“I’m glad you have them.  I think it would’ve been much easier if my brothers still lived with us, but they’re a great help all the same.”

“You and I seem to have more in common then I first realized - my sister goes to college now, so she’s not living at home either.”

“I guess it’s just the way I was raised. My mama instilled good values in me and I just amplified them on my own. I consider myself blessed in a lot of ways in my life, it’s hard to ignore the factors like that.”

“That’s really cool. I always wonder about what a normal upbringing would have been - away from all the travel. It’s really nice that you had that.”

“I guess we’re lucky for our siblings then.  I’m not sure what I’d do without my big brothers through everything.”

“I’m glad you have your brothers around for you when you need them. Siblings are usually great for those sort of things. If I didn’t have my sister and my father, I’d be stuffed.”

“I’m honestly thrilled I was right. I was preparing to be shot down,” she chuckled. “Where’d you get it from?”

“No, it’s okay.   I mean, it’s not okay and it’s not gonna be, but it happened and I try not to dwell on it.  Really?  I don’t really have anyone else that understands it aside from my brothers.”

“I’ve never really met anybody who’s mom was sick either. Same for me, but really only with my sister understanding.”

“You’d really do that?”

“Traveling is cool! I bet you could get involved with something like Doctors Without Borders and combine your two passions.”

“That might be interesting. But I’d thought more about being in a normal hospital and working closely with patients.”

I had to drop out the first time because my mom got sick.  Dad had to keep working to keep paying bills, so I had to take care of mom.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I, uh, I totally understand the whole mom being sick thing.”

“Oh, Bailey I’m sorry. That’s very uncool. I’ll actually call her if you want. She knew you were looking forward to her visiting you.”

“She just called up last night to tell me and Dad that she was just going to stay at college because there’s no time left to come home. But there is.”

“So, who’s up for calling my sister for me to remind her how unreasonable she’s being by deciding to not come home and see us before school goes back?”

“Sure, sure.”

“I would absolutely love to do that!” Tallulah beamed. “Australia sounds like such a fun place in general and with that knowledge, I have to use my responsible adult side and not book a ticket right away.”

“It’s surely one of my favorite places in the world. Probably because I spent so long there considering how long we spent in other places, but it’s too beautiful to forget about quickly. You’ll just have to wait, it seems.”

“All over the world huh? I mean, they aren’t awful. But I just never thought I’d be going to a school that requires them. Are there very many in the United States? How do you know all of this?”

“The world, yes. I never thought I’d be going to an actual school, so uniforms should be no big deal for me considering how I’ve dealt with the school thing. There aren’t too many in the US, apart from the private and catholic schools, mostly. Oh! I know all this because I’ve been all around the world, and you can’t help but see school kids.”

“As nice as it is not to have to worry about what to wear to school every day, I’m not sure I’m entirely sold on the concept of a uniform. I mean, they’re cute and all but I’m not sure it’s my color…”

“Fun fact: there are so many schools all over the world that wear uniforms all the time rather than home clothes. I haven’t attended any, but I saw them. Uniforms don’t seem all that bad. I think I could get used to them, as could you.”

“It’s always good to believe in those sort of things. I mean, if you don’t believe you can do things, odds are you won’t. I’m getting the feeling you’re very spiritual. Would I be right?”
