the being did his best not to bristle at the confirmation of the rumours. seeing west at that graveyard had been more than enough, but it was somewhat worse to hear it said aloud. “ you would do well to turn back now and cease your experiments. i sit in front of you as ample proof as to why your research is inadvisable. ”

without even a second of hesitation, or a deep breath, west replied with a confidence that could almost be respected if it weren’t for the topic on hand. ❛ i can’t do that. AND , i believe my intentions are in no way the same as your creator. you must understand my studies have yet to bring back completely coherent beings , but i often can see the pain in their eyes . . . and i don’t let them contuine to suffer. if i e v e r create something as marvelous as you , i wouldn’t RUN. fair treatment and a creature, like yourself , could only commend my research. ❜

i plan on doing a bunch of little headcanon posts in the next few days, mostly relating to my lovecraft verse. i want to explain west’s creepy ass clinic , his service in WWI , his severe paranoia , and what happens to him in the end.

once the being had swallowed his mouthful, he slowly set the rest of the sandwich back down on the edge of the plate and hunched his shoulders slightly. he had expected that they’d return to questions like this, but he had rather hoped that would be sooner rather than later. “ in truth, ” he replied finally, “ it was to find you that i came here. i heard rumours of your research; i came to bolton to see for myself if those rumours were true. ”

it may have been a meagre excuse for a meal by most standards, but it was ten times what the being had been accustomed to eating for the past few centuries. a cold cheese sandwich and canned vegetables beat half-rotten berries and nuts dug up from the dirt. with murmur of gratitude, the being seized the plate, trying not to appear too eager, and picked up the sandwich, half of which he swallowed in one bite.

west moved to pull the armchair closer towards the other , and finally made himself comfortable. untying his dress shoes that were coated in mud, west tried not to seem amused by the being’s actions. ❛ i am still awfully curious . . . ❜ he started, discarding his first shoe and then moving onto the other. ❛ most presently about how you came to bolton. i mean , it’s most likely safer than venturing into boston , or even arkham but . . . ❜
