Jugla is a neighbourhood in Riga where you get to live in buildings left behind the Soviet occupation, have your morning coffee with your very own suburban seagull (yes, he’s there every morning) and - if you’re lucky enough - you can see some bird mob fights over territory.

My submission for the photo contest “Fire and Night“ organised by the Latvian Museum of Photography.

Slowly starting to get into film photography more and more. There’s really something about spending so much time to take an image and get it ready for the final print.

These digital scans can only convey a small part of the feeling you get when you have a fresh print on your hands.

Some shots I took for the press release for the project "Garā Pupa" (Beanstock). The project encourages children with fewer opportunities to develop their talents by showing them cultural venues. This time it was a visit of an art museum.

While I truly enjoyed being in the company of the children I had to face some technical challenges as well - the museum has a strict no-flash policy and it is rather dimly lit. Moreover, I had to keep focused and look for shots while being surrounded by 30 active kids. 

The photographs were used for promoting the project in social media ( the website of the project, and various social platforms).
