes sure to get his feelings across should anyone think he's some sort of pushover.

He's the straight-man for Ash's antics, and his "cold and mysterious" demeanor has garnered him a lot of popularity. Ash loves teasing him about it and prides themself on being the only one who can decipher the mystery that is "Olive"

...At least most of the time.

There are still things Olive keeps under wraps, especially from his best friend, but will his secrets be in jeopardy when Ash finally drags him into a situation where he has to confront the part of him he's been hiding for so long?

It could be considered strange how they ended up befriending the surly and cold Olive, but they've been attached to the hip since high-school, and while they've managed to gather a small cult following online, the two have made sure that it didn't disturb them form their real goal: To live life to the fullest!

But what does this seemingly normal bystander get out of following a mysterious robot-masked figure and an curious idol back down the dirty depths of the city that they worked so hard to get out of?

DAY is the quiet and timid "intern" of a new and obscure detective agency, which is really just him and his 'teacher'.

He wants nothing more than to tear open the city to find his brother, but the threats that keep them apart are far too dangerous to blatantly search in the open, so he has no choice but to pick up clues case by case.

Luckily, he won't be alone in this matter, as he accidentally gathers a rag-tag group of curious individuals with different agendas to help him expose Atlas's dirty underbelly.

But the threats aren't just external, DAY has some secrets of his own, one that might tear himself apart if he isn't careful enough.
