Blog Announcement

I’ll try to keep this short, but I’m just here to say this blog is officially on hiatus until further notice. I’m not currently active on here at all and I haven’t even been able to do much with the sideblog for Tails either. Due to some circumstances out of my control, I haven’t develop either of these characters like I want, so I believe it is best for me to take an official hiatus until things change. I will be on my other two blogs that I’m currently active on. There might also be a change in urls/blog reboot entirely, but if that happens I will make another announcement before hand.

A boyfriend? Whoa, this Tails was much more mature than the one Orbot knew! Who would’ve thought. “I don’t think it will be hard to pretend that I am just an insignificant piece of machinery while I am in such state. As long as you will avoid pointing me out, I believe that none of your visitors will notice that I am actually a robot. As for me, I will do my best to not attract attention. After all, my functionality is at stake.”

The small bot rolled away a bit carefully positioning himself near the wall, leaning onto some box, his blue eyes shining from the shadow. The last thing that the fox said made the lackey shift in his place, letting out a robotic chuckle. “Emotions? Don’t be ridiculous. Robots can’t feel emotions. This is obviously just a fabrication. I react to the situation depending on my analysis and calculating which action will be more appropriate.”

“Robots have no need in feelings. We are the tools made to serve and be convenient and useful. Why would anyone wish to give us real emotions?” Orbot said a bit sadly, remembering his energetic square companion, who he left on the base all alone…

“I mean, you’re not wrong. Robot’s don’t feel, but that doesn’t stop us from personifying their actions and programmed quirks. After all, it’s only inevitable that robots reach the point of singularity. Hell, we might have already reached that point and not even realized it yet. Or maybe all this fear of robots is preventing it from happening as fast as it would have before. I’m sure someone out there wants a robot to feel just like them...Everyone has their reasons for wanting something.”

*Tails really couldn’t explain why besides that though. It was hard to talk about as the thought of life and robotics intertwining as such was always hard to conceptualize. No one know how it would happen or what would be the result. It was one of those unknowns that society just isn’t ready for.*

“Well, ever since Robotnik was ran out the country about a decade or so ago, the new government quickly enacted laws to prevent us from having a robotic police force terrorizing everyone or to quell the threat of being robotized. For the first few years, almost all but the basic in robotics was outlawed and even now it’s pretty restrictive. People just haven’t been able to move past it yet, and I don’t blame them. It’s going to take a lot longer for people to start trusting robotics again, if at all.”

So Eggman was exiled. Honestly, Orbot was in no way surprised. His boss could jump over his head at times and it rarely ended with his pevalation. The only thing that made the robot curious was if the Doctor was still alive and plotting revenge. A decade sounded like quite a long period for someone with so much energy and love for destruction and domination. Though at the moment it wasn’t important anyway. The lackey just realized that the minute he floats out onto the streets, he will become a target for immediate scarping, which was obviously not something the red bot was looking forward to.

“Well then…” Orbot said with quite an amount of misery in his tone as he folded into a ball. “I suppose either way I will be screwed or unscrewed. Being an outlaw is not the most pleasant experience, but if nothing else is left.” A pair of blue glowing artificial eyes turned to the fox. “Will you be so kind as to allow me to stay in your workshop until the night falls? I believe I will be much safer in the dark…”

“I mean...I guess I could. I doubt anyone will be specifically looking for a robot to scrap...Just try not to get into anything. I have a lot of projects for myself and some clients and there’s no telling what might happen to you, much less the projects themselves. Also you might want to be careful around my boyfriend when he gets home. I’m not very sure he’s very comfortable around robots himself.”

*Tails got some slight amusement in seeing the bot closed up like a ball like that. The robot itself expressed it’s ‘emotions’ very clearly...Very person-like almost...While Tails himself always wanted to explore some robotics himself, he always held off due to the current climate around that sort of thing.*

“Come to think of it...I’m surprised there are some robots that seem as complex as you...I haven’t seen any robots express emotion like you.”

“Shit, Manic missed my birthday...Wait I missed my birthday! Guess I can’t blame anyone then haha.”

“Oh well, not a big deal.”

“Yeeeeah, about that…It’s illegal in this city for robots to have any weapons, even for self-defense. Has your creator been living under a rock or something? I’m surprised someone hasn’t felt the effects of the last ten years…”

*Tails is quite bewildered…Surely this information was supposed to be programmed into this robot right? Was this robot just playing dumb? Who knows.*

“You still didn’t answer my question about getting into here.”

“Well that’s just robocist.” Orbot crossed his hands acting like he was deeply offended. “Why is it you mobians get to shoot and scramble us and we can’t fight back? I don’t know about you, but I do find it unfair.”

“But… Assuming that my creator has indeed been living under the rock. What was that about ten years? I do not think it will surprise you when I say that the way I got here is not the only thing I don’t know.”

It was tough to admit, but it was the truth. Orbot was obviously in an parallel zone. And he had no idea in which one.

*Well this bot certainly wasn’t changing it’s attitude. No reason for Tails to do the same.*

“Your creator is not from around here, are they? You’ll be lucky to make it a mile before someone tries to come and scrap you into bits. This city isn’t very friendly towards most robots, let alone a unique looking one such as yourself.”

“Orbot? Well I guess you do look like a couple of orbs stacked on top of each other…At least that makes sense. But how in the hell did you get here?

That… Could be an actual problem. If the place he found himself in was indeed so dangerous for robots, then Orbot was in a very big danger. Having literally no weaponry or hiding skills except for his defence form, the round bot was really screwed. Maybe even literally.

“Accident.” Orbot brushed off the last question, trying to think about the solution for his problem. “Not because I wished to obviously. If this area is indeed this dangerous, I would never approach it on my own without the proper tools of self-defense.”

“Well, excuse me princess, but you showed up in my shop. Besides, I’m not into robots like that. So, what is your designated name?”

“I came here by accident and was quite obviously leaving.” The robot quickly responded. “I wasn’t trying to receive attention, you might’ve seen me being in a bit of a hurry.”

“My name is Orbot. My designated name is none of your business, stranger.” The round bot said proudly, bluffing like his existence depended on it. Which wasn’t that far away from truth to be completely honest.

“Interesting fox, I have never seen the species with two tails before.” The small bot mocked in his usual sassy manner. “You could ask my name first at least before disassembling me with your eyes.”
