Tightly embraced in his arms, I have never felt safer. I know he would tear worlds and galaxies apart to keep me here, right here. In his arms, with his chin resting on top of my head, fingers absentmindedly playing with the fabric of my dress shirt.

“I’ll keep you safe,” he repeats time and time again, whenever the world is quiet and only the humming of our calming space fill our ears. A promise, a vow.

He presses his lips to my temple first, lingering there for a moment. The gesture causes a silly, lovestruck smile to tug on my lips. They travel to my cheek next and on the way to their destination, pass by my nose.

Once our lips meet in a heavenly kiss, a pleased little sigh escapes him and he tugs me just a little closer, if that was even possible. I keep my own arms securely wrapped around his middle, leaning against him, eyes closed and heart overflowing with love and affection.

“Love you so much,” he whispers between feathery light kisses. The words cause a stray tear to roll down my cheek, just before his hands find their way to my cheeks, gently cupping each of them.

“I love you,” I finally gather the necessary strength to respond, my voice wavering with the emotions that take hold of my being.
